Summary: The conquered mountain.
Review: I thought Banner In the Sky was kind of good and kind of bad. It was kind of slow in the beginning but it gets better towards the end. It's about a 16 year old boy named Rudi who wants to climb the mountain his father died on. I think it's nice that his friends Winter and Franz put up his banner. I recommend you read this book.

Summary: The best adventure.
Review: There is a boy named Rudi. He really wants to climb the Citadel. I liked it because he did it for his father. The Citadel is in Switzerland. The ending was fabulous because Rudi had so much courage. Rudi could have climbed the Citadel but instead made another decision and sacrifice. I admire him for that. l

Summary: A really wonderful book!
Review: This was a really great book. I think it was one of the best and amazing books I have ever read. I like to read books about about people that have special dreamms. Rudi's dream was to conquer the Citadel and follow in his father's footsteps, only even farther.I think it's neat how Captain Winter lets Rudi climb the Citadel with him and Emil Saxo. I'd give you more details about the book but I want the rest to be a suprise!. I really enjoyed this book and I'm sure if you read it you really enjoy it too!.

Summary: An Easy, Fast, Fun read
Review: This book is one that I really enjoyed reading. It was a fast, fun read. The end of every chapter consists of some "on the edge" situation that keeps the reader wanting to hurry and continue on to the next chapter. The ending was surprising to me, and I never saw it coming. The entire book is very suspensful because it is based on real life. The author himself was a part of the very first American team to climb Mt. Everest, so he obviously drew from his personal experiences to write the story. I absolutely recommend this book. There is a movie that was made in 1959 about the book, but it's under a different name, "The Third Man on the Mountain." I have not been able to locate the movie yet, but I'm sure it's just as good as the book!

Summary: Sickest Book Ever!
Review: I (Will or WillTom) read this book in 6th grade and have dreamed about it ever since. It created my love of hiking. It made me come closer to crying than any other book. The intense emotion the author portrays draws the reader right into the story. A must read. Mike likes this book a lot, too.

Summary: Long overdue re-read of an excellent book
Review: When in 5th grade this was the first "real" book that I had read. The vivid image's of Rudi's climb have remained in my mind ever since. Now, some thirty years later, I have found this book again (thank you Amazon). This time I read it aloud to my 8 year old son. He enjoyed this story so much that he often urged me to keep reading way past bedtime. Of course I complied. I was just as riveted to the story as he was.

Young or old should read this book and take heart in Rudi's message to follow your dreams.

Summary: A lifelong favorite.
Review: This is one of two books which I read until they literally fell apart. High praise indeed. James Ramsey Ullman, through Rudi Matt taught me what guts, dedication and loyalty were all about.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: An awesome mountain thriller!
Review: This book was awesome because it was an account of the first ascent of a mountain told from the view point of a boy who wants badly to climb this mountain. His love for the mountains is so great that he sneaks out of his cottage to be the first to climb the mountain of all mountains. In his quest, he runs into a rival climber and winds up saving him. Is he the first climber to reach the summit of The Citadel? You tell me.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent book for any age
Review: I read this book several years ago as a school assignment, thinking I would be bored out of my mind with this book. Quite the contrary, I was amazed by the reality of this story. James Ullman does an excellent job, making the reader feel like he's in the story himself. I still get remniscient thoughts of this novel every once in awhile, and I'm thinking of buying this book for myself and reading it again.
