Summary: The Wanderer
Review: The Wanderer by Sharon Creech, is a good and exciting book. It is about a thirteen-year-old girl named Sophie and her cousin Cody who is the same age. They travel with their other cousin and three uncles to England on a sailboat across the Atlantic Ocean. They do this because they want to visit one of their uncle's fathers. This is a touching book about friendship.

Summary: outstanding
Review: It's a shame when a book like this is marked ages "8-12" because I'm afraid it keeps the very people (those of us who are supposedly Grown Ups) who may most need to read it from ever giving it a try. This is a wonderful book. The format is extremely appealing (journal entries that bounce between Sophie and her cousin Cody), and helps to set up early on a question that keeps the reader wondering until the end. The author uses enough words to give the feeling of being on the ocean, without bludgering the reader with overly descriptive passages. The ending is unexpected and moving. After this and Walk Two Moons, I'm off to read Sharon Creech's other works. I recommend this to everyone.

Summary: Sharon Creech has done it again!
Review: I am continually amazed each time I read one of Sharon Creech's novels. I found Walk Two Moons to be remarkable, and I was not at all disappointed with The Wanderer. This book is written from two different perspectives: Sophie's and Cody's, which adds a unique twist and makes it very interesting. Once again, Sharon Creech manages to take different stories and different perspectives and weave them together beautifully in a way that really works. The Wanderer has plenty of suspense and adventure as well as some very tender moments. I also found it to be very thought-provoking. It left me thinking about life, and it left me feeling good. This one is another winner!

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not her best
Review: Sharon Creech is a wonderful writer and this is a good book, however if you haven't read "Walk Two Moons" (her Newbery award winner), then you should read that first. (Or maybe not, if you want to save the best for last....)

My problem with this book is that, even for a childrens book, it is too simplistic and silly at times: the child's simple view of life helping the adults see where they went wrong... That sort of thing.
