Summary: ReReading for tidbits
Review: This book has always been one of my favorites, but I can now appreciate how it fits right in with books of the likes of "Lord of the Flies" (looking at my book, i realize that the cover even mentions LOTF on it). It also has a lot of parallels to real life forms of government.

Read and re-read the stories that Lisa tells Todd. They're really much more in depth than one thinks at first read.

Summary: Best book ever!
Review: This book was satisfying on many different levels. Not only it is fun and easy to read, but it is very thought-provoking. What would happen if everyone over 12 died? I don't think it'd be quite that bad, but maybe. I just can't suspend my disbelief so far as to believe that no grown-ups or teenages survived, though. That just isn't possible. Or at the very least, it's not even remotly probable. But I loved the bit with the city, and all the plans they made were interesting to mull over. If I where in that situation, though, I'd do some things differently, like I'd empty out the warehouse and have a lot of caches, like she had at first. And I would NOT let a six year-old drive.
I absolutly love this book, and I wish there was a sequel.

Summary: A Great Book for Girls
Review: I read this book when I was 11, and having a vivid imagination, I immediately put myself in the book as the main character. And I can honestly say that this book is what really got me into reading. The copy I own has seen better years, but it's still a favorite and I've passed it on to my 8 + 9 year old girls. They both read it and they loved it!! I ended up having to buy another copy so they both could have one. I would have to say this is one of THE BEST books for children...great story line, and great details (so it's not hard at all to imagine yourself in the story). A must buy!!

Summary: This book is still with me after all these years
Review: I found this book in the school library in Junior High and have thought about it ever since. All the positive stuff the other reviewers have said about it I agree with. To this day I stop and think about what I would do if I had been her. I can't even imagine how the ideas and concepts put forth in this book have shaped who I am today.
The only bad thing about this book was that it is so short. I did stumble upon a book with a similar theme that you should hunt down (it's currently out of print) if you loved this book - Emergence by David R. Palmer. Enjoy!

Summary: Unforgettable
Review: 20 years ago, in a remote village of the island of the Philippines, I found this tattered book. I can't recall where exactly but one thing for sure it made me a voracious reader and what I am today. It inspired me to dream big, to venture out and it made me longed for adventures none of the people in my village would dare to do.I became an educator and I came to the states 10 years ago and my dreams becomes a realization.
This is about a young girl who dare to be brave and shoulder the responsibilities to take care of the younger ones when the older civilizations perished because of the plague. It is an adventures full of fears, doubts, courage and responsibility.
I have read and discarded and forgotten tons of books but this one was imprinted in my mind. It definitely made an impressions on me.
I have been for looking for this book to own and to add it to my vast collections of assortments of books and I am ecstatic to have finally found it. This book was truly an inspiration!

Summary: Facinating
Review: I read this book at ten and prayed for the plague which would let me have the adventures Lisa had. A decade later I still find myself scouting high schools for fortresses and planning my survival, despite the fact that I've missed the age limit. This book left a very deep impression on me and is not to be missed. There's more than a hint of darkness to this, make no mistake. It, intentionally or unintentionally, makes some very Animal Farmesque comments about human nature; Lisa's fortress is a rare haven against the marauding gangs that the majority of children form. Check it out. Simply brilliant.

Summary: I love this book
Review: I'm 37 years old and love to read, a fact that I attribute to this book. I read it when I was in elementary school and was immediately hooked on reading. I've looked for it in book stores for years and now have finally found it. I'm buying it for my niece for Christmas.

Summary: Only Children
Review: This book is about children who have to survive in a world without adults. It's about a girl named Lisa who forms a militia to survive from gangs in the streets.
I think this book was boring at first, but then it got better as I continued reading the book.

Summary: Glen Ellyn is Real!!!
Review: The Girl who owned a city was the book i first read in 7th grade after our teacher tried to encourage us to read books for a report. It quickly became my favorite book and i read it periodically every year. I am now a sophomore in highschool and i still love it. It has a timeless theme, which also has a scary and realistic reality to it. The events in the book are not far-fetched at all, and also raised many questions in my mind. What would you do if you were a ten year old left to survive in a cruel world? Another great fact about the book is the town it takes place in, Glen Ellyn Illinois, is real and is the town 5 minutes away from mine, and the high school it takes place in is in my school district, the Glenbard Distric in suburban Chicago, and in the book they visit my town, Lombard. The book is excellent and i reccomend it for all ages.
