Rating: Summary: Even better than "The Homecoming" Review: While I love "The Homecoming," I think "Dicey'sSong" is even better than that first novel. Having read"The Runner" before I read "The Homecoming," I came to "Dicey's Song" knowing all about Bullet and Dicey's grandmother. I understood how important it was for Dicey and her siblings to make contact with their grandmother, who had cut off all contact with the world years before. For me, Dicey really finds her home in this novel, rather than in "The Homecoming," because it's in this novel that she makes herself at home with her grandmother and her siblings. In short, a charming, touching read.
Rating: Summary: A Moving Read Review: This is the kind of book that you aretempted to finsih in one afternoon. Dealing with Dicey trying to settle down in her new life, it shows how she has to deal with all of the problems her new chance is spawning. Her siblings, school life and Grandmother swing up and down, and Dicey tries to grasp onto what she has left into her swiftly tilting world.
Rating: Summary: A Challenging, Life-Like Book Review: Dicey's Song is a challenging book about a thirteen year old who is trying to get her life and family back together , after their mother father abandoned them. Soon after their mother left them Dicey and her two younger brothers and sister went to live with the grandmother that they never even knew they had. I like this book because it talks about things that really happen in life. The way the author explains the problems and how she gives the character so much personality to the characters themselves. Dicey's Song is a real-life like book. This book reminds me of my friend, because my friend went to live with her grandmother just like Dicey and her brothers and sister. I would definntely recommend this book to a friend. It is a very challenging book about a persons life. When I was reading it I felt like I was Dicey. Someone who is willing to read a challenging book should buy this book right away!
Rating: Summary: Dicey's Song Review: The book I read was Dicey's song by Cynthia Voigt. This book is the sequel to Homecoming, also by Cynthia Voigt. The kids, Dicey, Sammy, Maybeth, and James are at their grandmother's house in Crisfield, Maryland. They are having problems with Maybeth and the little kids. James seems to be doing alright. This family seems to be able to work out a problem whenever one occurs. It is sort of like a biography of this fictional family. The book is not really a suspense book, but the suspense is off and on. It has soul and heart and that is one of the reasons why I liked it. This is a great book but you will only understand it if you have read Homecoming. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: "Dicey's Song" Review: The book Dicey's Song is very well written. The reason i feel it is well written is that when Cynthia Voigt describes something i feel like i am right there along side of the charecters. In my English class we read Homecoming and that inspired me to read the next book in the Tillerman Family Series. The Tillermans have found a place they reallly enjoy with their new found Grandmother. In the end of homecoming Dicey asks Gram if she can keep the sail boat that is in the shed. If you have ever read the book Homecoming, you will like the book Dicey's Song. This book have very funnie parts and some very sad ones. So if you like realistic fiction this is the book for you.
Rating: Summary: More of the Tillerman family! Review: I read Dicey's Song by Cythia Voigt and I really liked it. The book Homecoming is the companion to Dicey's Song. I had read that, and I couldn't wait to read this one next. Dicey's Song talks about what happens to Tillerman's after they get to their Grandma's. Dicey is now 13 and doesn't like school, and she is having a hard time with not always doing things for her siblings. It talks about how things are different now between her siblings and her. It talks about them not needing her as much anymore. You also find out more about Dicey's mother and the relationship Dicey's mother and grandmother had. I thought the story was very suspenseful. It was hard to put down because you wanted to find out what was going to happen next to Dicey. The characters are another reason I gave the book this rating. They are great. Cythia Voigt does a great job of giving you a glimpse into the characters thoughts. My favorite character isn't Dicey though, it's her little brother Sammy. He is a goofball and the things he does crack me up. My third reason for this rating is that I liked how you got to find out what happened to the Tillerman's after they moved in with their grandma, but the story still had a plot. Some sequels can be pretty dull, but this one wasn't at all.
Rating: Summary: It's a Winner! Review: After I read the first book, I absolutely had to read this one. It was great to see how the Tillerman's got along at their grandmothers and to finally find out more about their parents. This book was just as well written as the first one; it was excellent.
Rating: Summary: From the Homecoming to Dicey's Song Review: I am an 8th grader in Cleveland,OH and in my 8th grade reading class, we had to read the Homecoming. It was a great book and kept me on the edge of my seat. That lead me to reading the sequel, Dicey's Song. I thing that it is an excellent book and that everyone one will enjoy it.
Rating: Summary: Dicey's Song Review: I truely enjoyed this book from beginning to end. You feel as if you are also apart of the Tillerman family, you seem to know them so well. this is only the second book from Cynthia Voigt I have read but she is now one of my favorite authors. This book is magical and inspiring. You won't be able to put it down!
