Rating: Summary: The Wanderer Review: The Wanderer by Sharon Creech is about a thirteen year old girl named Sophie, who dreams of sailing across the ocean. Over the summer, she can follow this dream when she is asked to join her three uncles, Dock, Mo, and Stew, and two cousins, Cody and Brian, on a trip across the Atlantic Ocean to England, where they will meet Sophie's grandfather, Bompie. Sophie keeps a journal of her journey, so she can remember it all later. Sophie's cousin, Cody, is keeping a log for a summer project at school. The Wanderer revolves around the two logs and their authors thoughts as they go on the journey of a lifetime. The Wanderer was a little hard to start and was slow in the beginning. Although after the first few chapters and you understand the writing style and main ideas, it became interesting and exciting. Between Sophie's stories and Cody's sense of humor, this is a good book for people of all ages. This story kept me guessing until the last page. New surprises keep popping up, making it interesting, and fun to read. You just want to turn the page. Although this book isn't one of Sharon Creech's best, it certainly is one of her top ten. It makes you want to go out and sail across the ocean with the dolphins, just like Sophie. Cody keeps the book from getting too serious with his search to prove that he's not a complete goof off and impress his father, all while trying to make his cousin Brian look stupid. I recommend this book for anyone, because anyone could enjoy it. The book, The Wanderer, has everything a book needs to be popular, from interesting characters, to action. I am surprised it is not more popular. This book is defiantly enjoyable, and I suggest everyone reads it.
Rating: Summary: The Wanderer Review: The Wander The wander is a very good adventure story about traveling across the ocean in a boat. Unfortunately it is very hard to get into. I had to start it twice before it got interesting. It is about Sophie and her cousin Cody. In the beginning it tells about how Sophie always seemed drawn to the sea and how she was so happy to get to come on this transatlantic voyage with her uncles and cousins. Sophie and Cody write in there journal about there impatience to leave and get to England and see there grandfather. It ends with a surprise about Sophie's identity. If you cannot get into boring books I wouldn't recommend reading this book. If you can, it is an exciting story.
Rating: Summary: The Wanderer Review: The two main characters are Cody and Sophie. Sophie is a person that was adopted when she was little. She and Cody are cousins. There are three to Sophie, a dreamy and romantic, down to Earth, and hard headed or mule headed. Cody is a person that seems to not take things seriously. Sphie has always imagined what it would be like to sail on the ocean. She has always wanted, but wasn't abled to because of her strict parents. But since other people in her family is going then she was abled to. They had to live like sailors. After a little while they got on to each other's nerves. Sophie told these Bompie stories to everybody. People started thinking that these stories is not true. Uncle Dock was taking the voyage for a certain reason. To me this book was kind of confusing to me in the beginning, because I didn't know who was the narrator. But in the middle I finally figured it out. I thought the book was ok. I wasn't really interested in this book. It was kind of boring. It was hard for me to get into.
Rating: Summary: The wanderer review Review: This book was really good. I think its metaphors, similies and personifications were very moving. I think it was very intersting and fun to read especially if you like journal enteries. Its good for boys and girls because they have Sophie's diary and Cody's journal
Rating: Summary: The Wanderer by Kaci Review: "The Wanderer", by Sharon Creech, is about a family aboard the boat, The Wanderer. They all set sail from the U.S. to England to see their grandfather, Bompie. Along the way, they face many challenges, such as dealing with the fog, unstoppable rain, and a storm that nearly rips the boat apart. In "The Wanderer", the crew face many challenges they need to overcome, but none like the strom. Once the storm comes, the crew must work together to make it through. You can get in on this experience by reading Sophie's and Cody's journal entries. "The Wanderer" has excitment and suspense. I would recommend "The Wanderer" to anyone who likes adventure stories, and to 4th-8th graders.
Rating: Summary: OK book Review: I think that THE WANDERER was a good book, but it was not the best book that I have ever read. I think this because it seemed a little childish to be talking about a thirteen year old as if they were a baby. Sharon was under estimating women and teens. Over all, it was an OK book.
Rating: Summary: The Wanderer Review: This is an interesting book. It explains Sophie and her feelings and thoughts. It has a little bit of humor in it but it mostly describes the trip from the U.S. all the way to England on a boat with five other men and JUST her! When you read it, you picture all these images in your head and you kind of make a little movie with the things she describes in the story. I think its an amazing story for all age groups!
Rating: Summary: WOw another great Sharon Creech book! Review: One of the things I love about Sharon Creech is that all of her books are connected in some way. Both this book and Walk Two Moons are wonderful books about 12 of 13 year old girls who have some secret that is carfully kept till the end so that until you learn all the details at the end yoou are dieing and when you figure it out, you are blown away. I love this book, but personally, I like Walk Two Moons Better.
Rating: Summary: It was a wonderful book! Review: Honestly, I thought that this book was amazing. So many details went into this book, which gave it its individuality. A young girl, Sophie, at the age of 13, travels with her 3 uncles and 2 cousins to visit her grandfather, Bompie. In the book, it describes her journey and her cousin's, Cody, jouney on the boat of "The Wanderer". I'd recommend this to all of the young, adventurous readers out there because it captures your mind and you can't help NOT turn the page. You can actually feel as if you were on the boat with Sophie, her uncles, and 2 cousins.. But the question I'd ask was,"Will they survive their journey?" Maybe you will too.
Rating: Summary: The Wanderer Review: Can you imagine sailing on "The Wanderer", watching the graceful dolphins pass you by, with your cousin Cody joking about every little thing? By you are on a journey, a journey to visit Grandfather Bompie across the ocean. But in this book, it all comes together. With a wonderfully written novel by Sharon Creech, no doubt it shouldn't have earned the Newberry. Its got extreme spunk that every kid of all ages will read and enjoy. It's got adventure and it all comes together. Sharon definitly has flair when she writes. Through Cody and Sophie's dairy's (or logs)you can actually feel the wind in your hair or the rain on your face. The book is mainly based on Sophie,an extremly realistic child that I felt I really got to know during the novel. She is accompinied by her three uncles and two cousins, as they sail across the ocean to be ruined with her grandfather, Bompie. But as they do so, Sophie's past becomes unfolded. This book will make you grasp on to your chair for dear life, and clutch the book until you find out what happens next. I definitly recomend this book, it's a Sharon Creech masterpeice.
