Summary: Amazing!!!
Review: In the third installment of Protector of the Small, Kel, the disputed female squire, finds a knight-master, a boyfriend,... and great evil. True to Ms. Pierce's writings, this book is eloquent, and can stand up to many readings. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed Hobbit, or the Book of Artemis Fowl.

Summary: Fantastic!!!!!!!!
Review: Really good. very detailed. I'm not a fan of the Cleon-Kel thing though. Maybe she and Dom will get together cause she still has a crush on him. cleon and her don't seem in love just kinda fluddery, like almost superfishal. The Battel senes are well thought out but not gory. My one problem with T P.'s books is i feel sad when they end not because they are sad but i always want more even though the ending is a complete one. Gods! i'm like Chaos herself!!I would give this book 7 stars but it only goes up to 5(grins sheepishly) Cate Tiernan is a good auther too. Looking forward to Lady Knight. Only One More Month!!! yahoo!!!

Summary: A book that all Tamora fans will love.
Review: This book, the third in the Protector of the Small series, is one of Tamora Pierce's best.
Keladry of Mindelan has survived her years as a page and is moved up to a squire. But she doesn't want to be a desk knight, and is worried that a real knight won't pick her. Until Raoul of Goldenlake and Malorie's Peak (yes, the same Raoul in the Alanna books, for all you Pierce fans) takes her on as squire. He treats her just like he would a regular goy squire, which is one reason she likes him. He is also the commander of the King's Own, and with him, Kel will almost definitly see plenty of action and get to try her skills. The only bad thing about this is that Sir Alanna isn't going to be her knight master - instead, she picks someone Kel is very close to! Even so, after the King's Own tracks down some badits, Kel gets stuck with a griffin and has to lug him around with the Own, which gets to be kind of troublesome. After tacking down the bandits, Kel and her knight master return home to the palace, where he helps her to joust, something she begins to get very good at. Soon, the prince's bethroed wife from the Yamani Islands comes to Tortall, where Kel helps to introduce the young princess to her new city of Corus. The entire court, servants, nobles, and squires alike, all go on a Great Progress, where the princess will be introduced to Tortall and it's people. I don't want to spoil anything else, but lets just say that things get to be even more tense between Kel and her old enemy, Joren of Stone Mountain; Kel keeps challenging herself against the door of the Chamber of the Ordeal where she has visions; and there is a great deal of trouble with the Scanrans in the north - the Kraken turns out to be a big test to Kel to prove herself to the men of the Own. All in all, this is a very exciting book, and I can't wait for the next book to come out, Lady Knight!

Summary: Keladry's years as a Squire
Review: After 4 years of training as a Page, Keladry has finally become a squire. Although she is disappointed at first when Lady Alanna, the first female kngith, does not choose her to be her squire she soon gets over it when she learns that Raoul, who is easy going and a modern thinker, choses Kel. Her time as a squire is not spent serving the knight, which is what normally happens, but her own training to be a knight herself. She quickly learns that her talents when it comes to such things as jousting can come in handy in more ways than she even throught.

But Kel's life is more complicated still when a flirtation with a fellow squire quickly turns to romance. Kel never thought she'd be interested in her friend in that way but she's soon discovering that she is. And to top it off Kel is preparing for her most difficult challenge as a squire, the chamber of the ordeal. And her visit to the chamber may be more challenging than she ever thought, after all in the past year two squires have died while in the chamber walls and she certainly doesn't want to end up as the third!

If you're a fan of Tamora Pierce's series, Protector of the Small, you're sure to be entertained witht this one. Looking at the book you'll discover that it's much longer than anything she's ever written (thanks to such authors as Philip Phullman and JK Rowling who have opened up the door for longer childrens fantasy books) it's just as good as the rest. The plot is more complex yes, and more things do happen in the nearly 400 pages but you still have the same magic that Tamora has managed to pack into 250. Unlike others, I found Kel's new romance to be a welcomed surprise, becasue it is unlike any we have seen in Tamora's books. Although I'm not sure how long it will last... Anyways if you're a fan of Tamora's books like me you'll love Squire.

Summary: Very good book!! you gotta read it... by Zoe G. age13
Review: In third grade (a little too soon!) I read the "The Song of the Lioness" series, and ever after I have been posotively gobbling up Tamora Pierce's books. They are SO GREAT! When I read "First Test," I really enjoyed it, but I still liked the Alanna series better. However, with "Squire," I had a wonderful time reading it! (I lent it to several of my friends, and they're all hanging on me for "Lady Knight;" obviously they loved "Squire".) I was a smidgeon surprised when Neal wasn't the big shebang anymore, but I didn't think it was too bad... The only thing is, it makes you wonder: If Neal suddenly disappeared, will Cleon do the same?? Well, I know Tamora Pierce to do things like that (if you've read about Alanna & Jonathan, and then Alanna & George)...

Any person who believes in a strong woman equal to men will enjoy this book. I especially liked it being longer than the previous books in the series. ( The longer the better!) It has a good pace, with plenty of action, yet isn't driving the reader insane with a lack of calm moments. I also think this is (so far) the best of the "Protector of the Small." ( I'm sure my friends would say so too). Well, there's at least seven people who adore this book here in Austin TX. I say, READ THIS, or you are missing out!!

Summary: Yippee!!!
Review: I love this author and in this book the heroine Kel finally has a little romance. It is very satisfying to watch her open up a little bit and lose some of the reserve she has displayed in past books. The author keeps up the pace in this book with a minimum of space filler. You're constantly wondering what's going to happen. Will Kel pass the Ordeal? What about the war to the North? The ending is unexspected and changes the way you think about the Chamber. A must read for Pierce fans.

Summary: Good but not a masterpiece
Review: A good book but not as good as the first of the series, THe first test, I have to say Tamora PIerce is better at writing first books than writing the rest of the series

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Squire
Review: I have read every single one of Tamora Pierce's books, and this one is by far my favorite. This is the continuation of Kel's life trying to become a knight. This book takes you through her career as a squire, and up to her experience in the chamber of the ordeal. Kel comes to tearms with herself better and even finds love. This is definitly worth reading!

Summary: Squire- a sure to read
Review: This was an exciting and forshadowing third book of the Protector of the small series. It had lots of detail and events outside of fighting for those who aren't the battle type, but enough action to satisfy the greatest thirst for battle. I loved it! I first read it at age 12, but I'm now thirteen and I'm going to be the first one to buy the next book, Lady knight! Kel is depressed by the fact that her dream to have the legendary Lady Alanna as her knight master has been squashed, but is suprised and delighted by getting the knight commander of the king's own himself as a knight master. Plenty of adventure, fun, humor, and even some romance. The biggest mystery at the end is her destiny, and who she'll end up living hapily ever after with. A must read!

Summary: 4 1/2 stars
Review: This was an awesome book, I don't think however, that it was as good as 'First Test' or 'Page.' I loved 'Page.' The book is all about a girl heroine, who is going through her years as squire, after completing her training as a page. There's romance and other funny stuff. You won't see as much of her friends, you get a more detailed excerpt of Kel's life, and she has to go through the terrible "ordeal" to become a knight. GREAT book, but read the other 2 first!!!
