Summary: Annie on My Mind... quite litterally
Review: I read this book in four hours. I laughed, and I cried. I felt some longing to tell the characters that I knew what was happening... and that it was alright.

Beautifully written. I can not wait to go tell my friends to read it. The emotions, and feelings (always mixed, yet clear to those who know the situation) are perfectly worded. Annie on My Mind is now one of my favorites. I will cherrish it for a long time to come. I just wish I had something like this as a guide in my past.

Summary: Absolutely Stunning!
Review: Annie on My Mind has to be the best book i've ever read! I get emotional every single time I read it, and i've read it 3 times! i would get excited coming home to read it late at night or waking up really early in the morning to finish it. once i did finish, i began to miss the main characters and would start all over again, taking my time this time around. judging the extent of my admiration for this compelling love story and the author, i wrote Nancy Garden and she was so wonderful in her reply.

Summary: A heartfelt piece
Review: You can almost feel the confusion and love between the two main characters. Liza who is in love with Annie has problems dealing with it and I almost cried when she finally admitted how she (Liza) truly felt for Annie.

Summary: An Unforgettable Book
Review: Annie On My Mind by Nancy Garden is the story of a young girl named Liza who meets a fascinating girl named Annie at a museum one day. Immediately Liza finds herself mesmerized by Annie, her beautiful voice and imagination.

As the months go by, Annie and Liza become practically inseparable. They each meet one another's family and get a chance to see what each other's school and home life is like. Annie's home life and school life are much more difficult than Liza's; Annie's family is poor and she has to attend a rough school, whereas, Liza's family is comfortable and she goes to a nice private school. Despite their differences they come to appreciate and value one another deeply. Each of them sense something deeper but it takes awhile for it to surface.

This book very boldly takes a look at teen homosexuality, which isn't a topic everyone is comfortable with. Nevertheless, I think Garden handles the topic in a responsible manner and allows readers to experience teen sexuality from various perspectives. On the one hand we have Annie who has always been pretty sure that she is gay. On the other hand, we have Liza who has never considered homosexuality as an option for herself. Then, of course, there is Sally who find homosexuality reprehensible. The complexities raised in this book allow a controversial topic to be looked at in a way I think most people could discuss.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. This book was about two young girls who fall in love. But extremely hurts everyone around them. No one can face the actual truth. You'll find yourself wanting to have love like them, as it was for me. Then you'll find yourself crying of how mean peaople can actually be. I recommend this book to anyone who's bisexual, straight, gay, lesbian...anything. This book really teaches you to understand.

Summary: "I am the master of my fate..."
Review: This book has an engaging story but falls short of perfection because of a few flaws. The excessive foreshadowing is distracting from the plot, and the climax lacks that shock or jolt that usually comes from a well-thought-out and original YA novel. Aside from those things, it is a wonderful read for those interested in the subject matter or coming-of-age novels for young women in general. It is appropriately written for the age group it targets, and the characterization is laudable. I immediately found myself feeling sympathy for all of the main characters, save for the headmistress of the school and her puppet-like associate. I particularly enjoyed the literary references and the use of the poem "Invictus." Though it was written over ten years ago, it is still suitable for the present, and the hardships that Liza and Annie face are very similar to the ones they would face now. Above all, what probably makes this book so remarkable is the fact that nothing of its kind existed until it came along.

Summary: It's was ok...
Review: The book was pretty good over all, and it got interesting towards the end. I wouldn't read it over again, but i would recommend it to someone who is new to the gay and lesbian genre.

Summary: Amazingly True.
Review: Wow. I happened to stumble on this book, blindly. I read it once, then twice. I stayed up all night reading it over and over. It was so...true, the feelings Annie and Liza had for each other. I have how writers portray first love as something you're sure of, something that isn't scary. Something you'd have to define. This book does none of these things. Although the dialoge at times seems a little staged, it never falls to TV movie level, and the emotion behind it always shines through. This book made me cry, but in the best way possible.
I highly recommend this book to those who may be questioning thier sexuality. I wish I would have had this to read in junior high when I felt that no one in the world felt like I did.

Summary: Compelling story, but not in a soap oper-ish way
Review: "Annie on my Mind" was the first lesbian book I ever read, and it has apperently been a first book to many other teenagers out there. Every now and then, you need a book that can combine the two completly different realms of fiction and reality, and Nancy Garden's classic does so with brilliance. Even if your straight its a great book to read because it just touches on the basics of love, it doesn't matter who you are, or what gender....that's pretty much the theme to. Two people falling in love, and making it through the high and lows, and tribulations... a book for anyone who just wants to read a "Compelling Love Story".......

Summary: Outstanding book.
Review: I have read Annie on My Mind a total of three times. The characters become so real to you, that you can almost feel everything they are going through. This book dosen't start off with any preachy blatant homosexuality 'accept us' type morales. It starts off with a girl who may live next door, and a beautiful love story with her friend.
One of the most romantic books I have read, which does; in the end teach you to be more accepting of other people. I don't know if that was the aim of the author or, if Liza and Annie become so real to you, that it just happens. A great book, and one that I think you would enjoy immensely.
