Rating: Summary: A must read! Review: The Upstairs Room is one of the best books I have ever read! I especially recommend it to teachers who are teaching about WWII. Also read the sequal The Journey Back. I hope you take my advicand read these books. You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: The Upstairs Room Review: I personally did not enjoy the book The Upstairs Room by Johanna Reiss. When I started reading the book it was interesting but I noticed after four or five chapters it became really boring. What had happened in those chapters was that Annie (the main character) had to go to a couple of different hiding places so she could live.Next, the chapters became boring because Annie stayed in the same home but had no adventures to tell after living there. I would recommend this if you think that hiding during the Holocaust is cool then this book is for you.In conclusion, I hope that you enjoy.
Rating: Summary: The Upstairs Room Review: The Upstairs Room is a great book. I would recommend it to people who want to know about World War 2. SomethingsI knowtest is that it didn't tell what happened to people in concentraion camps. Next I knowtest what the characters did I would have done. Also I seen somethings I would have done differently. Like when the father said that they were going to America and mother said she wasn't going so they stayed. I would have made them leave.I think it was an interrasting book.
Rating: Summary: The Upstairs Room Review: I liked the book the upstairs room. I thought it had some good points and some bad points in it. I thought the way things went along with the book is what really happened. But I think it went along with Anne Franks Diary like the same things happen that happened in anne Frank's Diary. It was also a good learning for people like me who did not know much about what happened during that time.It got me instreated in reading more books on that subjet and also more books that Johanna Reiss writes. I encourage all people espasically kids to read this book you will like it I liked it.
Rating: Summary: The Upstairs Room Review: I think the book The Upstairs Room was very good. I liked how it explained what life could be like for Jews during the Holocaust without going into any really terrible details. It was nice to read a book about a Jew that was in hiding because it makes you understand that you shouldn't take things for granted. It was inspiring to read about a girl my age that survived the Holocaust but was in hiding for 2 years. I think this is a great book and you should definitely read it. I enjoyed it very much.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book Review: The Upstairs Room is a wonderful book. I read it in the 5th grade. It has been my favorite book for years. The story is about a young girl and pretty much her whole family excaping the Nazi party during World War Two. I find the affects of that war powerful. Only though I am young I still can understand what this book means. The book was perfect and it bieng based on a true story makes me cry. i recomend this book for any one who is curious as I am.
Rating: Summary: It was an excellant book, I laughed, I cried, I loved it! Review: I think that "The Upstairs Room", by Johanna Reiss is excellant, and I loved every bit of it. I cried, and I laughed. It showed the painful realization that these people actually went through that. I am writing a book report on "The Upstairs Room", and it isn't boring. This book is a great one to read, because it keeps you on your toes. It doesn't deserve five stars, ore like fifty!!!
Rating: Summary: you have to read this!!! Review: This book was fabulous! It's definately one of the best Holocaust books out there. It has great character development and a very suspenseful plot. Also the first person perspective tells the story in a whole new way. The book is about a Jewish family, the deLeeuws, from holland, who tries to go into hiding. While the germans are throwing people out of their homes, Annie who is six and her older sister Sini hide. at the same time their mother is terribly sick and their other sister Rachel stays to take care of her. Later in the book Annie and Sini hide in the Oostervelds, a simple Gentile farming family. the story unfolds into a wonderful relationship between the deLeeuws and the Oostervelds. this book is a must! Read it and learn what some people will do to save a life. I couldent put it down and i'm sure you wont either.
Rating: Summary: The Upstairs Room is a superb book. Review: This autobiography took place in Usselo, Holland in an upstairs room of a farmhouse. Two courageous girls surviving the war, cramped up in a room for two years were unable to go outside or even look outside in fear that some non-Jew will see them. This is a sad yet true story. I couldn't imagine being in a room for over a day let alone two years like these brave girls did. This book is captivating, and being that it is a true story makes it even more stunning. World War II separated and killed many families. This story shows survival.
