Rating: Summary: 2 teens who run away from home. Review: This book was really great. It gave me another perspective on life and how life is on the street. It made me decide not to run away for at least awile, till know what i am doing. It explained that running away isn't as easy as it seems and that drugs seem to take you over once you start them.
Rating: Summary: A GREAT summer read! Review: I bought this book last summer and thought it was great! It was so good that when I was at the beach it kept me out of the water for two hours....by that time I had finished what I started the day before! I've alreadly passed it on to my best friend. It was an awesome book that you HAFTA read!

The author does such a great job of telling the character's stories. It is completely real and genuine. It gives you a whole new perspective on the lives of teens such as Tar. It is gripping and emotional story.

Rating: Summary: A great novel to show what drugs and love can do to you. Review: I thought this book was excellent. It is told in the perspective of eight different people. The book leaves you with a feeling of happieness and saddenss. It is about two teenagers, Tar and Gemma, who run away. They end up making friends and getting into drugs. Gemma is the real rebelous one, but Tar follows along. It ends up that Gemma starts to get her life together, but Tar is still not able to handle himself. Tar also comes from an abusive family. It is really neat because you can see it from the points of their friends or even aquaintances. Don't miss out on this book.
Rating: Summary: This book brouhgt me to realize how people feel about SMACK. Review: I believe that SMACK was a compelling novel. Melvin Burgess wrote the view of the "Squatter" in a manner that brought attention to me on the way these types of people think, act and do. This story also made me think about the life I could posses if trying smack. And definantly turned me against it. "Smack" was a novel that was definantly eye-opening and sincere. During the novel (it was so 'similar' to real-life) and Melvin Burgess told the story with such compassion I had to wonder if he wrote from real-life expeierence. I would reccomend this book for anybody who wants to understand the life of a person that has expeierenced a lot of 'understanding' at a young age.
Rating: Summary: "Smack" by Melvin Burgess is an outstanding book. Review: Read this book! "Smack" is a great book. It gives all of the characters points of views and could certainly make a teen think twice before abusing drugs and/or alcohol. I am a fourteen year old myself and after reading Smack I am pretty scared. Melvin Burgess has a great way of expressing his likes and dislikes. I think everyone should read this book.
Rating: Summary: A truly amazing realization of heroin and running away Review: Smack is book that many teen agers can relate to. The realization of what somebody will do to escape their problems. Wheather it be hash, heroin, running away, alochoal, or all of the above, and what people are driven to do as an addict.
Rating: Summary: @@ Perfect Score @@ Review: Wonderfully written in the first person
