Summary: Fallen Angels
Review: Fallen Angels is the story of Richard Perry a young solider who has just arrived in Vietnam during the middle of the war in 1968. During the story Perry is caught between being brave when in reality he is scared to death, and his struggle to come to grasps that he could die during the war. There is also the fight between the U.S. army and the Vietcong army. The writing style is unique with flashbacks to Perry's life before the war with his brother and in Harlem. This book has a lot of things that reflect the lives of many soliders in wars. There is also the constant worry of dying in a bombings of gunfights. I believe that this book is a great way to is how the war affects the lives of people in the war and the their families. I really enjoyed this book. At first I believed it would be just another war story, but it is just the opposite. it is a wonderful story, with its simple plot and simple words. Fallen Angles is an easy book to get caught up in.

Review: Fallen Angels by: Walter Dean Myers

This book is a Vietnam War book. It is about this eighteen-year-old boy named Perry. He gets drafted into the war right out of high school. The whole book shows his conflicts fighting death. Fighting his own death and fighting his friends' death that he is stationed with in Vietnam. It shows the companionships that had formed amongst the kids stuck in that terrible place. It let you know how really bad and traumatizing it would have been for an eighteen-year-old kid to all of a sudden be forced to kill. It also shows how sad it would be to see all the death that went on in this war. So many people wanted to join and fight in these wars but once they get there they change their minds. This book shows that.

I enjoyed reading this book, for a few reasons. One it was never boring there was always something happening. Whether it was a battle in the dark that would last for days or it was Perry partying with the other soldiers. I never felt like I had to stop reading because I was so entertained. Another reason I liked the way the book is written. It is very easy to read and understand. The book doesn't drag on with explaining. It is easy enough for you to understand everything without the never-ending pages of describing something the way most books are. It was a really quick read I like that about books. Over all I would give this book a nine out of ten. I think anyone could enjoy reading this book.

Summary: Fallen Angels
Review: In Fallen Angels, Myers tells the story of Richard Perry who lands in Vietnam as a newly trained recruit that enlisted in the Army just out of high school. At only seventeen, he begins a year of facing the brutal reality of war and learning to trust his fellow soldiers unconditionally. He experiences an unending struggle with the jungle, where the enemy hides and puts booby-traps. Continually he is frightened by the claymores, mines hidden in the ground everywhere, and the firefights when he cannot see the enemy. Perry's fear is always constant such as whenever the helicopter raises up and the fear as it drops him into the Landing Zone to begin another patrol. As the year progresses though, he grows in confidence in himself; but the horror of war never eludes him, especially the scariness. The men in his squad fluctuate between boredom in the hooches and intense action in battle as he sadly sees some of his comrades die. Myers has portrayed Perry's year in Vietnam so authentically that the reader can sense the feelings he wrestles with on a daily basis. As each scene unfolds though, Myers underscores the gallantry and conflicts within the soldiers as he tells their story. Fallen Angels is an authentic portrayal of some the painful history of our country. One of the soldiers says at one point in the story: "He let us be human again; in all the humanity about us, he let us be human again" as they talk about each other.

Summary: This book made me a BOOK READER 12 years ago
Review: I first read this book when I was 14 years old. My uncle served in Nam and I was curious what he went through. I hated to read at the time, but in school we always got these book club flyers to take home that had books our parents could buy us. My mom was thrilled that I wanted a book, and bought it for me. This book honestly changed my life. I'm 26 years old now, and from the first day I picked this book up, my whole attitude towards books changed. Today I still have and every so often read Fallen Angels. I must have read this book at least 50 times. Pages have fallen out and been glued and taped back in. I would like to thank Walter Dean Myers with all my heart for his dedication to the youth of this nation. His books were the start of who I am today. I have since purchased and read about 75 other books about the war in Vietnam, trying to understand this time before I was born. I have great respect for all those whose served, and would like to thank them as well.

Summary: the best book ever
Review: Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers was one of the best books i have ever read. I couldnt put it down!!! I am not the person who generally likes to read(i am usually forced) but i read this book all on my own! Myers has a way with his books. I now am reading Scorpions and that is a great book as well. Perry and Peewee, the two main characters have made a bond with eachother that will last forever. Myers made the book awsome. Great read. Some bad language and violence but still, a great book. Strongly recogmended for ages 14+.

Summary: Fallen Angels
Review: One of the most suspenseful books I have read so far in my life would definitely be "Fallen Angels." Walter Dean Myers, (the author) has written very many 5 star books including "Fallen Angels." This book was a good read for me at 309 pages. The main reason I liked this book was the non-stop suspense and all of the huge fire fights. Perry, (the main character) gets drafted to the Vietnam War. Perry gets into about 15 patrols and about 7 of them turned into fire fights. In all of these fire fights, Perry never once killed a Cong, (Vietnamese). Even though Perry never killed anyone, his patrol mates like Peewee, Johnson or Monaco had shot down quite a few Congs. Relating to Perry was easy for me and it probably would be easy for you to because this book has so many different points of views. I encourage you to read "Fallen Angels" because this book was so good that I couldn't put it down no matter how hard I tried. The big question is, will Perry get shot down on the battle field. or will he make it out alive?

Summary: Fallen Angels
Review: Fallen Angels is the best book I've ever read and by far my favorite. This book can make you laugh one minute then give u that frightened feeling in the pit of your stomach the next. The story takes place during the VIetnam war. The main characters are named Perry and Peewee. AT the time they thought going to war would be a good idea at the time. They were in for it because war was not as thoughtlessly fun and interesting as it seemed. I loved this book. There was so much suspense and action you just couldn't put the book down. The way the men bonded was a beautiful contribution to this book. You just feel like your in the book. This was definitly the best book I've ever read and, dispite some language, i strongly recommend this book to all ages that have any taste for a good book, because this is nothing less than a great book.
