Rating: Summary: Absolutly amazing... Review: The only reason I picked up the book is because my friend recommended it to me. And I'm so glad I did, this book gives you good, hard look at reality. I too, am 14 years old, and I was totally feeling with Tar and Gemma. At first it seemed to start off really slowly, but man, after the first few chapters, I just couldn't put it down. Everybody's gotta read it.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic, couldn't put it down Review: I really, really loved this book! I bought it after someone recommended it to me. It only took me a few days to read it because i couldn't put it down! The story is realistic, and being Gemma's age I can relate to her attitude. I say that you haven't read this book yet, read it now. You won't regret it, bound to be a classic in many years to come......
Rating: Summary: Couldn't stop Review: I'm fourteen, since I didn't have anything to do during the weekend I picked up this on a friend's recommendation. I read it in eight hours. It's a great book. The horn-book is right, Gemma does first come off as a spoiled brat, but ya know what? Most kids come off as spoiled brats! It's easy! I disagree with most of the Horn Book reviews though. Anyway, I recommend this book to anyone! READ IT!
Rating: Summary: The best book I ever read it was so hard to put it down. Review: Im also 14 yrs old. i think this book was awesome mostly because it shows what happens to you if your on drugs from a teens viewpoint. i also think that more kids should read the book the way the author writes it makes it sound so believeable like your actually there and want to help. everything worked perfectly together in harmony and it was a blast to read. the only bad thing is when your done, you just want it to keep going on. i definately recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: The last few chapters were laborious! Review: It gave an interesting account of life on the streets, and the horrors of addiction. It made me want to smack (no pun intended) some of the characters for being so stubborn and not having any drive toward self-preservation. Teens should read this as long as they don't see it as a disguised message from adults. The last few chapters presented a lengthy resolution that was tiring to read following all of the action of the remainder of the book.
Rating: Summary: A Masterpiece..... Review: If there is any one book in the world that can make you fall in love, and then apart....this is it. SMACK took me places I never thought possible, it made me desire a life unknown before, then it showed the horrors of that life, and made me feel safe and snuggly in my bed. The demons in that book will never lie....but they will be overcome...yes, they will be overcome.
Rating: Summary: Hooking as the drug itself. Review: An honest look into the life of a few addicts with the young love that made even my heart break when all went pear-shaped. This book is a perfect look into a world different from my own. And even a little glossary at the end of the book for little ol' American me. a wonder.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN Review: Smack is one of the most amazing books I have ever written. My only complaint is that someone hadn't written this book sooner. Even though I have never been a heroing addict, Burgess made the characters relatable and interesting. He knew what he was talking about no matter which character he portraying. Also I found it interseting the way he had different chapters with different points of view. This kept me interested in what he had to say and I really liked that there was really no protagonist. I would deffinately reccomend this to anyone who ever wants to runaway from home and do drugs.
Rating: Summary: Captivating Page Turner Review: This book has got to be one of my favorite books. I read it within a week! It reels you in and makes you want to go on and read for hours without stopping. With each character's own chapters, the author lets you see their point of view. It helps you look in from different perspectives, not just one. As a teenager myself, it made me realize how easy it is to be lured into a bad crowd and how easy it is to get addicted to toxins. There are so many morals to this story also. The major being DON'T TAKE DRUGS and the one that every adult wants you to know: DON'T DISREGARD YOUR PARENTS. A definite must read!!!
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: I bought SMACK, and at first I was a little doubtful, but after reading the first two pages, I couldn't put it down! It was just so great! You really get in to the book and characters. Everything they have to go through, it feels like you're right there suffering with them. I recomend this book to everyone, even though I am reluctant to pass on books with such difficult themes.
