Rating: Summary: THE MOVIE Review: I work at a production company currently developing this book into a film. I personally can vouch for the quality and insight into a family with a child who suffers from a very strange disease. And the value that Terry's words contain and the spirit Terry inscribes with visual images and witty dialogue within it's chapters are heart stopping. Terry Trueman excels at not just being a poet but being an author with a spectacular range of emotion. I can only imagine how the movie will shake and rattle an audience.
Rating: Summary: take the bad with the good Review: A compelling book only because as one editorial review put it, it evokes "one of our darkest fears and deepest hopes-that a fully conscious and intelligent being may be hidden within such a broken body, as yet unable to declare his existence."But the plot was lame--VERY lame. It starts off on an interesting premise, but the author's clumsy emphasis on how Shawn's father intends to kill Shawn becomes overkill, especially when you reach the ending and find that--hey, you don't find out anything! It wasn't an "Ooh, Trueman skillfully let some threads dangle" but a complete copout. It was actually kind of corny. Maybe the kids of the age that this book was intended for won't realize this, & thus won't be let down. Let's hope.
Rating: Summary: Scary Review: I don't mean to sound shallow in any way but this book will make me look differently at those who are mentally challeneged in anyway for the rest of my life. It makes you wonder what these people are thinking the whole time your trying to talk to them but they can't answer you back. It's kind of scary thinking someone that has been stuck inside there body there whole life can still know and watch everything you do or say. Even though they look so harmless and pretty much are there's so much more to them. This book really shows that people shouldn't just make assumptions about those who are challenged in ways, they can still be smart, funny, and perfectly human. I think everyone needs to read this book so they know not to treat people differently just because of something that person can't change about themselves.
Rating: Summary: Stuck In Neutral Review: This book is a very good and emotional novel about a 14-year old boy who has cerebal palsy, named Shawn. Shawn loves his life, family and not to mention the ocasional potato chip from his brother, but his father can't stand to see him in a seziure which for Shawn are wonderful moments of freedom. Throught the 2nd half of the book Shawn is extreamly aware of his fathers wishes to "end his pain", the end is kinda of confusig at first but when you read it closer you know what happens.

Rating: Summary: Simply Incredible!!! Review: This book touches face with the reality of a truly gifted mind trapped behind the physical attributes of a child with cerebral palsey. It uses a perfect metaphor as its title. The genius behind the creation of this story shows Trueman's real passion for the psychological impacts of today's handicapped. I promise once you read this book, you will think twice about turning away or staring at a person with a physical disability. This book touches the reader in the most amazing place--- the heart of the human spirit!!!
Rating: Summary: View Review: Truth be told I only got this book through my school's book club and I only wanted it because at a reasonable distance and given my nearsightedness I thought the cover look horribly interesting. I found that relevant because of the irony between my wanting the book and what the book is about. The story really does show that what an outside appearance conveys can often be misleading. I would suggest this book to anyone, whether you are apathetic or not. Me being the insanely emotion-filled person I am cried for a while after finishing, even though it wasn't really a horrificly sad ending. If you think you might be interested in it even a little bit then get it. It may give you a new perspective on something you may not have given much thought to.
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: This book was pretty good. It had an interesting story line and was written from a very different perspective. It really made me imagine what it would be like to have CP (cerebal palsy) The ending leaves you hanging, but overall it was very creativley written. It is also a very quick read, as I read it in 1 night (...). I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys learning more about something they don't know much about, or who just enjoys a quick read.
Rating: Summary: My Review Review: The book Stuck In Neutral was a very good book. Terry Trueman wrote a very good book, and I think it came out to be a very good book. The ending was my favorite, because it was good. You could have probably never guessed it. See the book is about a 14 year old boy, who thinks his father is going to kill him. The ending is not really what would have been expected. The book is very good, so when you have a chance to read, or you're looking for a good book, look to Stuck In Neutral by Terry Trueman.
