Rating: Summary: I wish I had read it as a teenager. Review: I'm 28 years old and I just read this book for the first time. At first, I didn't realize this was for teenagers and because of some of the language, I'm not surprised to learn that some fanatical people fight to ban it. I only gave it 4 stars because I'm too old to learn from it's message and at times it bored me. But that's the whole point!!! This book is for adolescent women and they should be allowed to read it. This will make them think!
Rating: Summary: UNIVERSAL NOVEL--GET MUCH PROPS!! Review: Indeed, indeed--this novel was intense even for me and I am not a teenager. I read this book because I wanted to check it out before I gave it to my 12 year old niece. NOT!! too intense. The book was thought-provoking and touched many, many issues for young teenagers. I do think, however, the book should be for mature audiences. If I was a young teenager who hasn't experience sex, after reading this book, it would've tantalized me to experience it. Anyway, overall, it was well-written and it forced me to order more books by Judy. Good job.I would like to see her incorporate more stories or story-lines involving people of different cultures. Just a thought.
Rating: Summary: Realistic & honest Review: I didn't read this book until I was in college, when I started taking classes in library science and wondered what was so "bad" about this book that it was challenged so frequently. I still am not entirely sure why it is challenged, unless we're still trying to keep teenagers away from honest portrayals of sex and its potential negative aftereffects! This book was quite realistic in its depictions of what goes on in a relationship that's heading down the path to sex, and what happens afterwards. When Katherine meets Theo and finds herself liking him, her mixed and confused feelings are what many young women go through when they realize that "the one" isn't "the one" after all. It's a frightening feeling. Finally, I appreciated the initial sexual scenes because they were also fairly honest. Without getting graphic, let's just say that Katherine's lack of feeling is a lot more realistic than some of those scenes in other novels would have you believe. So, I guess the message I got was not to give it away too young, because "forever" really isn't what it seems. Is that really a message we want to ban?
Rating: Summary: One of Blume's Best Review: I read this book a long time ago, and it has still stick with me as one of the true, honest books out there dealing with teens, sex, and love. I can remember reading all of Blume's books as a child, and it has continued on with her adult novels. Trully, she knows what she is writing about. And there are a lot of writers out there who do not.
Rating: Summary: Forever is a Part of Me Review: I was 10 years old when I first read this book. In many ways, it was my first introduction to love. Now, almost 10 years later I fondly recall the feelings that this book awakened in me. Not jsut sexual, but a true fondness developed for the characters. I'll never forget this book, and sometime I shall dig up my old copy of it and read it again. Such a landmark is this book on my childhood, that I'm almost tempted to buy it again.
Rating: Summary: I'd Give It ********** If I could! Review: Forever can be summed up in one word...AMAZING. The writing, the story, all of it! If you are under 12 I strongly reccommend waiting to read this book. If you like a book that keeps you "on the edge of your seat" you'll love this! It's my favorite book, and if you like racy books it will be yours too.
Rating: Summary: I Quite Frankly enjoyed the book! Review: I thought that the book forever by Judy Blume was quite ravishing. I got into the book with the very first sentence. I thought that the very first sentence told what the whole book was going to be about. Love, teenagers, and sex. This book has the real teenage details. It told the real story of what the life of most teenagers have not all but some. The book was very sexy and romantic about young love. I reccomend only to mature people.
Rating: Summary: Realistic Review: I am a sixty year old father of two young daughters, and yes, I read Forever. The message I received from the book is, I wish I had waited for Theo. Katherine gave her body to Michael too soon, and now she can't give her virginity to Theo. Perhaps Blume is also saying that love is more than physical attraction, and is telling teenagers to hold off with their sexual desires and wait for one's life-long mate? I like the way Blume writes, and I do feel that young ladies and young men should read this book.
Rating: Summary: WOW!! Review: Some may say this book is outlandish and perverted...I ask them, do you watch TV? Of course! What's the difference? This book tells it as it is. Sex is a real life thing and does talking about or having sex make someone a bad person? NO! This book is interesting and true. A GREAT book for anyone who is mature enough to read it.
Rating: Summary: good but not the best Review: The book was good but it had its moments of being nasty they may have described a little too much of what goes on in the bedroom it was good they way that it all came together and i think it was good it is not something ur parents would want u too read but it explains what a high school girl goes through
