Summary: Exhilarating
Review: This is a book unlike any other I've ever read. In it, a pandemic killed all adults and teenagers on earth, leaving preteens and younger children to fend for themselves. The world was thrown into chaos. One town in America was in the same predicament, until a ten-year-old girl named Lisa became its leader. She created a fortress for the denizens of her city to live in and had to defend it from an enemy attack. Will the city be saved? Is Lisa's learning that the civilization partly belongs to all the children and not just her the key? But you'll have to read it to find out.

I mostly enjoyed this book. It has a unique plot. It was intriguing to read about how Lisa rose to power and began to restore order. However, there were some elements I didn't like. For instance, the heavy-handed stories Lisa made up. The author could've communicated his message without so many of those. Since I happen to be a teenager, I was sad that no adoelesents survived the plague.

>>Trivia: Did anyone else notice that Lisa's family had the same last name as the author's?<<

Overall, I loved the book and can't wait for its promised sequels. I'm eager to see how the kids will probably learn to turn the electricity back on, fly planes, and find more ways to get food.

Summary: James' Review
Review: This book's title is A Girl Who Owned a City. This book is about a virus that kills everybody over the age of twelve. It's also about a girl named Lisa who's trying to pull together her street. She has a military and the military is going to stop gangs that try to enter their houses and steal their food. I like this book because I liked imagining me in this girl's position, trying to imagine what I'd do to help my fellow pupils. Lisa kept cool throughout the whole book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to picture themselves in the main character's place.

Summary: The Girl Who Owned A City
Review: The Girl Who Owned a City was the best book I have ever read because it was about a plague that killed everybody over 12 years of age. So only children were there, and the girl who owned the city was Lisa and her brother Todd, who never gave up and never let her down. This is the best book, especially the end, but I can not tell you the end.................

This review is written by a girl from NBPS prep school in 6th grade.

Summary: The Girl Who Owned A City
Review: We enjoyed this book very much because it wasn't one of those books that you could just put down and leave it alone for a week. The reason we liked this book was because it kept us wondering what would happen next. It was interesting to see how kids could survive without adults. This book is about a deadly plague that causes the deaths of people over the age of 12 all over the world. Lisa, a ten-year-old adventurous girl, is forced to help her brother and herself survive without adults. She lives every day looking for food. She used her imagination to look for food in places she thought other people would never look. She taught herself to drive a car and to be able to go places, and she needed to save her friends who had no food and were hurt. With all the gangs around, danger is just around the corner. We enjoyed this book very much and we hope you will too.

Summary: Absolutely AMAZING
Review: I read this book when I was a child. I grew up in Glen Ellyn, the town in which this story takes place. So the magic of this book was even more close to home for me! It was amazing to me, I am so happy to have found it being sold somewhere. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants an adventure filled and heartfelt story.

Summary: A long time ago...
Review: I read this book as a child - I am now 32 with a ten year old of my own and I have finally ordered a copy for her (after searching through my mother's attic and all my old books - I am a bookworm and have tons AND forgetting the title and author's name but not the story!). Thanks go to Eleanor9 at askme.com for reading my story synopsis and being able to provide me with title and author and thanks to Amazon for having this book in stock!

Summary: This book is wonderful.
Review: I am almost 23 years old. I read the book "The Girl Who Owned a City" when I was in junior highschool, Grade 7, and never forgot it. I read it again this year, and it was just as I had remembered it: one of the best books I have ever read. A good "post-apocalyptic" story, empowering for children, a strong sense of doing what is right. Excellent book. I still love it, ten years after I initially read it. No sequel, unfortunately... read it! It's great. :)

Summary: Great book.
Review: I always enjoy a "children's" book that doesn't treat young adults like babies. This is a good book about using one's wits and trying to logically reason through tough problems to find a solution (especially when dealing with others!). Since these kinds of books are hard to find, I'll list a few more like them here: 'Tunnel in the Sky' by Robert Heinlein, 'Red Planet' by Robert Heinlein, 'Ender's Game' by Orson Scott Card. Contact me if you like my selections and you want more! Oh, and Mr. Nelson, where's that sequel!
