Summary: It's the inside that counts
Review: I just finished reading this book in class. It is one of the most touching books I ever read. The setting takes place in the beginning of World War II. The story is about a boy who at first is racist among dark-skinned people. After The Hato, a trip that he's travelling on sinks, the boy finds himself on a life boat with only another man-dark-skinned. At first, he does not enjoy this at all. Bit by bit, he begins to enjoy this man. They find a cay to set on, and they become as if they were two of the same family members. They help each other, as well. The rest is just happy and sad.

I only wish I can give this book ten stars. It's one of the best!

Summary: A great novel, it'll be a classic
Review: The book is one of brilliant styles mixed with ironic statements. My favourite chapter is that of No 9. This is the part where Timothy slaps Phillip. This has been leading up to for a long time. Phillip portrays the typical young boy in the sense that he is prejudice due to his mothers views. This changes over the books progression and shows that the typical childs views can change. It is ironic that the bot Phillip has tobecome blind in order to see his racism.

Summary: An excellent, touching story about life, learning, and love.
Review: Everybody out there MUST read this book. Theodore Taylor has truly captured the art and captivation of human spirit, and somehow put it into a truly touching novel. You may think at first "Well, don't all authors do that?" The answer is no. Unlike all books, this one stays with you, influences your life, and teaches you that beauty can be found everywhere, if you dig deep enough, you can find it. I an not saying this because of this book's reputation, no. I'm saying this because this is what it is, what I believe.
