Rating: Summary: What A Fun Book!!! Review: It was only after I bought this book that I realized it was the 5th in a series, following Shadowland, Ninth Key,Reunion, and Darkest Hour. Even though I didn't read the other books, Haunted:A Tale of the Mediator was able to stand on it's own merit. I can just imagine how much more I would have enjoyed this book if I was a young adult. Suzannah Simon is a mediator,a correspondence between the dead and the living. Two other people at her school share this ability. One scene that stuck out for me was, in the class elections, her theme was Simon Says Vote For Suzzanah! If you want to know any more, you'll have to read the book. This was my very first Meg Cabot Book, but I assure you it won't be my last. I wish I would have read the other books in the series, written under Meg Cabot's pseudonym, Jenny Carroll, but now I'll have something to look forward to:)
Rating: Summary: OK Review: I bought this book thinking that it would be really great, since all the princess diaries books that Meg Cabot wrote were interesting. But she just didn't do a good job on this one. It was one out of about five other books about Mediators (I have no clue what that stupid made up word that really means) so it kind of left you lost. It didn't grab your attention, it just made you want to go to sleep! The plot was boring and you couldn't relate to it. Meg Cabot should stick with the Princess Diaries books.
Rating: Summary: Missing a certain something Review: 4 1/2 stars, not just 4 I really, really love most of Meg Cabot's other books. And I love the rest of the Mediator series to death, but honestly, this book seemed different from the rest in the series. Suze is a great charactor and I love the way Cabot writes the way she is; spunky, tough and a little over the top. But in "Haunted", I found that she started to bug me a little. Obsessing and obsessing over Jesse (who I also like). Paul Slater, from a recent book in the series, moves into Suze's hometown of Carmel and wants (a little too much) to teach Suze all about the Mediator business. All of this leads up to a fight and a kiss. I felt as if nothing changed for Suze and the end of the book was pretty much like the beginning. Read the rest of the series though. This book is worth reading, but not a winner. ~Atalanta
Rating: Summary: Lots of fun to read Review: In this book (which is partially a story and partially a bitter diatribe against a pair of Jimmy Chu mules) Susannah Simon gets the suprise of her life. Not only is she a mediator (a person who can comunicate with ghosts) but she is also having to attend high school with Paul Slater. Paul is also a boy who once tried to kill both her and her sort of boyfriend, Jesse, who also happens to be a ghost. Strangely, Paul denies ever trying to kill her. Suze decides to conceal Paul's attendance at her high school from Jesse. She also finds herself listening to him. Paul is a mediator, like Suze, but he is also something different. Something powerful. He calls himself a shifter and informs Suze that she is one too. He offers to teach her what he knows. As much as Suze doesn't trust Paul, she becomes too curious to turn him down and agrees to visit his house. She ends up running out of the house after a quick but accidental (she's sure) game of tonsil hockey. On top of all that, Jesse has been acting distant lately, her stepbrother Brad is hosting a huge school party at their house while Suze's mom and stepdad are gone, there is a ghost trying to harm a college friend of Jake's, and, darn it, her feet are so covered in blisters because of an evil pair of mules that she can barely walk! I really enjoyed this book. The showdown at the end was so cool that I reread it a couple times. I love her friends Adam and CeeCee. And -confession time- I kinda like Paul. Don't get me wrong, Jesse is way cooler. But lets face it, he's a ghost. Not exactly the kind of guy a girl can really get serious with. Even if she is a mediator/shifter.
Rating: Summary: good, but with one problem Review: Ok I love Meg Cabot and the whole Mediator series. I've been reading them for a long time and I always look forward to the next book. Now I only gave this book four stars dont get me wrong I loved it, but theres this one thing that always gets on my nerves. That is the fact that the main character is obessed with a DEAD person. I mean really all through the book and all the other books. Its like GET A LIFE!!! She has this cute guy who has the same gift as her and is all over her, but she wont get over A DEAD GUY!!! ugh...i hate it!! Now if a person doesn't mind that factor they should totally read the book, because otherwise everything is great. The plot is good and everything else. So give it a try, but read the other books in the series first, becausse otherwise you are going to be lost. Well thats all hope you enjoy the book!! :)
Rating: Summary: A Really Cool Book Review: This book is so cool .I mean how cool would it be to be able to see ghosts .I took me 4 1/2 Hours to read this book because it was that intersting .
