Rating: Summary: Somewhat dissapointed Review: This book is the so-called true diary of a teenager who became pregnant from her boyfriend. Annie was a happy, carefree fourteen-year-old teen when she met Danny. They quickly became fast friends, and Annie decided she "love, love, loved him!" However, Danny was not the person Annie thought he was. One night, he raped her, but Annie still believed that he had just gone crazy and would return to normal soon. He did return to normal, and they became even closer. In fact, on many occasions, Danny and Annie would have "it". When Annie took a home pregnancy test, she discovered that she was pregnant. Danny refused to help her and dumped her, while her journal (and her mother) became her only source of comfort and security. Being pregnant also brought many changes- Annie switched to a school for unwed mothers, she stopped thinking about Danny all the time, and she focused most of her attention on preparing for the baby and taking care of it. Annie chronicles in her diary the feelings of being pregnant, and she reveals all of her inner thoughts and emotions, so at times, the writing style seems a little choppy and pathetic. When Annie's baby was born, she faced even more responsibility taking care of her. The ending will either break your heart or have you feeling relieved.I found several problems with this book. First of all, as mentioned above, I doubt this story is "true". It was in the fiction section of the library, what can I say? I think that Beatrice Sparks just read the diaries of several pregnant teenagers, and based on their entries, she edited them and combined them into a book. Second, the writing, also mentioned above, could be at far times very choppy and strange. Yes, it's the diary of a fourteen-year-old girl, but I doubt many people write the way Annie does. When she's happy, she's all bubbly, and repeats ideas over and over again. When she's depressed, she often curses and says how horrible life is. I tell you, it can get sickening hearing Annie say that her life is perfect one minute and the next hearing her cuss like there's no tommorrow. Furthermore, the title is very misleading. Annie's baby isn't born until about 3/4 of the way through the book, so much of its content doesn't focus on it. A different title, such as "Pregnant Annie" or "A Pregnant Teenager's Diary" would have been much more suiting. Overall, I found this book to be okay. It's good if you want a quick, lighthearted read, but don't read it if you're looking for an inspirational story or a book with a lot of substance.
Rating: Summary: Not Great Review: This book is okay. I didn't understand how the title goes with the story? They hardly talk about the baby besides in the end and not even that much. Plus when she writes in her diary she always says sorry for saying something she is expressing. Why would you say sorry for expressing how you feel? Anyways the story is okay, but If you have the chance to get this book or something else get something else!
Rating: Summary: Pregnant Anne Review: The book should be called "Pregnant Anne" not "Anne's Baby" Base on those review I read, the books rarely talk about annie's baby. It talked about her and her boyfriend, and her being pregnant. I disagree with the poor title of the book. I thought it was going to be especially about a baby not Anne...like the baby getting sick or something.
Rating: Summary: GREAT book Review: This is an awsome book for pre-teens and teenagers!!! It teaches us the the consequences of our decision and what decisions not to make untill were ready. The story is a mixture of sadness, regret, and happiness. You should definitly read this book.
Rating: Summary: Not too impressive. Review: After reading Go Ask Alice (also edited by Beatrice Sparks), I expected this book to be just as intense, brutally honest, and realistic. However, Annie's Baby left me feeling very disappointed. From the very first entry, it is difficult to take Annie very seriously, and I did not feel as if I could relate at all to her attitude and seemingly lightheaded way of thinking. ("I'm lying here on my bed going over and over and over the awesomeness of it all. HE wants ME to be HIS friend! I want to be! I really do want to be! More than I've ever wanted anything in the world in my whole life!") Annie is too vulnerable, too flimsy, and it seems that she is just plain TRYING to put herself in bad situations. The way in which she talks about Danny even before she knows his name further proves just how naive she is. The book would definitely have been more enjoyable with a more stable and realistic character. There are points in the book where Annie attempts to convey the deep, painful emotions she feels after Danny beats her, rapes her, and after she finds out she is pregnant due to having unprotected sex with her supposed dream-come-true boyfriend. But the reader will have a hard time feeling the emotions she speaks about themselves, because of the predictable outcome: Annie still wants to be with Danny, she loves him, he needs her, she wants to help him, it's all her fault. Even during the most suspenseful and dramatic moments (when Annie nearly suffocates her baby; when Annie attempts to abandon her baby), the book lacks in its ability to make the reader feel like they are experiencing these events as well. Although the "characters" and "plot" of the book are predictable, dry, and aggravatingly boring, it may be of use to a teen girl who is experiencing what Annie has firsthand.
Rating: Summary: wonderful book Review: when i read annis's baby i thought that it was a wonderful book . it taught you stuff like having baby's, what's love and many other things. and it really caught me and it was a page turner.
Rating: Summary: This is almost as good as IT HAPPENED TO NANCY Review: This is a book for teenagers primarily, but this 20 year old enjoyed the book immensely. It is about a girl named "Annie" who gets in a relationship with an abusive guy named Danny and then becomes pregnant by him. I thought that "Annie" was too naive and stupid at times. I wouldn't have stayed with Danny for anything. I believe she suffered from very low self-esteem. Overall, its a must read for teenagers and women alike.
Rating: Summary: Sad and Beautiful Review: Annie's Baby is a very good book and I highly recommend it. This book surprised me because of the shocking abuse and her confusion. Annie was so innocent and naive (not stupid!). The fact that she was so innocent and sweet and had so many troubles made the book so sad. The fact that she was pregnant was not the sad part, I do not think it is really "wrong" to get pregnant at a young age, but she had never experienced anything very harsh until she met Danny. She was so inexperienced that she believed him and trusted him. I wanted to protect Annie and warn her. This book is not unrealistic. Annie's Baby is so incredibly real that I felt tears in my eyes. Annie and her baby were real people. Annie's story could hep many teens avoid unhealthy relationships and possibly unwanted pregnancy. Annie is really a very brave girl and she deserves respect.
Rating: Summary: No comment Review: This book made me sick. How can a fourteen year old still stay with an abusive boyfriend who rapes her?I hope people are not like this in real life it's really shameful and naming the baby sfter her?
Rating: Summary: annie's gets pregnet Review: This was a grate book! This book is about a girl who tinks she is nothing grate. Then she meats a gye named Danny, they start to date and nothing goes wrong. then Annie finds out that her boyfriend is sixteen! He was in a car crash and ended up in a coma and had to go back to eighth grade. one night Annie gose over to Danny's house and she gets raped bye him,but she is still deeply in love with him. Danny calls and begges her to forgive him and of corse she forgives him. Then they "do stuff" and Annie becomes prengent. She tells danny and he goes crazy and hits her and smackes her. Annie has a hard time telling her mom, but whan she tells her mom and she is very undersanding of her and the get through this crists togther.I had to give this book five stars because I picked the book up and stared reading it and finished it in one day I think all girls should be reading this book right now!
