Summary: The Cay
Review: The Cay was a good book. Theodore Taylor set a great example of adventure in this book. He did not use many details to tell people what was going to happen before they read it. Phillip was very confused at first. Then towards the end of the book, he was positive of himself and very happy. It was sad when Timothy died because Timothy taught Phillip a lot. If Phillip was alone on the island again, he would do just fine.

Review: The Cay was a retarted book.I hated it.Timothy reminded me of Dr.Dre, Phillip reminded me of Eminem.To me, Timothy looked like Dr.Dre to me, and Phillip looked like Eminem to me.I dont really have much to say about this book because I hated it.It was thoughtful of Timothy to teach Phillip how to survive.

Summary: stranded on an island
Review: This is about a boy named Phillip who is stranded on an island with this man named Timothy. They were stranded on the island for a long time and on this island Phillip is blind and Timothy must help him find his way around, until Timothy decides to make a rope and when Timothy ask Phillip to help with the work but Phillip didn't want to help so Timothy slaped him in the face and then Phillip relize the stuff was really for him. I really don't want to give away to much info.

Summary: A lesson learned
Review: The Cay is a very good book, it is full of adventure and drama. Theodore Taylor wrote this story with unexpected twists and turns while using very little fore shadowing which gives you a chance to guess at what would happen next in the story. The story begins when a colored man named Timothy rescues a boy named Phillip from drowning after the main ship goes down. Unfortunately their rescue boat veers off course leaving Timothy and Phillip ship-wrecked on a deserted island . I highly recommend this book to people of all ages who like to read.

Is to keep your heart nearby when worst comes to worst.
Together they learn to survive and become dependent on all of the life around them. With a war raging around them their hopes of rescue are slowly dissipating. Their attempts to be seen continue to go unnoticed by the pilots. With tragedy around every corner Phillip must learn how to live on his own. One question lingers in Phillip's mind-"will I ever be rescued?" Theodore Taylor has a certain style of making his theme so irresistible that keeps his readers on the edge of their seats. This is a must read story for young adults and their parents.

Review: The Cay is about a boy, Phillip who only has one hope of surviving, a black man named Timothy. Phillip and Timothy were shipwrecked and Phillip hit his head and went blind. Phillip always looked down upon black people. He looked down upon black people because of his mother's hatred of black people. This most shows when he quotes, 'You stupid black man you can't even spell'. Now he must overcome his racism in order to survive. All in all this is a good book, it has just enough foreshadowing to give you hints about what is going to happen next. Like when Timothy told Phillip not to go near the edge because he'll fall overboard you know Phillip is going to fall overboard. That is good foreshadowing. I think this is a interesting book.

Review: Phillip is stranded on a small cay, and is stuck with one man...Timothy. This story tells of how a boy overcomes racism against a newfound friend, and learns to survive while being blind.
Phillip is racist because of his mother's hatred towards other cultures. It shows most when Phillip gets upset with Timothy and quotes, "You stupid old Blackman, you can't even spell."The setting of the story is a nice tropical island, near the coast of Venezuela. It makes you feel like you were there. The Cay is a very good book and sends a strong message to learn to get along with other races.

Review: During World War Two in the Caribbean, young Phillip Enright finds himself on a raft with a black man named Timothy. Phillip's mother taught Phillip that white people are better than blacks. Phillip needs to put his feelings aside, forget his racism, and learn to work with Timothy to survive. Will Phillip be able to look past Timothy's skin color and work with Timothy to live? Theodore Taylor does a great job of creating the atmosphere where hope overcomes despair and friendship defeats racism. I highly recommend this book because it is an exciting book that teaches children that all people are equal and should be treated the same.

Review: This book takes place during World War2, a time when the black people of America 'had their own side of town'. A white boy, Phillip is rescued from a sinking ship by a black sailor by name of Timothy. At first Phillip isn't sure he can trust Timothy. He was always taught that black people shouldn't be trusted. Through struggle and hardship Phillip must learn to forget about the color of skin.
Readers of all ages will love this tale of companionship. When Phillip becomes blind, his life rests in the strong palms of Timothy. For the first time Phillip is dependent on a black person. While living with Timothy, Phillip learns about different kinds of knowledge.
The first couple of chapters weren't grabbing but this book gets better. Theodore Taylor tells this story in a way that will make you laugh and cry. Taylor uses just the right amount of foreshadowing. He gave you an idea about what was going to happen without making it so obvious that is wasn't exciting.
Like it said on the cover: It took blindness to make Phillip truly see.
Rescue is something different altogether; will they make it home alive?
