Summary: May leave false impression
Review: I really liked the book, but found myself wondering if it would give a false impression to readers about what it's like to have a seizure. My son does not have cerebral palsy, but he does have partial complex seizures. He has no memory whatsoever of his seizures. Trueman's book gives the impression that seizures are a wonderful event. I have not heard of people with seizure disorders looking forward to their seizures. Does Trueman base this on facts or is it just his own surmising? I'd love to hear from parents or children with CP.

Summary: Stuck in Neutral
Review: The book Stuck in Neutral is really a great book. I'd give it 5 golden stars. The main character Shawn McDaniel has cerebral palsy, he can not walk, talk, blink or swallow on his own. But he is really an amzing genius who is trapped inside his own body. He can remember everything he has ever heard or seen. And he loves his life although he is disabled. But he has seizures, and his father can not stand to see his son in pain. But he did not know that Shawn is not in great pain, he actually enjoys his seizures, they allow him to be free. But his father did not know, he loves his son too much, he even wants to kill Shawn to end his pain! Will his father kill Shawn or save Shawn? The book Stuck in Neutral is very exciting, and funny. I highly recommend this book. It is full of suprises, and full of scarybut awesome events. Some times they make you shiver, but more importantly, they make you wander. A paralyzed and retarded boy like Shawn McDaniel can love his life so much, what is the reason for us not to love it? Once again, I highly recommend this book.

Shawn has a dad that can't deal with Shawns condition and is thinking about putting Shawn out of his misery. Everyone thought Shawn couldn't think inside because of his appearence but he really can think. To find out if Shawn's dad kills Shawn READ THE BOOK!

Summary: Stuck In Neutral
Review: Retarded? Paralyzed? Which do you think when a boy can't talk, walk, move, or not control anything that his body ever does? Retarded, right?? Wrong!! How's it sound so far? Because it only gets better. It's called Stuck In Neutral. Caroline B. Cooney writes it. There is a problem in every book right? Well, this one is huge. Shawn McDaniel is paralyzed throughout his whole body. When he was young a blood vessel exploded inside his brain. And now he can't control anything that his body does...ever!!! He has seizures every once and a while, everybody thinks that they are really hurting him, but they're not. He loves them, it is the only time when he can actually feel what it's like to walk run and do all the stuff that we take for granted. His father wants to end his pain, and Shawn thinks his father is planning to kill him but he doesn't know it for sure. If you like these kind of books you will definitely like this book, I suggest it very strongly.

Sincerely,

Devin Roberts

Summary: My hopefully helpful review for a very good book!
Review: "Stuck In Neutral" By Terry Trueman was a very wonderful book. In it, you read about the life of a mentally and physically challenged teenage boy, Sean, through his eyes, and see things from his point of view and what he thinks of those things in his life. It is also about the knowledge of how his Dad really thinks Sean's "pain" should end which adds mystery to the story. It makes you feel that you know exactly what a person of his nature thinks and feels in this story even though no one really knows exactly. This is one of those books you will not be able to put down. This story has given me a different feeling about persons with disabilities.

Summary: Gave me chills
Review: In truth, I wasn't really excited about reading this book. Several friends had recommended it, but it didn't sound like anything I'd relate to. Boy, was I wrong. The author, Terry Trueman, did a great job of allowing the reader to relate to the main character. The voice was really excellent, and funny in places . . . but it also kept you in suspense. I read the book in, like, three hours and woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it. Highly recommended.

Summary: Stuck In neutral
Review: The book "Stuck in Neutral" by Terry Truman is a great book. Five stars on my scale. It's about a boy named Shawn who is paralyzed and retarded. He overhears his parents having an argument and his dad talks about how he should save him the pain and kill him and put him put of his misery, but when his dad says "Put him out of his misery," that isn't necessarily true. He is fine living a normal life as a paralyzed person and almost enjoys it. He remembers this incident and everything else that has happened to him because he has an exact photographic memory. Shawn waits and waits, asking himself will his dad pull the plug? I like this book because it is extremely exciting. It has so much suspense it makes you keep reading. It is so creative the way Shawn tells about the events of his days as an crippled person. "Stuck in Neutral" is full of awesome and scary events that make you shiver. It is a great book, I strongly recommend it to anyone above the age of ten. This is because it may be an excellent book, but excellent book it has a lot of adult moments. So read the book and find out what happens to Shawn, will he live?

Summary: It should be read by everyone
Review: Stuck In Neurtral is a great book. It gives people an insight on how mentally handcaped people feel. It makes you think about how you treat people with a dissorder. It show that we as people just assume that mentally dissabled people don't know antthing, and this make yoou feel like wow. In places this book will make you laugh, get mad, and even choke up. I think everyone should read this book. The main character Shawn has Cerebral Paulsy and what some people think the mental comasity of a 3-4 month old but in fact he can be classified as a genius. He can remember everything from the age of 4yrs. old and he is now 14(almost15).

Summary: it touched me.......
Review: because I have a sister with special needs. My sister doesn't speak and neither did our hero. He is trying to bond with his father who apparantly cannot handle his special needs. Even though I'm only 13, I can see how he feels. I would recommend this book to anyone who's interested in learning how it feels to not be able to communicate.
