Rating: Summary: A Good Book Review: I thought the book was good because on some parts I felt sorry for Alyce. The part I liked was when Alyce and Will started being friends. While reading the book I learned not to give up and keep on trying. But I did't read the whole book.
Rating: Summary: It's an okay book Review: I thought this book was okay, because it shows how strong one could be.I liked the part at the end where Alyce delivers the baby and realizes that if she failed once it doesn't mean that you can't suceed again. I learned that if you failed try,try agian until you get where you want to be.
Rating: Summary: A cinderella type story Review: I think it fell along the guide lines of a cinderella story. Beutifully detailed. I loved it!
Rating: Summary: A wonderful and educational novel Review: This is a wonderfully written book that educates about medievil times and entertains with the story of a young women's apprenticeship.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as Catherine, called Birdy Review: Though not as clever or witty as CATHERINE, CALLED BIRDY, THE MIDWIFE's APPRENTICE is a more serious and lonely story of a girl without the priveldges of a princess-as Catherine has- but is more down to earth and meek, making her a more delecate person to read. While I was dissapointed to find that there was no little romance story twisted in, this book was quite capable of keeping me awake.
Rating: Summary: An absolutely wonderful story! Review: This is absolutely one of my very favorites. Definitely a girl's book, it tells of a young woman striving to find herself, who she really is. I absolutely loved it. I read it all in one night.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED IT. Review: The Midwife's Apprentice is one of the best books I've ever read. It is about a young woman in the early fourteenth century finding her own voice and self worth. She saves a cat helps some people and delivered a baby or two. I recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: A good story Review: I enjoyed this story and often recommend it to students in grades 6-8. More geared towards girls.
Rating: Summary: Read this book! Review: The Midwife's Apprentice is one of the best book I have ever read. It was given to me as a gift, and I am eternally grateful to the giver, for otherwise I would never have read the book! This tells the story of a girl, called, among other things, Beetle. She has been homeless her entire life, but one morning, after sleeping in the dung heap, she is taken in by a midwife "with a sharp nose and a sharp glance and wimple starched into sharp pleats." She lives with the midwife, helps her, and gradually discovers a place for herself in the village. I wish she could have made more of a romance with Will, but that's what sequals are for! :0) This book is at the top of my must-read list. It should be o yours, too.
Rating: Summary: A poor girl rises out of the ashes Review: A midwife finds a girl who is poor sleeping in a dung pile in her yard. As she(Alyce, A.K.A. Beetle) becomes older, she matures and realizes what she has to do to get around in the world. As her life progresses, she saves a life or two, helps a little boy back on his feet, and is pushed around by a midwife with an attitude. If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh, cry, and laugh all over again, than you should read "The Midwife's Apprentice" by Karen Cushman.
