Summary: I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!
Review: Shade's Children was an awesome book! I read Garth Nix's Sabriel and decided to go read some of his other books. I didn't expect it to be so good! Garth Nix is amazing! I garuntee you that if you like fantasy/science fiction and you like a book with an exciting story line, then you will like, if not LOVE, this book!!!

Summary: I only wish Garth Nix would write faster!!
Review: Shade's Children is a rare book: lots of excitement, romance, great characters, etc., but even better, there's a really interesting idea with lots of deeper meanings to think about and moral decisions, like in Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy. "Sabriel" and "Shade's Children" are both wonderful books if you like young adult fantasy/scifi that is slightly more dark and serious than normal. I do, and now I really can't wait for Garth Nix's next book! I've got to get a copy of The Ragwitch. However, the cover art by Leo and Diane Dillon on the hardcover, although it's nice-looking, doesn't really fit with the story: all the children look about 9 or 10, but they are supposed to be 15 and up. And the Creatures look nothing like I'd imagined them. I do like their art though; look at the covers of Sabriel and Wise Child. If you liked Tomorrow, When The War Began, Galax-Arena, or Ender's Game, you will probably like Shade's Children. There are things about SC that remind me of all these books. Shade's Children is VERY highly recommended for ages 14 up. Just don't expect it to be another Sabriel; Shade's Children is just as good (if not better) in its own, very different way, and if you want it to be just like Sabriel you won't appreciate it and you'll really miss out.

Review: This was a Great book! it was a page turner, and i couldnt put it down. I am 14 years old. I have reread this book 3 times, and every time it gets better. This book has some sexaul stuff in it, and love interests. It is great how Nix includes romance in a horror/sci-fi novel. This is very good for readers probably 12 and up. Adults will like it to, my dad read it and loved it! thanks lotsalove jenn

Summary: Pretty good, but not to compare with......
Review: This book is actually very well written. It is fast paced and interesting. It really gives the feeling of solitude, but I would much prefer a book by Ray Bradbury or Issac Asimov.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: fast-paced thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat
Review: Garth Nix's "Shades Children" is truly a masterpiece. 400 pages of pure intensity! A fast-paced thriller/drama in the most electrifying situations. Anyone would rate "Shade's Children" five and a half stars if they could. If you haven't read this novel then run to your nearest bookstore or even order it over the net. A step up from all Sci-Fi adventures.

Summary: Horrible!
Review: It is a pointless book that did not make very much sense set in an inbelieveable, underdeveloped world. The plot did not really tell you about why certain things happen, all the characters did was run from place to place.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Shade's Children is a must-read for sci-fi fans of all ages.
Review: Garth Nix is the most exciting, inventive, and imaginative sci-fi writer I've read in years. In Shade's Children, Nix creates a world that is easy to fall into, where suspension of disbelief is completely unnecessary. The twists and turns throughout the book make for a read that is never boring or predictable. In addition, the characters are so richly illustrated that they fairly jump from the page. From page one on, Gold-Eye, Ninde, Ella, and Drum are alive. Even though this book is classified as young adult, I would recommend it to sci-fi readers of all ages.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I think the setting Nix used was very creative.
Review: The story was the "other side" of RIVER WORLD. In river world all humans that ever existed OVER the age of 14 went to RIVER WORLD. The ending is sad, but it had to happen. The thought of children's brains, musles, and other parts being used in creatures that kill each other in wars. And all the wars are a game, an anual game in which an overlord who wins the most battles gets his/her name on a trophey. I think my favortie character was Drum. i felt great pity for his "history". READ THIS BOOK! you'll love it unless you rather read SLEEPING BEAUTY. (which i hope not)
