Summary: You don't know me....
Review: This is the best book I've ever read! It was absolutely amazing. I read it in less than a day.
The way David Klass wrote it was incredible. I've never read anything like it.

It has the ability to be so funny, yet so sad at the same time!

John gets in the most horrible situations, but the way he talks about them are hilarious!

I'm so glad I picked this book up, and gave it a chance.
I HIGHLY recommend it!!!

Summary: awesome book!
Review: This was one of the best books i have ever read! It's quite realistic. John is a very well written and well spoken character dealing with his problems in a great way. The ending was great and shouldn't have been any other way!

Summary: I love it!
Review: I love this book. It's one of the few one that deal with dark secrets and realy life. Reality. Athough, you have to be REALLY mature for some parts of it, because then you wouldn't have an clue what's going on.

Summary: Close to perfect
Review: Every once in a while, I come across a book like this that starts so well, full of biting humor and vigorous insight, and I think, there's no way he can keep this up...there's no way he can make a whole book this good. I didn't think David Klass could do it. I'd read his earlier book, California Blue and thought it was, well, pretty good, but pretty much run-of-the-mill in the teen lit genre. But, with each page I turned, this book kept getting even better. I am a middle school reading teacher and have read teen lit books by the hundreds. This is unquestionably in the top three I've ever read...maybe even the best. I need to think about it a while first. I just finished it 5 minutes ago and I had to get online to write a review. It is GREAT. Buy it. Read it. Use it in your classroom!

Summary: You Don't know me
Review: This is one of the best books I have seriously ever read. It enchanted me the first time I saw it. It's written extremely well an gives you a perspective that is so original. Who ever thought a tuba could be seen as a frog? :) Sometimes I wanted to yell at the characters and other times I would just want to say "go! go!". It is highly creative and for that I give it 5 gold stars!

Summary: Who is John?
Review: John is a young boy who is just starting high school. His mother lives with him, along with her boyfriend who physically hits him a lot. John's father left him and his mother when he was younger. He doesn't care for school very much and gives some of his teachers nicknames. He is in the band, because they make all students pick at least one extra activity. His teacher, Mr. Steenwilly, takes an interest in him. He see his bruises and tries to help, but John just shuts him out. John is going through all these things at school, like his first date, and he cannot share any of it with his family at home. His mother has decided that she is going to marry this boyfriend. John says he is a father, who is not a father. Will John tell his mom about this man?

Read this book and see if John can escape the horrible treatment he is getting from this father, who is not a father. I didn't like this book at first. Even after the first hundred pages, I couldn't get into it. I am so glad I finished it. It got much better the more I read. I am 26 and enjoyed this read, but I would highly recommend it to boys who generally don't like to read.

Summary: Mind Altering
Review: This was a shockingly angry book. It was almost hard to get past that and read the story, but really, this book has sat with me for these couple of days since I've read it. I'm disturbed and amazed at the same time. I find it interesting how the band director is the one who really knows John the best because it is my experience that the co-curricular teachers like band and choir really do know the students the best. I loved how it was music that saved him.

Summary: The Troubled Mind
Review: The novel You Don't Know Me, written by David Klass, is a very good book. It is also a truthful book that shows the troubled mind of many teens. It deals with many of the problems teens have now and when the book was written. There are many different problems John, the main character, has to deal with. As well as having many of the mental and emotional troubles of being a teenager, John is being beaten by a man his mother is about to marry. John tries to hide what is happening to him from his teachers and most important of all, his mother. However one of his more compassionate teachers, Mr. Steenwilly, realizes that something isn't quite right and lets him know that if John needs anyone to talk to he is there for him. John starts to gain some confidence and takes the girl of his dreams, known to him as Glory Hallelujah, out on a date. Just as the world seems to have a light side to it, his date's father threatens his life. He is forced to run home leaving some of his valuables belongings behind. As the night reaches its horrible peak he gets home late to a drunken man who shows him no mercy. As the book goes on John gets wrapped up in his own mind, contemplating things such as turning in the man who is not his father and even worse, suicide. Toward the end of the book he falls in love with a girl from his band. This feeling of being important over comes him and causes him to stand up to the drunken man living in his house. However doing so causes him to be beaten severely. Mr. Steenwilly's curiosity and caring for this boy saved Johns life. In the end John realizes that he is important to those around him and conquers his troubled mind.

Summary: interesting
Review: This book was very interesting. It was about a boy who is getting abused by his mothers boyfriend and doesn't know how to tell his mother. He has no idea on how to solve his problem. The main character is John, and he is the one who is telling the story. Parts of it were funny, but a lot of it was very sad. I really liked this book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes reading anything dramatic.
