Summary: "Crash" Review
Review: I liked this book. It went into the mind of an average mean, annoying jock. The characters in this book made me chorttle with excitement because of the immature things they said. It was just a gosh dern good book.

In my opinion, the best part of the book was the beginning. I thought it was funny because of all the silly goose things they did. This geek named Penn Webb was annoying and he wore silly buttons and stuff. One of them said,"Hi, I'm a flickertail.

The most vivid story elements were the characters and the way they were described. I really liked the conflict. The main character, Crash, played a big prank on a nerdy male cheerleader, but ended up liking him in the end. You should read this book. It will forever change the world and all of it's people.

Summary: Crash
Review: Do you have a nickname everyone calls you even your parents? Well John Cogan does. It's Crash. He got his name when he got his first helmet at the age of three. He put it on he and then knocked his cousin flat on her butt into the snow.
In the book, crash everyone called John "Crash" until a Quaker and vegetarian, Penn Webb, came to town in 1st Grade. Five years later crash got a new best friend named Mike, and they tried out for the football team. Remember Webb? Well he tried out for cheerleading and makes it, and then Mike and Crash start to pick on him much more.
My favorite thing about the book is the visuals I had 50 to be precise! Also I liked the description of the characters. The thing I do not like about this book is rare transition. If you like crash maybe you will like these Realistic Fictions: Bath Water Gang, Fourth Grade Rats, Manic Magee, And Wringer.

Summary: Crash goes crashing to a stop at the top of the best sellers
Review: Ever Since Crash was a little boy he has been running into things. When he was about three years old he was wearing his first football helmet and when his cousins came over he ran into his seven-year-old cousin and knocked her right into the snow. Ever since then Crash has been dominating the football field.

The plot of the story is Crash makes the first string running back and he becomes uber cocky. When the new girl comes to town Crash, thinking he I all that can get her in a second, so he tries to make his move but ends up getting slapped and embarrassed in front of all the football team. Eventually he forgets about her and starts to concentrate on football. One day he finds out that the new girl and his sister are trying to stop the mall from being built and he gets extremely mad at the new girl for dragging his sister into it and starts to take some of his anger out on her.

When Crash's coach gets mad at Crash for missing practices and not concentrating during games he threatens to bench Crash for the rest of the season. As you can imagine this did not go over well with crash and he got defensive and started a fight with his coach. Later in the season Crash's team made it to the championship and crash did not get to play.

I gave this book a four because it was one of the best books I have read and it just kept me wanting to keep reading more. But as always there is room for improvement.

The protagonist is Crash. He is an every day kid with an uber cocky ego. He can be really nice and caring to his friends and family, but when he is on the football field and around girls he turns into a mean beast that thinks he is the best around and no one can touch him.

One of my favorite scenes from the book takes place in the gym at the school dance. Crash had just had a forty-point game and he was as cocky as ever. He decided to make a move on the new girls, but as he learned she did not like him. He walked up to the girl and asked her if she wanted to dance and she said no. Crash had never been turned down before and he was very shocked. He said the to new girl that no one turns down Crash and he grabbed her hand and dragged her onto the dance floor. The new girl was very angry and slapped crash and ran away into the bathroom.

I am one that does not like many books and if you have read this you know that I loved this book. I think it is a great book to read and anyone that has a chance to read this should. I also think that it should be a part of class readings. I think that anyone would have a wonderful time reading this book and jerry Spinelli does a great job of explaining everything but yet he leaves you able to think and use you imagination a little bit too.

Summary: Octopus Stew to Scoring Touchdown
Review: This book will kick you out of the grand stands. It starts out with a boy named Crash who is a bully. He picks on a new kid in town named Penn Webb because he is nerdy. After tackling his grampa while playing football he realizes what life is all about. Would this change in personality have anything to do with Penn Webb?

Summary: Really good... Sort of
Review: It was pretty good, but not the best...

This book is about a boy named Crash Cogan who meets a weird kid from across the street. They don't hit it off. In fact Crash even buries the kids truck! But as the years pass Crash sees the real kid in him... What happens next? Read it and find out...

It's moving, but it just didn't didn't have the same flare as the other books he wrote did... It could have been a bit more thought through but it was still good...

Summary: Crash. Must read
Review: Ok. So the first time I saw this book i saw the cover and decided not to read it. The cover was a baby with a mustache, I thought it was stupid. Then I tried reading it and I was hooked. By the way, there is a reason for the mustache. Its a funny, yet emotional book. It makes you think. This is a must read book.

Summary: Crash
Review: Crash Coogan, is a seventh grade football senastion that everyone loves. Penn Webb, Crash's dweeby, vegetable eating neighbor has been Crash's target ever since he moved in next door in the house garage. Webb is not only a nerd he is also a cheerleader for the football team.
Crash and his best bud Mike, can not think of anything better to do than to make Webb's life a total disaster. But after awhile Crash begins to see that Webb has something he may never gain, no matter how many touchdowns he scores. And when Mike takes a prank too far even for Crash, the football star has to choose which side he's really on.
The reason why I liked this book so much is because you don't have to be someone you're not and that you should always be yourself . And hang out with friends you interested in and they tell you to do things that you really don't want to do.

Summary: More Than a Stud
Review: A Review by Krisi

Crash Coogan is an amazing football player and an all around jock. In the story Crash is a bully, and is always messing with a kid named Penn Webb. Penn is a nerdy, skinny, vegetarian Quaker, also a cheerleader. Although Crash is a football stud, he is envious of Penn. Penn is a friend to Jane Forbes; the girl Crash has been in love with for ages. This is reason enough to make Penn's life a living nightmare. Towards the end of the story, Crash's grandfather suffers a stroke. This is the turning point in Crash's life; he finally realizes that there's more to life then sports. He discovers the importance of family and friends.

I enjoyed how easy it was to relate my life to Crash's. Every situation Crash went through I understood exactly how he felt. For instance, I can completely relate to being turned down and humiliated at a dance. I also enjoyed the moral of the story. Without lecturing, Jerry Spinelli was able to include important life lessons regarding family and friends. The values each character possessed were enough to make you envious and strive to be a better person. However, I did not like how simple the language was. I felt that by merely using a larger array of words the authors' message could have been more powerful.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an easy to read story with a wonderful message. This book is packed with great humor that any young adult would enjoy!
