Rating: Summary: this is the best book i have ever read in my entirer life!! Review: I recomend this book for people over 11 years of age. I have read over about 250 books in my life and this one wins my vote by a mile! Pearson's writing is fabulous and has a certain-deep-touch to it. 17-year-old Kait (Kaitland) has fallen in love with her familys absolute enemies. Her father had killed a Cruthfeild. Their emenies father. She wants to hide that she is a Malone (her last name), but she wants to keep loyal to her family, land, but most of all...Bram. The moment she saw him she knew there was a bond between them. He knew, too. She lies and tells him her mother's maiden name, but will Bram find out the truth?? Can Kaitland bury the truth forever? Will there love for one another stay strong if one finds out about the other's past? FIND OUT!! I just can not emphasize how much I loved this book. Bram sounds so loving, the kisses he gives, to the way he holds Kait. And even the way they sit silently and draw/write together. I just LOVE it and can nt stop thinking about it. I read it in one day because it was simply immpossible for me to put it down. This book made me cry, flinch, and be a little bit jealous, and a very important lesson. This book was just absolutely may FAVEORITE book and was soooooooooo TERRIFIC!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Simply Irresistable! Review: Scribbler of Dreams is an awesome page turner and I simply could not put it down. It is about two related families (The Malones and the Crutchfields), that hate one another with a passion. Out of money because of her family's refusal to sell land, Kaitlin Malone, along with her sister Abby, must leave Holy Trinity, a private school, and start her senior year at Twin Oaks High. Kait's life is turned upside down because she must start her last year of high school at a new school, which just happens to be on Crutchfield land. Then Kaitlin meets young Bram Crutchfield, a compassionate artist that wins her heart. In order to protect thier love, Kait tells one lie after another and is enrolled at Twin Oaks as Kaitlin Hampton. Soon, Kait is caught up in a web of deciet, that threatens to destroy everything she knows and values. This book is awesome! I fell completely in love with Kaitlin and Bram, and their love for one another was amazing! What I loved about this novel most is how it showed things from Kait's journal, her writing was fantastic. Everyone will love Scribbler of Dreams, I swear on that!
Rating: Summary: A Great Story! Review: The Scribbler Of Dreams is a romantic story, kind of like Romeo and Juliet. Kaitlyn Malone was raised to hate the Crutchfields because of a hundred year old betrayal between the two Crutchfield sisters. Kait's father was in jail for murduring Robert Crutchfield which the family claimed was an accident. Kait ended up having to go to a public school because of a shortage of money. She fell completely in love with a boy named Bram who happened to be a Cruthfield! Kaitlyn tels lies on top of lies and uses her mother's maiden name to conceal her identity, until her name is revealed at Bram's birthday party! Will Bram forgive her? Can they love each other knowing who they are? Read the book and find out!
Rating: Summary: Letting Go Review: Scribbler of Dreams is a love story that describes a love that can't be broken no matter what the circumstances. This Romeo and Juliet-like story tells the story of two teens who fall in love, but their families hate each other. This story is in the point of view of the girl (Kate). She doesn't tell Bram that she is a Malone because of the family feud that happened more than a century ago. The Malones and the Crutchfields show the meaning of holding a grudge too long. It shows family expectations. This book had a deeper meaning to it than just another love story. It shows that you don't need to hold on to what happened in the past, because just like in this book, the feud could have been easily avoided if they simply talked out the problem. This book will make you feel like crying (like I did), make you happy, and leaving you wanting to know what happened after the story ends. I think Kate isn't just a scribbler of dreams. She's living them out. Taking the chance to do what her ancestors couldn't (or wouldn't). Mary E. Pearson is an excellent writer, and should think about writing a sequel to this book. Many people would enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Captures your mind and heartwarming Review: When my 8th grade Language Arts teacher did these book reccomondations every month, one of those times she reccomended scribbler of dreams.I read a few pages and then abandoned the book for a year. Well now this year I approached high school, during my off periods I wander off into the FHS library~my sanctuary. I looked through the new book section and found scribbler of dreams again. Sitting in a comfy chair my mind sank into this book. This book allowed me to enter the world of Kaitlin who has this burden of her father being a murderer, which is really depressing. Going to a new high school in your senior year is challenging..really difficult since it's the last year. Reading about the love that Bram and Kaitlin shared I thought was very touching, it's not the hots or puppy love..it's true love. reading this book I acutally cried because a love Kaitlin/Bram could have maybe threatened by her past and the passion they both have is simply beautiful.'life is beautiful'. This book I could relate a bit though my relationship wasn't that amazing and sweet sadly. Love can be bitter and yet sweet like an orange.
Rating: Summary: Didn't do it for me... Review: Ok, I'm not really into romances, but I read this, and it didn't do it for me. I struggled to get through the books. The main character in this story seems really stupid to me, writing silly poems in her "secret" book. I don't like how the author describes the events in the story. It had a good plot, though. Try Gone with the Wind, an excellent romance.
Rating: Summary: Can you say Hatfield and McCoy? Review: Yes...this book may be eerily similar to a Romeo and Juliet story. But somehow, I thought of it as more Hatfield/McCoy than Montague/Capulet (lol-I hope I didn't slaughter those names too badly!). In fact, for anyone who enjoyed this, I would also recommend Ann Rinaldi's 'The Coffin Quilt.' But back to Scribbler of Dreams. You're starting your senior year in high school. You are attending a school practically run by your family (the Malone's)'s bitter enemies-the Crutchfields. Your dad is in jail, accused of killing one of the Crutchfields. Your little sister is an annoying, preppy little girl. You want to write-you love to write. But you are destined, like it or not, to continue running the family tomato farm. Fun-as getting your molars pulled. Kaitlin Malone (or rather, Hampton, as she must go by at her new school) has all these problems, and more, as she is twisted into a complicated web of lies, after falling for Bram Crutchfield. This is a wonderful book, and as one of the Kaitlin's in the world, I could truly relate to the entire thing. I would advise many people to read it-and then think about it. Think long and hard, and see how it affects you.
Rating: Summary: The Best Book!!! Review: I loved this book so much the first time I read it. It's a modern take on Romeo and Juliet. It is one of my favorite books, and I find myself reading it again and again. Everyone should read this book at least once in their lives.
Rating: Summary: More than just a romance Review: Even if you think Romeo and Juliet type books are dull and cliche, you will still find plenty to like in this great book with plenty of emotional depth leading into the world of a 17-year-old girl and her search for the truth. I read this book looking for a romance story, but instead I found a deep, thought provocative book that I could fully relate to and that I found to be my favorite book of all time. My advice: Even if it doesn't seem to be your type of book, pick it up, and I guarantee, after a couple of pages you won't put it back down.
Rating: Summary: Scribbler of Dreams Review: This was the best book I've read since like fourth grade. It was awesome, perfect in my opinion. Ever since I've started high school Homework and activities got in the way from the time I used to spend reading but when I tripped upon this book I couldn't put it down! It has a wonderful theme. If you like the basic theme of Romeo and Juliet you should love this modern version. The characters are great, well developed and you definetly can imagine them perfectly in you head. Even if you aren't exactly like the characters, you can relate to this book in some way, shape, or form. This is such a great book. It would have to be my favorite. I would read it over and over again. I think that even if you aren't a big reader if you are a teenage girl...you will absolutlely love this book!
