Summary: Journey to the River Sea Review
Review: 'Let's think of a way to get her out,' said Beatrice Carter to Gwendolyn Carter, her twin sister.
Beatrice and her sister were busily working out a way to get Maia out of their house. Maia was their mom's brother's child. She was rich, but that does not mean that she was happy. Her parents had sadly died many years ago when they were exploring Egypt. Although she loved the orphanage she was living at, she wasn't truly happy.
When she heard the news that she was going to move to the Amazon River in Brazil with the Carters, she couldn't have been happier, but when she met them, she realized that she should have stayed at her orphanage. There, she had so many friends, and here she had no one, until she met Finn and Clovis. Clovis was a child actor and Finn was a wanted man in England. Finn had never done a crime, but he was the heir of Westwood, a huge building in England.
Like Maia, both Clovis' and Finn's parents have died, which gives all three of them a special bond. Their bond is so special that not only do Clovis and Finn like Maia, they really like her. But don't worry, this book is not romantic. This topic only gets brought up one quick time.
This book is not romantic, but it is about friendship. The message, which is that without friendship you have nothing, is my favorite part of the book. Journey to the River Sea really made me want to do nice things like Maia.
Ibbotson is known to write fantasy, and that is what I think she should stick with. Although Journey to the River Sea is okay, it is not one of Ibbotson's bests.
If you like exciting and action-packed books, I would not recommend this book to you. But, if you like Brazil, I do recommend this book to you.

Summary: "There aren't any crocodiles in the Amozon!"
Review: Before I read, Journey to the River Sea, I thought it would be another book where the nanny is mean and the kid needs to learn to be strong. But, this book was different. Ms. Minton was discribed as a very mean nanny, but once you get to know her she's really very nice. (But you've also got to be good!) I also saw that Maia was very nice and, my opinion, sort of bookish. The thing is, that I don't really think that Maia thinks she needs to be strong against the twins. I think when I read Journey to the River Sea, I got to love the charecters very much.

Summary: an amazing adventure
Review: Eva Ibbotson writes 'Journey to the River Sea'.
It is a heart-warming tale of an orphan girl from London named Maia, on a quest to find her long lost family in Brazil. She travels to the rainforests and rivers of the Amazon on a wonderful adventure. Meeting new people and experiencing new things.
When she finally arrives at her destination after a long and tiring boat crossing. She is taken a back by the sheer beauty of her new home. She can't wait to start exploring. But as she discovers life with her new family is not what she had anticipated. The carters are Maia's aunt and uncle and cousins who are very strict and cruel. They hate Brazil and everything about it. They don't let any one outside and they don't even eat Brazilian food. They get all their food imported form England. Tins and dried foods. Maia is longing just to go the local market and buy fresh food.
The book is really fantastic and is much better than I had expected. It is full of life and character and I was hard to put it down.
Will Maia and her new friend decide to go back to England or stay in Brazil? You will have to read and find out.!
The book has lots of exciting twists and turns and is full of adventure and exploration. I thoroughly recommend this book!

Summary: A funfilled andventure to the river sea
Review: I have to say, Journey to the river sea was the best book I've ever read in my live. Maia, the heroine of the story, has gone with her new governess, Miss Minton to the amazon because there, her only relations are living. Because when she was little, her parents tragicly died.
In the amazon, they meet an actor, an heir to a great estate and put their lives in danger to help their frinds.
This is a brilliant story of friendship, love and loss.

Review: I loved this book. I thought it was great. It's about a girl, Maia, who finds out she has to live with her relatives in Brazil since she's an orphan. Maia thinks about living in a grass hut and eating exotic foods, but it turns out her relatives are just trying to re-create England! Eva Ibbotson is so good at writing it that you start to feel sorry for her! Then, she meets an "Indian" and gets involved in a complicated mystery with him. If you like Brazil and mysteries, this is the perfect book for you!

Summary: Wonderful!
Review: I'm almost done with this book, and I am really enjoying it. I have read all of Eva Ibbotsons books expect Dial-A-Ghost, which I plan to read soon. Because it doesn't have magic, like the others, I was a little disaponited. But it's a wonderful adventure story and I highly reccomend it.

Summary: A delicious adventure
Review: Ibbotson has created a charming heroine in Maia, and has beautifully captured the lush setting of the Amazon. Although some events in the book are far-fetched, the story is still a terrific and engaging adventure, brimming with lively characters and interesting situations. I highly recommend it.
