Summary: PC Princess Book - A Disappointment
Review: PC princess a disappointment

My wife pick up the book a school book fair as a gift for our daughter. The movie was great, however the book was a large disappointment. Instead of being a cute, tong in cheek book for girls, it morphed into a book dealing with such issues as whether to eat beef, leather shoes, and the wearing of furs being terrible. The book is a monument of PC in books for children.

Summary: A Bit Disappointing - Pick This One Up from the Library
Review: After reading loads of negative reviews for "Princess Lessons," I decided to pick it up from the library instead of spending fifteen bucks on it. Well, it's definately a short read, and not too satisfactory.

Mia, Grandmere, Lilly, Tina Hakim Baba, Michael, Paolo, Seabstiano, and Prince Phillippe all take part in this clever "how to" guide. Some topics covered are: How to aquire a boyfriend, how to dress like a princess, how to eat like a princess, and princess beauty tips. It's a funny book, but not long at all - it's about an hour read. Most of the comments in the book are written the funny - but stuffy - grandmere, and are snobby and useless. There aren't actually any good tips in the book, but it holds us over until Princess in Pink is released.

Overall grade - C+

Summary: Pure Fun
Review: By now, most people who read YA novels knows that Mia Thermopolis is the star of the Princess Diaries series by Meg Cabot. Throughout the first four books of the series we have seen Mia's triumphs and pitfalls as she's dragged kicking and screaming into the life of a Genovian Princess. In Princess Lessons the bubbly anxious teen takes a break from telling us about her life in learning how to be a princess and tells us what all princesses, and teenage girls in general should know. After a quick introduction from Mia we hear about Beauty from the amazing Paolo ("I spit on kohl!" and fashion from Grandmere. Throughout the rest of the book we heard about manners, education and character from the various characters in the book and finally, about dating from Tina Hakin Baba. This last part includes a very funny interview from Michael Moscovitz.

This book is pure fun. It manages to provide a sort of self help book for teenage girls while throwing in much humor from the characters from the series. Mia is always there, writing in pink and commenting about the things she agrees and disagrees about. Some of my favorite parts has to be Paolo's humorous part on makeup and Sebastinano commenting on fashion, with his poor accented English. Another favorite part of mine has to be Michael's brief but amusing interview.

This book is not necessary for fans of the Princess Diary to read. It must have taken place after the fourth book but it doesn't really continue the story at all. If you're a fan of the series you don't have to read it. Personally I think that it's just pure fun. You'll read it in one sitting. Still it is not a real Princess Diary book, and I'd prefer another edition to the series than a self help book any day. Reading page after page of "how to"s gets annoying after a while but it's still a great thing for fans of the Princess Diaries to read while they're waiting for The Princess Diaries Volume Four and a Half: Project Princess to come out.

Summary: Fun, Fun, Fun!!!
Review: Do you want to learn how to walk, talk, sit, and act like a Princess? Then this book is for you. This short little self-help book featuring some of our favorite fiction characters, is here to inform us about how to do everything like a Princess. "Princess Lessons" features tips on beauty, etiquette, fashion, character, education, and guys. But that's not the best part, all of these important Princess-like tips are given to us not only by Princess Amelia Mignonette Grimaldi Thermopolis Renaldo, a.k.a. Mia Thermopolis, but by her friends and relatives, including Grandmere, Sebastiano, Paolo, Lily, Tina, and the Princess' boyfriend himself, Michael.

Not only is PRINCESS LESSONS a small book that you can tote with you all over the world, but it is the only PRINCESS DIARIES books that features illustrations. Beautiful ilustrations. This is a must have book for all PRINCESS DIARIES fans, especially those who are collectors of all of Cabot's work.

Summary: Perfect for any Princess
Review: For any girl who's ever dreamed of being a royal just like Mia (that would be just about every girl on the planet), this book is perfect for learning the ins and outs of how to present oneself as a princess. With cute pictures and including editors such as Paolo and Grandmere, this book is a runaway hit with the fans.

Summary: Good-but not great!
Review: I honestly thought this book was going to be part of another Princess Diaries series. But to my dismay, it wasn't.

This book teaches you how to be a "princess", or learn about makeup, good posture, and dining in public. It's funny, but after a while you're saying, "How much more can I take?"

At the end of the book there is a small, funny, make-believe interview, but I felt like I wish the whole book could have been more like that.

I would reccomend this book to girls 12+, because it has things like makeup and so on that younger girls might find quite irrelevant and boring!

But, if you're looking for a quick read and how to brush up on your style/manners, this is the book for you!

Summary: I want to be a Princess!!!
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. At first I had no idea what it was about.I have seen the Princess Diary movies so I sort of had and idea of what it was gonna be about. It what somewhat like the movie but different too. This book is a guide to being a princess. In the movie Amelia is an average teenage girl and all of a sudden her life changes because she has less then 3 months to become a princes. Somethings changed for her. Like the way she dresses and even the way she ete at a table and this book tells you about how to's of a princess.
I got a lot of boy advice from this book because it is true. It also includes many beauty care advice, fashion tip and just things to make a teenager a better person and rules they could live their days by. I would reccomend this to teenage girls who just like to have fun and need a tip here and there and to people who liked reading or seeing the Princess Diary movies.

Summary: Utterly Pointless
Review: I would not recommend this book to anyone, even if they love the Princess Diaries.

This book is mini lessons from characters in Mia's story (Grandmere, her many personal groomers, Lilly, Lars etc.) about how to be a good princess. Boooring. It's stuff we already know from the story, but presented without the usual wit and humour that we've come to love Mia for. There's the occasional "funny" tidbit stuck at the bottom of the page, but the attempted jokes all fell flat.

I am not interested in hearing about how to do makeup or which forks to use. To me, that is not light, fun reading material.

I view this book in the same way I look at "Quidditch Through The Ages" and the Harry Potter spinoffs. Why couldn't the author have spent valuable time writing another good book in the series instead of wasting it with this?

Summary: Wish Cabot were working on Princess Diary sequels instead!
Review: In this sweet little self-help book, aspiring royalty will learn the proper way to curtsey, the appropriate way to introduce one's consort to the queen, and which fork to start with at gala affairs. Characters from Cabot's popular series offer their expert advice, with romantic advice from Tina Hakim Baba and beauty tips from Paolo of Chez Paolo. Lana Turner even makes an appearance to plug extracurricular activities.
There is an initial emphasis on makeup, but at least Paola advocates for understated and low maintenance. It seems out of character for Mia to protest chinchilla capes and spout five ways to save the planet but not to mention choosing beauty products not tested on animals. Phone etiquette is not extended to include cell phone use, although email is mentioned in a chapter separate from correspondence. Health, safety and good judgment are mentioned throughout, and chapters like "Proper Tiara Maintenance" add levity.
Overall, good grooming and gracious are stressed, with Mia reminding girls to be kind, assertive, smile, and above all, to thine own self be true. Not a necessary addition to your library collection, but this might make a nice gift for a young teen who is a fan of the series or film.
