Rating: Summary: A story of a girl learning how to survive on her own. Review: Charlotte Doyle is a thirteen year old girl who was born in America but has spent seven years of her life in England. Her father is an agent in the manufacturing of cotton. All of Charlotte's family, except she were to go to Rhode Island where she was born. Her father had thought it better for her to stay and finish her schooling. Being on the ship alone, Charlotte faces one big challenge: survival. When she notifies the captain of a round robin found in the crewmate's cabin someone is sure to get hurt. Someone does. Zacharia, an old crewmate ,is beaten almost to death because of Charlotte's actions. To make it up to the crew and Zacharia for being disloyal, she proves she can be a crewmate by climbing the mainmast. Later in the month during a hurricane someone stabs the first mate with Charlotte's knife. They all suspect it's she who viciously stabbed Mr. Hollybrass (first mate). The sentence is hanging. Will Ms. Doyle think of a plan before it's time for her to die? I thought this was a great book about a girl who learns how to survive on her own.

Rating: Summary: A great book Review: I think that "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle" is a book that is really worth reading. I loved the way that Avi set the story and the characters. I found it to be one of Avi's best. It is just one of those books that you can't put down. My favorite part was when Charlotte was climbing the rigging to prove that she wanted to help the crew and that she was sorry.
Rating: Summary: Charlotte is a prim young lady who totally changes. Review: I love books with twists. This is by far Avi's greatest work of fiction. It was so neat to see how different Charlotte had become from her "proper" family. I also thought it was neat how you, the reader, learned about the parts of the ship Charlotte traveled on.
