Summary: One of the best books I've ever read!
Review: The High King is a wonderful book. A couple years ago I wanted a book with a mixture of action, drama, humor, fantasy, and rich characters. I found the Prydain Chronicles and got it! It was great! You've got to read it! Some might think at first it's not what they want, but boy, it draws you in!! If you've read the other Prydain Chronicles, you've got to read this one. It answers questions, but in a shocking, unexpected way. Lloyd Alexander is a great author, so try some of his other books too! I highly recommend this book to anyone! Read it to see why I'm so excited about it!

Summary: The Best Book in the Prydain Chronicles
Review: I just finished reading this book with my 8th grade classmates and I thought it was an incredibly exciting book. This 5th and final book in the Prydain Chronicles answers some questions that arose from the first four books, and also raises more. Where the first four books left you hanging, The High King brings you to the top. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves adventure and fantasy. For all you Prydain fanatics who haven't read this book, I must "warn" you: Expect the Unexpected!

Summary: What a great book!
Review: Oh, WOW is this thing good! You have got to read it! I mean, really, how many books do you come across that actually have such a rich selection of characters, + a little humor? I really like the part when Taran....... well, never mind. Read it yourself and find out what I'm talking about. It's wonderful!

Summary: Lloyd Alexander
Review: I have been an avid Lloyd Alexander fan since I was a baby and I still am. All his books are well crafted, wonderful works of fantasy - the Prydain Chronicles are something I will always enjoy. Whether you're a child or an adult, experience a Lloyd Alexander novel.

Summary: Read it
Review: This is the first book that i read that got me into reading. Though it is for younger readers, older readers can not go wrong in reading this series. It has the spirit and the adventure found in good fantasy books.

Summary: I named my son Taran
Review: I first read the Prydain Series when I was 10 years old, since then I have read each of the books a minimum of 10 times and look forward to reading them again soon. Whenever the complications of real life get me down, I pick up one of the five books and read it. Reading these books takes you back to when life was simpler and the world in my perception was more black and white. To start at the High King would be like walking into Gone With the Wind after Atlanta burned. Sure you might enjoy it, but it would never have the oppurtunity to understand the essance of who these characters are. As I have named my only son Taran, I think it is obvious how I value these books.

Summary: Reluctant reader, reads this Fantasy
Review: After reading the 2nd book in this series, I greatly became dulled and bored of this quintet. But reluctantly continued, and read The High King. may I proclaim, this is a must read out of the 5 books. If like I, you became bored, just go ahead and read THE HIGH KING, it stands on it's own.

Summary: Wow
Review: I bought a hardback copy of the whole Prydain Chronicles in one book at Goodwill for only fifty cents!! Now THAT was really good luck! This is a really great book, but I definitely suggest reading the series in order. And.. IT IS NOT FOR PEOPLE 9-12!! I can stand seeing that at the top of the page. I'm older than that, and I enjoyed it very much.. Besides, my book (which does include one extra Prydain book, other than the main five books) has nearly 800 pages, with reasonably small text. You don't see 9-12 year olds reading anything like that quite often, you know. Anyway, this is a great book so read it... Oh yeah! By the way, I haven't seen it, but I think Disney's The Black Cauldron is stupid! The characters look nothing like they're supposed to, and I'd bet if I saw it I'd have a lot more to gripe about it too. So if you saw the movie and didn't like it, read the Prydain Chronicles anyway because "The books are always better than the movies."

Summary: A series worth reading 10 times over!!!
Review: The High King ends the great Prydain chronicles, and stands as the best of the five. Why do they say ages 9-12! Heck, I could be fifty and I'd still read these books! These books are for fantasy lovers of ALL ages!

Lloyd Alexander has written a masterpiece here, and these five books will go down in history as some of the best classic fantasy ever written! Well done, Lloyd!!!

Summary: Just for kids? NOT!
Review: This one is my favorite of the Prydain Chronicles, not so much as it portrays the culmination and grand climax of the series, as the values it portrays. This would perhaps be the most difficult for younger children to understand, but the best for those who grow older. Adults can learn from Taran's self-sacrifice, as can children. Whether you love fairy tales or not, you will enjoy this book. Oh, but don't read it unless you've read the other four in order. It kind of spoils the story...
