Summary: Dicey's Song by, Cynthia Voigt
Review: This is a great sequel to voigts first book Homecoming. Dicey's Song takes place on a huge farm in the county on a bay. The book wraps up all the lose ends left in Homecoming but it also adds some new conflicts for example, whats going to happen if Dicey's mom ever gets well again. Or what ever happened to the sail boat. In the book Dicey's has to learn to let go of the past but not forget it. Here borthers and sister along with her grandmother help her to learn. The are a couple bad parts about the book though. They are as follows: First off there are more conflicts that are created but never answered like, what ever happened to maybeth, Dicey's younger sister. Also the book was boring at times like in one of the chapter there is little to no dialog at all and all that is talked about is Diceys thoughts. Finally the ending is not very strong and it just ended. The reader expects more at the end. On a better side of things the book was very well written and especially in the first two chapters were alot of information was covered along with alot of time. The first two chapters were jam packed with information that if you did not read them you were lost for the rest of the book. The farm is right next to a bay and Voigt's disription of the water is amazing. Over all the book was very well written and all the questions posed in Homecoming were answed along with Voigt adding some new conflicts that hopefully will be addressed in a nother sequal.

Summary: I can read this book over and over and over . . .
Review: Every time I re-read this book, I find something new. If I were going to a desert island, this would be on my you-can-take-only-ten-books-with-ya list. I must have read it a hundred times thru by now. Only this morning, I found a single paragraph near the end and somehow pulled something sentimental out of it. I cried for a little while. PLEASE read this book the next chance you have. It is the most convincing, well-written book. It'll make you think really hard, harder than you ever had about most things. I'd love it if you wrote me to tell me what you think.

Summary: the story is deep sad and boring all at once
Review: Dicey has had a hard summer keeping her two brothers and one sister alive. She starts a new life with her grandmother near Chesapeake Bay, gets a job and starts school. Her essay she writes for school is some of the only info on her menally ill mother. The most poignant part of the story is the end and it takes a while to get going.overall a pretty good book.

Summary: great!! two thumbs up!!
Review: I think Dicey's Song was a great book and an excellent sequal to homecoming. They were both really good books. Cynthia Voigt has a great perspective on the thoughts of Dicey and Gram. She makes a good picture in your mind of what each person is feeling and thinking. Dicy's Song is a book that I really enjoyed and couldn't seem to put it down. Cynthia did a great job of writing this book and I personally can't wait for another sequal.

Summary: Dicey lears that growing up is harder when done too fast
Review: This was a fantastic story. The lessons that Dicey has learned in the story are ones that every person seems to learn the hard way. The author uses fantastic comparisions the paint incredible pictures. This book makes me think analytically, and everytime I read it I find new meaning in the beatiful language. Dicey's Song is one of the best books I have ever read, and if it was possible, I would give it ten stars instead of five.

Summary: Give it time to grow on you.
Review: I was introduced to Dicey as a minor character in "A Solitary Blue." When I started "Dicey's Song" I was disappointed at first in how slowly the story moved--I wanted to know more about Dicey. I stuck with it though and was glad I did! I loved the book and have recommended it to many students. I've also started to read the rest of the series. If you haven't read Voigt's other title, "Izzy Willy Nilly" you MUST. Every teenager should read that book. We're using it as a book club selection this year at the junior high, just like Oprah's club!

Summary: Dicey and her struggle to unite her family.
Review: Dicey's Song, by Cyntjia Voigt starts with Dicey, a 13 year old girl who has always taken care of her siblings, James, Sammy, and Maybeth having to move with their grandmother (Gram). At first everything was just fine but then their problems start showing up. Maybeth has some learning problems, Jams has a low-self confidence, and Sammy was just not being himself. Dicey gets worried but Gram tells her that in life there are lots of problems and that they have to face them. By living with Gram, Dicey slowly starts to live her own live and doesn't have to worry about everyone's problems but ther own. Dicey realizes that there are problems but htey are less tragic than they seem. Things are going very well for the Tillermans, but Dicey and Gram have to go to Boston. Mr. Lingerle stays with the kids and Dicey discovers something that would make a difference in their lives. Dicey's Song is a good novel. I like novels that deal with real life issues, like Dicey and her struggle to unite her family. I also like novels where the characters have problems becasue that gives me a chance to think what would I do in that situatio. The only thing I don't like about this novel is that it goes very slowly and that it doesn't have thet many events, it is more like "A Year in the Life of Dicey". What I could get most out of this book is that it is really hard to let go of people who you took care of for a long time and that it's not easy to change.

Summary: A family striving to maintain together
Review: I never read a book that was heart touching as this.Dicey's song talks about how the Tillerman strive to live.Dicey does her best to keep her family. Dicey, her sister and her brothers live with out parents.Their Dad is dead and their mother is in mental hospital. They are sent to live with their grandmother who they never met. With few economic resources their grandma does her best to feed four mouths. Dicey tries her best to fit in society. Even though she doesn't get along with people she doesn't care. She has more important things to think about with is caring for her family. Dicey helps her brother and sisters with any problems they have. Dicey's little sister, Maybeth has a problem. She has difficulty in reading which tuggs her behind in class. Her teacher notices and wants to place her in a different class.Dicey belives that Maybeth is a gifted child becuase she know how to play the piano instead of reading.Grama decides to place Maybeth in piano lesson but doesn;t have to money. Dicey helps with the proble. Her brother and her get jobs to pay half of the lessons. Cynthia Voigt makes Dicey seem older but infact she's only 13.I like how brave Dicey is. Cynthia describes Dicey as the one incharge of the family. There are two qualities I would like from Dicey and those are braveness and strenght.
