Rating: Summary: Defininitely one of the best! Review: This was the first book I read about the Holocaust, and it's gotten me interested in World War II. Johanna Weiss makes it all very believable and suspensful. I was on the edge of my seat when the Nazis setup headquarters in the living room. I couldn't put it down. If you liked this book, you should read 'When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit', 'Number the Stars', and 'The Devil's Arithmatic'.
Rating: Summary: A very excellent book that is hard to put down. Review: I loved this book. Although, the beginning was a little hard to get into to [most books are like this], once I got past that, I couldn't put the book down. If you really want to get a feel for what real life was like during the holocaust, make sure to read this book. It had me in tears at the end.

Rating: Summary: The Upstairs Room is an amazing book. Review: This book is so sad and it is written tremendously well. It is so easy to believe because of the great detail the author wrote it with. The author makes the characters come to life. This is one of the best books I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: wonderful account of a history that needs to be remebered Review: I am a jewish girl who didn't really understand my family history untill I read the accounts of Johanna Reiss. Being brought up in a jewish family I was well aware of what had happened in the past, but I never accutally heard from my family what really went on. This novel showed me the people's piont of view. I loved it and have also red the sequel. If you enjoryed this book make sure to read The Devil's Arthmatic.