Rating: Summary: AL's Haunted review for English class Review: Haunted, by Meg Cabot is a story about Susannah Simon, who is "a mediator- a liaison between the living and the dead." This means that she can see and talk to the ghosts of people who have died with some unfinished business on Earth. Her job is to help them figure out what's keeping them on Earth, and get them on their way to their final destination. Suze is a junior at Junipero Sera Mission Academy in Carmel, CA. She lives in an antique house, and has her own personal ghost haunting her room. She doesnt mind, though, because he is the ghost of a very handsome young man named Jesse who was murdered in that house in the mid-1800s. So naturally, Suze falls madly in love with him. They even share a very passionate kiss one day in her room (yes, it is possible to kiss a ghost), which makes her certain that Jesse returns her feelings. But after that one perfect moment, things start getting very awkward between them, which leaves Suze very confused. As if Suze didn't have enough troubles in her life, what with dealing with Jesse and other random lost spirits, she discovers that she will now be facing her worst nightmare every day at school. This nightmare is an extremely good-looking boy by the name of Paul Slater, a fellow mediator, who once tried to kill her and Jesse by exorcising them into the realm of the dead and stranding them there. Although Paul says that they would've been able to get out, Suze is still terrified of him. Now he claims that he knows of some amazing powers that he and Suze have as mediators that she never dreamed about. He says he would never hurt her, and that all he wants is to tell her about them. But Suze knows that he's just jealous of her feelings for Jesse, and is therefore trying to get closer to Jesse through her so he can finish him off. So now Suze has to decide if finding out more about her rare gift is worth risking the safety of the man she loves. She still has very strong feelings for Jesse, but is questioning whether he's worth her time, seeing as he seems more interested in reading Critical Theory Since Plato than spending time with her. And Paul obviously knows some really interesting stuff that she would like to know, but she's still not sure if he's totally trustworthy. After all, he did try to kill her. I don't want to totally give away the ending, but I will say that it was really good. There were some questions left slightly unanswered, but that's part of what made it so good. It kept you thinking even after you finished the book. Overall, I thought this book was really good. It was pretty suspenseful at some points, and had some pretty unexpected events. I wouldn't call it my very favorite book, but definitely one of the better books I've read. I also really like Cabot's writing style. The way she writes makes it sound like she's really a modern teenager dealing with modern teenage issues. This style is also evident in one of her other books, The Princess Diaries. I would, and already have, recommend this book to any of my friends.
Rating: Summary: Hmm.. Review: I thought this would be as good as the rest of Cabot's books, and, I thogut, had a storng enough plotline to be. However, hte constant references to her Gucci shoes, and makeup, and perfect hair were a bit over the top, and took away from her writing, leaving the main character shallow and thin. Other than this, the book was very good, and all the other character sseemed lively enough.
Rating: Summary: Another Wonderful Book Review: I am a fan of all of Meg Cabot's teen stories. I started reading the first princess diaries book and while waiting for the second book I ordered books 1-4 and finished them in under four days. I immediatley had my mom preorder this book for me and I was not diappointed. I then let my friends borrow the books and they just passed it around between them and one day we had a discusion on it, we all agreed that the love plot between Jesse and Suze was just adorable and realistic for being told by a kid our age. My best friend and I are eagerly waiting in line for book six.
Rating: Summary: Haunted by Meg Cabot Review: Seeing the dead would freak most people out, but for Susannah Simon, that's life. That's because she's a Mediator. Haunted(A Tale of the Mediator) by Meg Cabot is an extravagant book that keeps you on your toes. Meg Cabot's style in Haunted is phenomenal, you'll want to read it over and over again, because its great from beginning to end. Suze, a 16 year old, lives in sunny Carmel, CA. Where she helps ghosts go onto their next life or wherever they go next. Along the way she meets a ghost, named Jesse, whom lives in her bedroom. An old killer returns to Carmel and is there to stay. Paul Slater is a 17 year old Mediator just like Suze. He is different though, because Paul is a shifter. A shifter is a mediator who can shift between the world of living and dead. Paul want's Suze to become a shifter. Suze doesn't want to though. Will she choose to stay a Mediator or become a shifter? Haunted is the 5th book of the Mediator series. Shadow Land, Ninth Key, Reunion, and Darkest Hour are the other books in the series. Also, Meg Cabot is writhing a 6th Mediator book . Meg Cabot also wrote The Princess Diaries, but The Mediator is most like her 1-800-WHERE-R-U series, because they have more suspense in them. Even the first eight words of the book will send chills down your spine. "Well, well, well, if it isn't Susannah Simon..." All of Meg Cabot's other Mediator books are under the name Jenny Carroll. This series is a lot like the 1-800-WHERE-R-U series. They both have realistic settings and characters. All in all, this Young Adult suspense story will keep you on the edge of your seat. The tale is a must-have to add to your book shelf.(Ages 12+)
