Summary: An inspiring story
Review: The Upstairs Room was a very well written book. I hope that other people will enjoy this book as well as I have. This book has inspired me to never give up in times of trial. I thought that this book could teach adults as well as children to be humble and how to deal with times of need when you are alone. I loved this book and encourage you to read it.

Summary: The Upstairs Room
Review: To start off this book review I will tell you about the author Johanna Reiss, she has only written one other book and it is called the Journey Back. next I'll tell you about the setting. This historical fiction book takes place in Usselo,Holland during the Holocaust, were two little girls Annie and Sini will take you on a journey about they're history. the main character of this booki is Annie. She used to be young and happy until her mom died, she also was a smart girl. During the holocaust Annie was afraid of German Soilders. In the book it tells how Annie and Sini were almost found it also tells the characters emotions about how they were scared and fritened. I think this book relates to one of the characters in the book Parrallel Journeys, her name is Helen and she is a Jew who went to Aushwitz and Kruatz. The theme of the book is showing how hard it was for Jews to hide from Germans. My opion of the was that, I didnt like the book so much for the content but for how ell written the book was. Also the book had very little action in it. I would recomend this book to girls because the content of the book was more fit towards girls, so I would recomend this book for girls ages 10 and up.

Summary: The Upstairs Room
Review: My book is called The Upstairs Room. The author is Johanna Reiss. It takes place during the holocaust the city of Usselo. The main character is Annie, whose mom isn't in a good condition she is dying and really sick. The main message is that all men are equal like the nazis were killing the jews. At the begining Annie was at her own house with her family. Then in the middle she had to hide. At the end she went back to her house. This book has five award. I recommend this book to 6th graders and up because there are some inappropriate words in the book. I like this book because it had alot to do with Annie, a jewish girl, hiding in two families' homes during the world war two. I think this book was good because it had alot to do with the war and tha holocaust. Also a family were Annie's sister stays with their mom for a tragic reason and Annie has to leave. So i really recommend that you read this book.

Summary: I really don't like this book
Review: This is about the book "The Upstairs Room" by Johanna Reiss. This book takes place in Holland during the Holocaust. The main character is a worried nine year old Jewish girl named Annie that had to hide in a backroom for years and couldn't go outside, she also hid underground. She has two sisters (Sini and Rachel). It reminds me of a wonderful Holocaust book called " Parallel Journeys".

The theme of the book was to treat all men equal. It wasn't fair that Hitler made the Jews hide and kill them. It's like the pharse " Treat others as you want to be be treated yourself". I didn't like the book because nothing exciting happend, I didn't like all the cuss words, I also didn't like all the crying and hugging, and I'm more interested in boys being the main character because I am one.

I recommend this book to a girl in sixth grade or above because the main character is a girl, it has a lot of dramatic parts, and the cuss words are inapropriate.

Summary: Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful
Review: I first read this book when I was in the 6th grade, and I have read it many times since. It tells the story(true story) of two Jewish sisters, Annie and Sini, who must go into hiding during the holocaust. It is a wonderful first-hand account of the fears and joys that these girls shared. They stayed with a kind family in the country, who risked their own lives, to help these girls. There are so many interesting things in this book, like the small hiding place they built in the attic, in case the nazis came. One of the most touching stories, is when the girls, having been locked up for months, are smuggled outside in a wheelbarrow, and allowed to lay in a field so that they can feel the sun. The first time I read this book, I felt as though I were with Annie and Sini. Johanna Reiss tells her story in a beautiful and touching way. Her descriptions are so vivid, that you can "see" the attic they lived in, and the family they lived with. I highly recommend that everyone read this wonderful tale.

Summary: The Upstairs Room is a book about...
Review: The Upstairs Room The Upstairs Room is a book about the Second World War. It tells about Annie de Leeuw, who is a Jewish girl in Holland. Soon Annie and one of her to sisters have to go into hiding together because of the Germans. They hid with the Oostervelds, a nice little family who lived on a farm in the town of Usselo. Then Annie and Sini, her sister, are built a hiding place in a closet incase of a German raid. Then one night they have to use it. The Upstairs room is a great book that I recommend to any one who likes books about World War 2. It is a good book that any one who can read should read this book.

Summary: The Upstairs Room
Review: The Upstairs Room by Johanna Reiss was a great book!! It had a lot of suspense in it too! The way the book was written, was great because it explained a lot about how the Jewish people suffered from the Germans taking over different countries. It also was a really good because you don't know what is going to happen in the end of the book. I gave this book a rating of five stars because of how great the book was written and explained. You should read it!

Summary: It's really a good book
Review: I am twelve years old and I just finished the book. It was a good book based on the author's experience as a Jewish child during the second world war. Annie de Leuuw was about nine years old when she went with one of her two sisters into hiding. They were at the Hanniks' first and eventually went to the Oostervelds'. It's a brilliant book and I would recomend it for ages 10-14. Anyone can read it but it's more for young adults.

Summary: Good concept, could have been better
Review: The story is good. I liked the concept and the idea. I think that the writing in this particular is more for younger childre, more of an elementary level. The story moved to fast. There were not enough details given to support what was going on. In my opinion, you didn't get to know the characters well enough. They didn't really develope. There was just a brief description at the begining. Also, it was to choppy. The story didn't flow very smoothly. Next, some parts were unclear. Such as when a person was speaking. A few people were talking and there was no name in front of the speech so you didn't always know who was talking. Finally, at parts of importance, there was no stress to make them seem more important. The writing could have been more descriptive so you get a good picture of what's goiong on. Some other books about the holocaust that are a little more descriptive are "The Devil's Arithmatic" and "Number the Stars."

Summary: ~^*!a great book!*^~
Review: This is a wonderful Holocaust book and it tells the true story of a little girl named Annie(the narrator). She and her sister, Sini I think her name was, had to go into hiding in a couple's attic. They were very bored a lot of the time and with not much to do for a couple of years, who wouldn't be bored?

Annie learns of what has almost certainly happened to her family and of what could happen to not only her sister and herself, but the couple who took them in, if they were caught.

The couple makes them a hiding place in a closet where there is a sort of wall that is shifted and the girls can fit in but the space is very small and cramped. Of course, the Nazi's do end up coming, and the girls end up hiding in their place...but what happens next? You'll just have to get the book and find out for yourself. ^_^
