Rating: Summary: Crunched between two pillars Review: A Review by RichieThis book is basically a book inside of a book. So it is basically Martin and his friends go out to find out whatever happed to his father. Then they travel to the north shore while managing to kill lots of vermin and pick up more crew members. Then after eating and feasting at numerous places. They captured a bout and sailed to the north shore. At the north shore where martin once lived they found an old man called Verg. Who was Luke's best friend. Finally Verg took Martin and his friends to the Arf ship where they start reading the real story The Legend of Luke. I did not like that the book was unfulfilled. I did not understand why when martin was little he left the north shore before his dad came back. I also felt that the ending was too sudden. There where things still hanging in the air. I recommend that be for anyone reads this book they would have to read other Red Wall books like Moss Flower or Martin the Warrior.
Rating: Summary: Legend of Luke a super book Review: Are you a fan of Watership Down? Are a fan of medieval weapons and heroes that are animals? Well then this book would be right for you. Martian, the warrior and protector of Redwall abbey, goes looking for his long lost father, Luke. He makes his way to the northland shores were he finds the story of this father. Luke's old friend, Vurg, told Martian the story of how Luke went to avenge his wife's murder, Sayan, who was killed by Vilu Daskar. All around this is very good book. I would give it 5 out of 5. Brian Jacques is an amazing author. Jacques also has thirteen other books. These are a good read for people who are waiting for the next Harry Potter.
Rating: Summary: Not exactly what i'd call legendary. Review: And so to the weakest of the Redwall series to date."The Legend of Luke" is a book that suffers terribly from awful beggining and closing 'books' but(strangely) the outstanding middle 'book' is argurably the high point of the series. It is this that I award the two stars for, but Martin's quest is pretty much the same as the one as in "Mossflower",and is thus a yawn-inducing read. The book shows one thing, and that is that Bran Jaques should have dedicated a whole book to Luke the Warrior.Yet every book holds a major addition to the series, and this one clears up past mysteries, and introduces one of the best Redwall characters ever to appear, which is Ranguver Foeseeker.
Rating: Summary: I guess I'm the minority.... Review: I don't really understand how so much people can cry praise for this book. I just read it and feel that it had very little to offer. To tell the truth I would have NEVER picked it up if it hadn't been required for school. To me "The Legend of Luke" seemed childish and dull... The storyline, if you can even call it that, dragged. The action was not exciting and it quickly got very old. The characters seemed two dimensional, not well written at all. I didn't connect emotionally with any of them. All of the songs, the slang that was used, and the way they always cooked such wonderful food bothered me as well. Perhaps I'm just too mature to read a book such as this. This book does not make you think about or question the world around you. The themes in the book were unoriginal. The book wasn't even amusing...
Rating: Summary: Wonderful...as usual Review: Okay, I've read almost all of the Redwall books and this is definitely one of my favorites. As most of his books are, this was an easy, enjoyable read with wonderfully developed characters and a timeless storyline. Following Martin, you find yourself as anxious as he is to discover the story of Luke, and I often found myself experiencing the joys and troubles of the characters in the book. If you're going to start reading Redwall, you should definitely start with this book.
Rating: Summary: I URGE YOU TO READ ALL 15 BOOKS, I DID! Review: I haven't read this book in for a long time, I remembered that I enjoyed this book the best. Are you tormented by the quantity of pages that this book contains? Don't be! After the first 25 pages you'll surely LOVE this book! After you accomplish that you will put everything you have down just to read the book(even if it means failing your science test!) I know you have read all those STUPID Harry Potter books, all the character developement is that Harry knows more spells and stills hates Malfoy(Sp?). And all the adventure in that book is stupid can't-say-his-name(What was J.K.R. thinking when she made THAT one up?) This book is smart, funny, and poignant I urge anyone to read it!
Rating: Summary: A must-have title for all ages! Review: I've been a big fan of the Redwall series for about 5-6 years now, and I've loved every installment in the series, and I can say The Legend of Luke is my personal favorite. I've read every Redwall book in the series at least 6 times each, and I can't wait until the next installment, ~Triss~, hits stores. Okay, here is how the book works out :). The book takes place way way way WAY in the past of the Redwall timeline, to the season where the construction of the abbey known as Redwall is near complete. There, Martin the Warrior is told of a strange tale about his father by a travelling hedgehog. The tale sticks to his mind, until he finally decides to head out and discover his father Luke's true fate. He leaves with Gonff, Foremole, and a few other companions, and encounter many friends and foes along the way. Finally, in the lands to the far north where Martin and Luke's clan hailed from, they discovered the remains of a giant red slave ship imbedded between two giant stone pillars. What awaits Martin and friends there???? Read the rest of the book to find out! :D
Rating: Summary: 12th and best Review: This book is the 12th and best of the Redwall series! I think so because it (as usual) leaves the reader hanging as he\she turns each page. Also, reading it is not like reading one book but two. And yet, the stories are interwoven. All in all, this is one of the best books I ever read
Rating: Summary: One of the beast Redwall Books Ever Written! Review: I urge you to buy this book. I have read nearly all of the Redwall series, and this is by far one of the best. The Story starts with Martin, the son of luke, and his friends Dinny the mole and Gonff, prince of mousethieves. He picks up a few more party members, but i'll let you find those out for yourself. After Martins fight with an evil wildcat in the book Mossflower, Martin lost almost all of his memory. So martin ventures out in search of his past and what happened to his Father, Luke the Warrior. Half of the story is Martin and his friends trekking through Mossflower to the northern shore caves. The other half starts right when martins father leaves him in search of an evil searat, that killed his wife. The story is sad and almost made me cry and the end. Various plot twists make this book hard to let go of. So just go buy it already! CAUTION! Buying this book may make you go Redwall Crazy!
Rating: Summary: The best this series has to offer! Review: A truely great story that will be praised by Redwall fans. The Legend of Luke is quite possibly the best since Martin the Warrior. A tale of a son in search of the father who left so long ago. This book will keep you reading till the last page, and weeping at the end. Learn of the fate of luke and his journey after pirates and corsairs to reap his revenge. This will be a book that fans will read again and again.
