Rating: Summary: Two young women find each other, and somehow survive. Review: A delightful, but not overly sweet, story of two high school women who find each other and fall in love. Their relationship is full of joy, pain and rewards. One of the
rare books on being young and gay that isn't condencending,
trite, tramatic or overly optimistic. I wish this book had been in my local library way back when.
Rating: Summary: ..what i thought.. Review: I LOVED.. this book.. it was the first les book I had ever read.. I couldn't put it down until i finished it, and immediately read it again.. I think the author really captured young lesbian love and how it feels at first.. I felt like I was right there with the characters.. I couldn't find anything not to like this book. I'd recommend it to any young adult either les, bi, or anyone trying to understand more about lesbian relationships..
Rating: Summary: A Must Read! Review: I sat down and read this book in about three hours and it was sheerly amazing. I can not find a bad word to say about it. It moved me, almost to the verge of tears. This is a must read for any one. Especially young lesbian and bisexual women. This was good literature, hands down.
Rating: Summary: Must read page turner Review: This book is a must read regardless of your sexual oreintation. I promise once you start reading ths book you wont want to put it down for any reason and no matter how many times you read it you'll still want to read it again. i must have checked this book out 6 or 7 times and every time i read it, it seems as though it was my first. Definetly it is one of the most beautiful love stories between two girls and is appropriate for most children over the age of 11. I encourage you to but this book or at least check it out at your local library
Rating: Summary: Yes, I remember it well. Review: Did you begin to experience your attraction to other females at an early age? Did you find those sexual vibrations, along with the verbal intimacy you experienced with female, irresistible? I did, I was there and "Annie on my Mind" brought me back to some of those incredible feelings of first love. It is a well-written and very believable story. We more need literature, such as this, which validates our own experience and which we can recommend to young women who are first learning about their sexual attractions to others of their own gender. Although this book is written for young women, I feel sure you will find it just as enjoyable as I did.
Rating: Summary: One of the best... Review: "Annie on my Mind" is one of the best young adult lesbian novels around. I loved the characters (especially the teachers), and was very impressed by the gradual pace the two main characters took towards intimacy. The actions of every character in the story were surprisingly human.
Rating: Summary: An Amazing Book and Nothing Less!!! Review: I could write a huge review about the book and tell you the story line but I am going to make this short and sweet. If you enjoy young adult books that have realiztic characters and situations easy to relate to then you will love this book. I got it today after hearing great things and read if for 4 hours straight and finished it. You will get hooked on this book, and all I can say is it is amazinly written, I loved the characters, and it actually is helping me with my own situations at the moment. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone, it is worth everything.
Rating: Summary: A little dated, but a classic Review: At this point, Annie on My Mind is dated. I suspect most teens would find it corny. However, it is the young adult novel that began a trend of high quality YA lit with homosexual protagonists who are not punished for their sexuality. The world of Annie and Liza is a far cry from today's world where gay teens populate WB dramas and teen movies (not to mention are out and proud in high schools everywhere). These girls had no role models on TV, in novels, in movies, or, really, in life. They depended on each other to explore questions of sexuality--I won't say they actually explore their sexuality, as there is little more than a chaste kiss in all of the novel. They were isolated and made mistakes. Anyone reading this can see how far the country has come in its attitudes towards homosexuals. Annie on My Mind is a bittersweet love story worth the read.
