Summary: Can't-put-it-down science fiction!
Review: I finished this book in about a week, and I could not put it down! Garth Nix is a great writer. You become connected to the characters while engrossed in the action-packed story line. Follow Ella, Ninde, Drum, and Goldeye as they race against time to defeat the Overlords, and regain control of their world.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: A fine peice of literature
Review: Although I did enjoy the book, it wasn't as captivating as previous works of his (Sabriel). I did like the plot and the overall framework of the book, especially how realism was worked into fantasy. The people, the characters were so real, so vivid, so life like, by the end of the book I felt as if I knew them. And I almost did.

Summary: Finally, a Scientific, Realistic Fiction book with drama!
Review: This was an increadibly fast page turner, with many unexpected events, actions, and reactions. It often travelled the path I least suspected, but no matter how much I regretted reading some incidents, I said the hell with it, because this was an increadible book. Gold-Eye, finding Ninde as a lover, was a good choice by Garth nix, and the heros (Ella and Drum) where also satifying characters. My feelings for Shade changed through out the book, when sometimes i wanted him dead, and others, I Enjoyed his choices and presence. There was a few un answered guestions though, and I would love to see a sequel, or maybe a prequel. Those who wish to share their knowlege of the book, e-mail me.

Summary: Nix writes a classic sci-fi action/adventure story!!
Review: When I checked out this book, I didn't have very high expectations for it, I figured, "Oh, heck, why not. I'll read it for the fun of it, even though it probably won't be THAT great." WRONG! Completely wrong!!

This book is impossible to put down! The action zooms along at a rapid speed, the detail is just enough to keep you involved (not to give you a headache like other books do), and the characters each have their own unique personalities.

All in all, this is a science fiction work that should go down as a classic in literature! I strongly recommend it!!

Summary: Finally, a good adventure story!!!

Summary: This was a creatively written page turner! I adored it!
Review: This book surpasses numerous texts by far! It has a certain writing style that captivates the reader, and addresses a very interesting topic, the future. The author really had an understanding of what was going on throughout the story, and passed that on to us. Read it, you'll love it!

Summary: THIS BOOK WAS GREAT!!!
Review: I wasn't sure I would like this book at first... but boy was I wrong! I didn't read this book by choice, I had to read it for a teen book discussion group at the lbrary. From the first chapter on, I couldn't put it down! I started the book on September 7 and I had read the whole thing TWICE by September 9. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story with lots of plot twists and action.

Summary: A fast-paced, darkly original dystopian adventure
Review: Garth Nix follows up his wonderful fantasy "Sabriel" with an equally good science fiction adventure. His uncompromising vision of a horrifying future where a nineteen-year-old girl may be the oldest human alive is played out in a compulsively readable, intelligent, and finally poignant novel.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: THIS IS A REALLY GOOD BOOK!
Review: This book is rather odd, unlike most other books I have read. It's futeristic setting is really interesting. Sabriel is not as good as Shade's Children, this book gets into the story much faster.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Sci-fi for Sci-fi Haters
Review: This book kept me positively glued until the very last page, at which time tears trickled down my face. Shade's Children has distinctive elements of an un-cliched science fiction with suble undertones of fantasy in the "talents" that the heros and heroines posess. The concept of a world so horrific will make you sit and stare off into space, merely lost in thought for several minutes, pondering the future. You'll laugh, cry, and be incapable of motion when reading Shade's Children.
