Rating: Summary: The High King by Lloyd Alexander Review: The High King is my favorite book in all Pyrdian Chronicles. It is a mystical tale of a boy named Taran and the many journeys in which he and his companions go. During Taran's young ages as a pig keeper, to where he and his companions are in a battle trying to save their homeland, Pyrdian from the evil lord of Annuiven and his lifeless soldiers, the cauldron born. So if you're in the mood for fantasy, or if you just want to read a great book, I strongly suggest to you The High King.
Rating: Summary: What an Ending Review: Oh my goodness, how good is this book. I haven't read a book this exciting and suspenseful in a long time. This is a great ending to the wonderful series, the Chronicles of Prydain. How Taran unsheathes the Dyrnwyn, and how everyone fights for Prydain during the epic adventure of Taran trying to become a hero. I still say that Prince Gwydion should've come out more throughout the series but hey; the best is the best in my view. This book is again about Taran, assistant pig keeper of Caer Dallben. This time, however, everyone that has been in the past books (that didn't die yet) came out and played a major role against Arawn, Death-Lord, Lord of Annuvin (the main evil character in the series). Well, in the end it was still Taran who played the biggest role (again). What I loved most about this book is that is how Taran becomes the High King of Prydain at the end of this book. It was something that I would've never expected or even thought about since Taran is just an assistant pig-keeper. I also couldn't believe that Eilonwy would give up all her magical powers being an enchantress like herself. I kind of felt sad at the end when many main characters died at some point in the book like Coll and even the high king of Prydain Math!
Rating: Summary: A Great Adventure Review: If you enjoy the other books in this series, you would really like this book. If you like books with lots of sword fighting and a lot of traveling, you'll love this one. This book also has lots of cliff hangers. The book is about Dyrnwyn, Gwydion's sword, being stolen by Arawn and how they get it back.
Rating: Summary: Extra! Extra! This Is The King Speaking Review: There is a problem at the princess's castle. What is happening there? Someone toke one of her swords. The protagonists (main character) of the story are Gurgi and Taran who are the bravest men in the whole country. This story takes place at the princess's castle and the bad person's hide out. The plot (problem) of this story is about one of the princess's sword's falls into a bad person's hands. The princess really likes that sword it is the best and the most powerful one of them all. Will they get the sword back? Please read the book to find out.In this book people worked together to help each other. People worked together because they wanted to help everyone even the princess because they are kind people. This book shows everyone how to use teamwork. People are kind to each other and they are no mean. This is a good book to read because people are helping each other. This book will teach everyone how reads it a lesson. If you are reading this please take my advice because I learned something from this book and if I did I know you would too.
Rating: Summary: My thoughts on The High King Review: In The High King, as in the other books in the Prydain Chronicles, we join Taran and Eilonwy and the rest of the group. But, this book is quite different from the others. Who would have thought the group would have to deal with Arawn the Death-Lord AND take care of a clumsy prince? If you ask me, that's kind of sick. I loved it. The fierce battles were the most exciting I've read in a while. But, it was sad when our old friends met their demise thanks to the Cauldren Born. Those and the other books in the Prydain Chronicles are awesome books. They're perfect for your action-loving medievil type readers. I can honestly say that Lloyd Alexander writes the best books I have ever read. You have got to read these books!
Rating: Summary: Book Review: I first read this book when I was eight, and thought very highly of it. It was one of the most advanced pieces of literature I had read back then and enjoyed it very much. I had finished it within a few days after I had begun; it was fast paced and always kept me on my toes waiting in anticipation. It developed the characters well and was easy to follow. I got attached to the main characters throughout the series, and when excruciating pain was done to any of the characters I felt uncomftorable as if small daggers were pricking at my skin, I felt pitying towards them. I loved the ending aswell as all the themes running through this book. It is a small easy read that no young child should miss out on. When you read this book your senses seem to become more acute; if you are supposed to dislike a character you feel the uttermost hatred to them, if you are supposed to like a character you get attached to them. In this book you can feel what the characters feel; you can sense foreshadowing. This is just a short fun book, and I enjoyed it very much.
Rating: Summary: If you haven't read it yet, you're crazy... Review: What can I say? It's Lloyd Alexander, isn't it? The only bad thing about this book was the fact that it was the last in the series. Everything is vividly and wonderfully told (like all the other books in the series, but hey). Don't like to read, you say? Well, think about it as watching a movie with action, adventure, comedy, and an extremely intelligent girl named Eilonwy. Mr. Alexander has been my favorite author for some time now, and this book strongly confirmed it. Check it out (but not before reading the first four books in the series, of course)!
Rating: Summary: The ending of the Prydan Chronocles Review: The High King is a Newbery award winner in a series of 5 books (The High King is last book in the series). Starting with the mystical and astonishing book The Book of Three, this series builds over time and forces the reader to read these books again after time. The book starts off with Taran, once a cowardly assistant pig keeper. After the other books he develops the skills needed for a warrior, and is now grown up into a majestic character with the other characters met and discovered in the other books. The saddest and dreadful book in the series, the story must end, and main characters that played an important role are enforced in this book, ending the series once and for all. This book is the final attack made towards the Death Lord, and seals the paths for epilogues, but leaves room for the past to be revealed. The series read together make a great connection towards each other, and answers all unanswered questions that remain in the readers' head. This adventure plots all the characters from previous journeys, and makes a perilous excursion for the fantasy readers. Just like any series, what happens in the past controls the future. This book, read with the series or alone, provides adventure for any age. The fantasy based book implanted on the fundamentals of a welsh legend shows how people can react sometimes, or how much their customs make notice in front of intelligence and common sense.
Rating: Summary: It was great! A 12 year old reader Review: The book was the best from the series. It told all the unknown anwsers from the other book. This book was the most suprising and intense book I have ever read. If you are going to read this book than read the other four before this one because it will ruin the magic of the story. My favorite book from the other four was the black cauldron. I especially recommend this book if you like adventure, riddles, and magic.
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL BOOK Review: I loved this book. I read it after reading all of the rest of the Chronicles of Prydain before this one (It's best if you read the other ones first because you get more attached to the characters) and they were all wonderful. I suggjust this book to everybody all though there were some parts where I was almost crying. It gets right down to all the exsitement and is very good.
