Rating: Summary: This book is very powerful. Review: This girl wonderfully portrays the hardships of being a pregnant teenager. This beautifully written story captures your attention, for every word brings you one step closer to the book's true meaning.
Rating: Summary: A powerful look into a confused teenager's life. Review: This is one of the best books ever put out. It really shows what a teen goes through in life. I, myself, am about Annie's age and have thought many times about having unprotected sex. My thought was "Everyone else is doing it, why not me?" But after reading this book, it made me realize what could happen. While it's a rough look into Annie's life, the harshness portrays the real goings on. To anyone who is considering reading this, it's a great book and frightenignly realistic.
Rating: Summary: an insperational story! Review: I'm really into Lurleen McDaniel books but this one cought my eye. My best-friend went through the same thing. I think every teenager that is having sex should read this book.
Rating: Summary: The sad reality of a pregnant teen. Review: Annie is a fourteen year old girl who fell for a guy named Danny like a magnet. At first he was very kind and sincere but he often whould physically abuse her. In Annie's diary she pours out all her pain and sorrow. I felt Annie was an innocent kid who knew nothing better but to continue going with Danny even after each terrible incident. When Annie discovers she is pregnant she doesn't know what to do. She is scared to tell her mom or Danny. Who wouldn't be? Eventually Annie tells Danny and he he tells her to go pout to all the other guys she messes around with. Soon Annie gets up the courage to tell her mother, who does nothing but comefort Annie. Annie decides she won't get an abortion. She prepares for a small baby in her home. As soon as the baby is born Annie finds out how much work a baby is. Can Annie get her life together? This book is good for any person, teen through adult, because it deals with a real problem that many teens go through.
Rating: Summary: Soooo Depressing Review: This book made me mad, since the girl, "Annie", was, in my mind, very dumb. I kept thinking, "Can't she see that that boy's abusing her!?" I would have dumped him after the first incident, not waited around and gotten pregnant. And if a guy ever hit me, OOOoooohhh, I would dump them so fast. I know there are a lot of teenagers out there that are that dumb, but most of us know better. The book was really unrealistic and very deep and depressing, which isnt really good for teens, since depressing books provoke depressing thoughts. Some people say that deep, thoughtful, depressing books are upliftingm, but that doesn't really make much sense. I guess though, if you don't have anything else to read, then go ahead and depress yourself, but, whatever.
Rating: Summary: A wonderfully informative book! Review: I learned a lot from this book, more than maybe I wanted to know. Before this, I believe i kind of shielded myself from all of that kind of stuff, but now, I know that I have to learn. I beleive that by reading this book, I will become a safer teenager.
Rating: Summary: It was great! I cried myself to sleep for several nights.. Review: This book was absolutly wonderful!! it really touched me and I became more aware of the people around me. Also more cautious. If you liked this book I would recommend "Go Ask Alice" it's great! I am in the middle of Jay's Journal, which is so far, really good too. If you aren't an emotional person I wouldn't reacommend it though. But if you are, you'll really like it!!
Rating: Summary: " Annie's Baby: The Diary of Anonymous, A Pregnant Teenager" Review: I had finished reading this very good book that was full of morals. Despite my 4 star rating, I enjoyed it every step of the way. The reason why I have reviewed it as such is because the fact that the diarist sounds more like a 10 year old than a 14 year old in the way the book has been written. I find it hard to believe that Beatrice Sparks would beguile us into thinking that she has written the book and others like "Jay's Journal", " It Happened to Nancy", "Almost Lost: The True Story of an Anonymous Teenager's Life on the Streets," and " Go Ask Alice". These books could not have been possibly written by her. An experienced person in those areas would be the only ones to write about their stories. Anne Frank, a famous Jewish diarist from World War II, was no phony. " Annie's Baby: The Diary of Anonymous, A Pregnant Teenager" is a book that I recommend for ages 14 and up. I believe that children should grow up with this book, and others like it, to learn about the world in a serious and mature tone. Rape, pregnancy, STDs, abuse, a typical teenager's life in such crisises, and as well as the maturity to deal with them are all in the book. Please, I urge you to read this other and others like them to teach not only yourself but your children or possible children, and other present children that life is not a game but a gift full of responsiblities to growp up maturely in both the spirit and the body.
Rating: Summary: Every teenager should have a copy of this book!! Review: Annie's diary taught me a great deal about what it is like to go through a pregnancy at such a young age. I loved this book because it was so realistic and filled with so much emotion. It was so well written that I really could understand what she felt and how confused she was. This is a great book and teens should really learn from Annie's experience.
Rating: Summary: It was very sad!! Review: I really liked this book, it was sad but good. I think all girls 12-15 should read this book, beacuse I now know what to watch for. I learned a lot.
