Rating: Summary: Timeless Review: Why everyone is up in arms about this book I'll never know. All Judy Blume is doing is telling the truth. The truth about one's first love, the truth about one's "first time", and the truth about heartbreak. If you can't handle the truth, then don't read the book, but don't deny others the privilege. Kath and Michael's romance is something I can completely relate to. The naive notion that this could last forever (maybe it could, I'm no pessimist) but the bitter truth that almost nothing lasts forever. If you have ever experienced a broken heart or are wondering about when and if your "first time" will come about, read "Forever." It can really open your eyes to the TRUTH.
Rating: Summary: Best Book I've Ever Read-very romantic!!!! Review: i couldnt put this book down(missed sleep a couple nights, its one of those books where you have to know whats going to happen next.i ended up reading it 2 times and at the end each time ended up crying, the book is verry romantic and really makes you feel like your inside it.judy blume did a terrific job with this book.i wish it would have ended a little diffrent(a more happy one)but i highly recommend this book for anyone who loves romance, its a type of romance thats really really rare and not many see but only hear about.you wont regret reading it,we sell alot of our old books thats been read but this one we have to keep!!!!
Rating: Summary: This has endured for a reason... Review: ...that being that it is still as topical now as it was when I read it more than 20 years ago. It is not a "how to" manual for sex, but rather illustrates the disappointment that can come from giving yourself sexually to someone who doesn't deserve you. That's what I took from it all those years ago, and *this book* was one of many factors that encouraged me NOT to have sex as a teenager.
To the reviewer who said "I can tell you that many young women I knew became sexually active at a very young age, due in large part to this book. It made sex seem 'hip' and 'cool'. The saddest part of all is what this book says about our culture..." If you think a book is what makes teenagers have sex, you need a lesson on hormones. This book makes sex seem special, and not something that you want to do with just anybody. And what is says about our culture is that teens are naturally curious about sex, and if their parents instill in them some self-esteem and self-respect, they won't want to just give their bodies away to someone who doesn't appreciate them. Don't blame a book because people are poor parents.
Rating: Summary: Ahh...memories! Review: I read this book while in the 6th grade. Three of my friends and I passed this book around like it was some secret instruction manual. In all reality, if not for this book, many of us would have never known what "it" was, because we were too afraid to ask our parents and they sure as heck weren't offering any information! Those who think that Judy Blume is responsible for the downfall of morality in our society need to pull their heads out of the sand. She did not create the problem. When we are shown the repercussions of careless sex, maybe we can prevent them. I knew by age 11 where babies came from thanks to this book. Some of my peers were not so lucky, one being the 15 year-old daughter of a preacher...she read the book after the birth of her first child. It was came too late for her, sadly.
Rating: Summary: Go Judy! Review: Something that I love about Judy Blume's books, is that they are honest and straight forward. She doensn't hide the fact that girls menustrate, that guys mastrabate (sp?), or that teenager's sometimes heve sex. I hate it when authors aren't honest with us. And I hate that people try to ban these books from us. So many people seem to think that if we don't know about it, then it won't happen. Us teens can't help going through puberty, so let us learn all that we can about growing up so that we can be better people because of it.
