Summary: WAAAAAAY overpriced!
Review: Any book in the Homecoming series would get a lukewarm review from the average Card fan. The storyline just isn't as riveting as Card's other works. I definitely wouldn't pay $200!!! for it! There must be a glitch in the system - are his books being printed on platinum now

Summary: Orson Scott Card Makes a Believable Universe
Review: Call of the Earth is an electrifying saga of humanity trying to leave their warlike ways. This is an "Earth that could be", and it's not all that far from reality. Very well worth reading!

Summary: Ancient science fiction, gotta love it!
Review: Card has produced a wonderful blend of past, present, and future. The people of Basilica exist in an ever consistant age that is "old", kinda medival. Yet their most violent emotions are kept at bay by an omni-present entity, the Oversoul, a computer created millions of years ago. If you don't find these concepts to be profound, then surely you'll find them to be extremely fun. ( Rick Giacomo )

Summary: Simply brilliant
Review: Definately Card's strongest series since Ender's game. He has all the skills, and displays them in The Call of Earth.

Summary: Dragged Out
Review: First of all, compoaring this work with the Enders series is not exactly fair. They are very different series in both direction and intent. Ender's Game was always intended to be a 'deep' book, while the Homecoming series is simply action adventure scifi. In that, it serves its purpose. The problem with this volume is that after the speed of the first book, this one drags out considerably. It seems to take all of the characters to take all the book to get from A to B, when it all could have been done in a few chapters and we could have gone on to C, D, and maybe even ... yes E. Still, it keeps you going, and several new plot elements are put into play, and I am looking forward to the next three books. But to get from Basilica to Earth in three books... I hope Crad pulls his socks up, or rather his character's.

Summary: Very well written, compliments the series well
Review: First of all, this is a great book. While it's practically impossible to read unless you've read the one before it, that's how it is with most series'. The characterazations, both of good characters and "villians" are supurb, and the plot is both epic and believable. It continues almost exactly where book one left off, right after Nafai kills whats-his-name for the Oversoul. This story immediatly begins on a darker note as several new characters enter the story, and the Oversoul's true intentions begin to become clear... Anyway, I won't say anything else because I just can't bring myself to spoil it for you, but trust me, this is an awesome series! One thing that did bother me about though was while this series seemed to take an interest in the rights and interests of women, it seemed to take the other side halfway through the book, which was quite annoying. Besides that though this was a great book that I recommend to any sci-fi fan.

Summary: A Powerful Overlord takes on a Powerful God
Review: Follow the tales of the evil General Moozah and his desire to take over the city of Women. He has marched his powerful army down from the north in an attempt to prepare to take over this enchanted city, and now he has come upon one of the most powerful families making plans to leave, and desiring them not to do so. Card uses a rather poor mechanism to allow them to escape, as this book really should have been combined with the next one, as neither advances the plot enough to fill an entire book. Both are drawn out and unecessary except for the simple adancement of plot and character development. However, the plot itself is obvious, and characters do not change in any way, but instead strengthen their existing interactions.

For a single book, pass on this selection, but for the series, a must read.

Summary: Card does it again
Review: I am a big fan of all of Card's books. This is another one of his spectacular works which portrays his wonderful way with characters and emotions. It is a MUST READ (read the Memory of Earth first though, being this book 2nd in the series and Memory of Earth the First.) It brings Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Fiction together in a suspence filled paradisce.

Summary: The Best of the Homecoming series
Review: I am not enamored with the series as a whole, but I loved the Call of Earth. Moozh is unforgettable, and Card shows to our astonishment that he does know how to end a book when he feels like it. The whole series was worth reading if only for this second book!
