Rating: Summary: Wow Review: I read this book in my 7th grade reading class when i was in middle school, and for the past few years Ive been trying to remember the name and author so I could find her other books. As far as fantasy goes, it doesnt get mch better than this, so if youre looking for an incredible story and are tired of rereading the Lord of the Rings, check this tale out. It was my initiation into the realm of fantasy, and I havent looked back since.
Rating: Summary: This book was the best book I've ever read Review: I read an average of one to two books per week. That adds up to about eighty books a year. Of all these books, this was the best one I've ever read. Reason number one: It's exciting. There's never a dull moment but it's not so fast that you can't keep up. Reason number two: The language is easy to understand. This is not the kind of book where you read a paragraph then look up ten words in the dictionary before you read the next paragraph. Reason number three: It's written beautifully. The word choice is great. The words are harsh at some parts and soft at others, everything flows together. So if you're trying to find a good book, you need not look any further. You can't get better than this.
Rating: Summary: My most favorite book in the world Review: I first read The Hero and the Crown when I was 16. I am now almost 26 and I think I've read this book at least once a year every year since then. Robin McKinley's writing transports you so that you feel as if you are Aerin. I've been reading some of McKinley's other works but The Hero and the Crown is still by far my favorite. It may sound corny but Aerin was an inspiring role model for me as I was growing up.
Rating: Summary: perfect for readers of all ages, beautifully written Review: this is one of the best books ever. i'm 19 and i'm still rereading it. if i wrote all i thought about this book i would write for ever so all i'm saying is that it is good and you should buy it.
Rating: Summary: I wanted to live in those days, with these people. Review: I could not put the book down! Anyone can relate to Aerin, especially with the way Robin describes the detail. One minute I feel like I were in Aerin's shoes, the next minute, I'd be in Talot's. I've been searching for other Robin McKinley books to take me to a world such as this......the line between the supernatural and our "human" world is so fine, Robin's demonic world seemed just as natural as anything else. Why aren't there any movies with this kind of quality?! Are there Robin McKinley fan clubs out there?
Rating: Summary: Hopelessly dramatic person muses over book Review: Amazing, just amazing. There are some books in which, while reading them, you are no longer part of yourself, you are there, with the charachters, and you acutely feel and react with them and after you finish it it takes you a while to relize that you're not there anymore. This is one such book. Such books are very rare, so rare, in fact that I can count them on my fingers. I have read nearly all of Robin McKinley's published books and this is by very far the best. Carry on! I will eagerly await whatever new books she writes. Feel free to e-mail me about THe Hero and the Crown or any other SCi-fi fantasy book or any other related topic.
Rating: Summary: FABULOUS! WISH I'D READ IT WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER. Review: This woman can write a wonderful, magical story! How I wish I had discovered her novels when I was younger (hey maybe they weren't written yet?). But even now, as a 35 yr. old, I enjoyed her books tremendously and the spirit of her heroines captured my heart. Wonderful stories, truly. Better than other fantasy fiction I have read for adults, and better than other fantasy fiction writers.
Rating: Summary: This was an amazing, flowing book! I couldn't put it down! Review: This book captures the feelings of someone who has never fit in, and is an extremely well thought out book! Robin McKinley is amazing with her consistincy and constantly made me want to smile or to cry.
Rating: Summary: THANK YOU ROBIN MCKINLEY FOR THIS AMAZING BOOK Review: There are many, extremely good reviews about this book already, so I'll make this short. This book is incredible. Even though it's set in a complete fantasy relm, an average person can relate to characters and events. I have one warning- READ 'THE BLUE SWORD' FIRST. If you read 'The Blue Sword' (the sequel ) first, then you won't be as confused about many things. wonderful, awesome, amazing, beautiful, touching, great I'm embarrased to say, but I even cried...
Rating: Summary: Best Fantasy from the best fantasy writer Review: I don't know how Robin McKinley learned, but her style of writing is as mature and crystallized--and in its innocence, as effortless to look at--as diamond. She herself must have some kind of kelar; at any rate, this book is a must-read, and I say that out of a hate of saying cliches like that. Please read it--before you read the Blue Sword, if possible. Aerin is the hero one can believe in as well as "be."
