Rating: Summary: The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle Review: Ever wonder how your life would be if it shifted from total snob to a sailor? We are giving a book review on the book The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle By: Avi. This book is about a girl who is at first very stuck up and rich. Her dad and mom send her on a voyage on a ship called the Seahawk. She encounters many hardships such as the filthy condition of the ship. The captain (Jaggery) has a very bad reputation for beating a sailor so hard that he lost his arm. One thing that is very intriguing that the author, Avi, did was take little details and make them so important later, much later, in the story. For example, the picture of the Captains daughter. When Charlotte reached for it the Captain pulled it away. But later, much later it became a very important part of the crews attempted mutiny. Also about the detail is the fact that he adds a lot of detail into the most important scenes, such as Cranick being shot. Avi put a lot of detail in the way he was shot, and how he and his body reacted to the gunshot. If you think this book is too girly because of the title and cover, YOU'RE WRONG! This book has murder and it always keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is an action packed book, but I wouldn't recommend this to people that don't like historical fiction with murder or blood. If I were to make a nexus or a connection to this book I would say.... I can make a connection with Charlotte when your parents get mad at you and you feel like you want to run away. The only nexus I can't make about that is I don't actually run away. At first Avi was going to name the book " The Seahawk." But he was sooooo interested with Charlotte he named it after Charlotte. I believe this book is a lot more interesting about Charlotte Doyle then it would have been with only based on The Seahawk. Another interesting thing about this book is that it has two books in one. In the first she is a stuck up little 13-year-old rich girl and then in the second book she is a sailor. This is something that is not in a lot of books, but it fits perfectly in this one. Also about this book is the huge vocabulary that Avi used. Such as this quote from Charlotte: "The Captain wants thing to stay...punctilious." And you don't need a dictionary by your side to read this book. Most of the time you either know the word or you can pick up the words meaning from the context, such as "scrutinize" or above, "punctilious". Overall we rate this book on a scale of 1-10 an eleven because is has a great author, awesome characters, and a good plot.
Rating: Summary: The true confessions of Charlotte Doyle Review: Have you read a really good action packed book lately? Well, "The True confessions Of Charlotte Doyle" is the one to read; and is written by AVI, an awesome writer. This is just one of his many very far out books. He uses lots of author tricks, such as suspense , and cliffhangers, for example "There before me stood the looming head of Zachariah...", and foreshadowing. These tricks are really important to this double plot line story. The first thing Avi did well is tell about the main characters like Charlotte, Captain Jaggery, and Zachariah. One of the main characters (Zachariah) was based on a prophet from the Old Testament in the bible. Captain Jaggery's name perfectly fits his personality. Charlotte sounds like she could be like a real snob. When we first saw this cover we thought this was a girlish book but yet again, AVI comes to the rescue. This book is another reason looks can be deceiving. Another reason looks can be deceiving in this book is Charlotte's character change. What she is in the beginning is not at the end. Our opinion of Avi's wonderful words is a really optimistic one. For example, vexation means to be really mad or sad. Grotesque means ugly, ill-favored. Avi uses these wonderful words many times through the book to make the book interesting. In conclusion, we rate this book, " The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle," five out of five Huzzahs. The reason why we chose this is that AVI uses so many author tricks such as suspense, character change, double plot line , cliffhangers, and foreshadowing.

She's put on a ship by herself and is sent across the Atlantic. On the way over this proper little girl learns a lot about the way people are and that you can't count on all gentlemen being true gentlemen.

Rating: Summary: COOL BOOK Review: COOL book if I do say so my self. This book was a great story for all to read. Its about a 13-year-old girl named CHARLOTTE DOYLE.She was sent by boat ( the seahawk ) to America where her family was waiting. During the voage across she became a sailor. During this time her father told her to keep a journal witch at the end had vary little perpes but you have to read it your self.
Rating: Summary: An excellent book for young readers Review: I thought this book was filled with adventure and excitment. This book talks about a young women on a ship called the Seahawk. The girls emotions are torn from trying to decide wich person to believe. Thats why I gave this book five stars.
Rating: Summary: An Average Novel Review: This book I found to be an overrated novel about a girl coming home from boarding school on a sailboat. Her trip across an ocean, was by far imaginative and unbelievable. Never in my oppinion would a young girl do the things that Miss Charlotte Doyle did. Although I enjoyed reading this novel, I cannot say that I didn't, but it was a book I could not get into because it was so extreme. No girl would stow away on a ship after going through that kind of a tramatic experience. This is definetely a novel for imaginative, not someone who is as down-to- earth as I find myself to be, for I found this unbelievable.
Rating: Summary: The True Confessions Of Charlotte Doyle Review: This book was wonderful. I really enjoyed reading it. I would definitly recomend it. It's about a 13 year old girl that gets on a ship called the Seahawk. Her father wanted her to keep a journal but she forgot. A few dys after being on the Seahawk, she realizes that she should not have boarded the Seahawk. The Captian uses Charlotte as a spy. That's about all i want to say. I don't want to spoil the book. So have fun reading.
