Rating: Summary: Read This Book! Review: Did you ever wonder what it was like in Vietnam? If you do the book Fallen Angels will be perfect for you. Fallen Angels is written by Walter Dean Meyers and it's a historical fiction novel about a young man's journey to the Vietnam War. You will like this book because it's realistic, full of suspense and it is written by an award-wining author.
When I say this book is realistic I also mean that this book gives a more accurate portrayal of what the main character's life would have been like if this entire book was a true story. For example, the main character, Ritchie, watched his best friend get blown up by a land mine right beside him during a patrol. It doesn't get any realer than that!
This book really is suspenseful. The end of every chapter always leaves your senses tingling for more. This book keeps you on your toes the whole time you're reading it! Here's an example from the book.... "What are we going to do later? ... (Shot, Shot) Oh SH#T." That was a real cliffhanger for the end of that chapter. There is no way you can resist reading the next chapter.
The author of this book is Walter Dean Myers. He has won awards for many of the teen novels he has written. Some of the books he has won awards for are Somewhere in the Darkness and Monster, which is stated right in the book! Walter Dean Meyers is probably one of the best teen authors there are.
In conclusion, you should go purchase this book right now because it's realistic, full of suspense, and it's written by an award-wining author. I would recommend this book to whoever likes a good action/suspense teen novel. This book shows a lot of action and suspense so go get a copy at your local library or bookstore. What do you have to lose?
Rating: Summary: my favorite book of all times Review: you cant get any more real that this book rite here. i read this as a freshman in high school, and as a freshman in college, i still say it's the best book i've ever read, and i've read john grisham books. it's scary to think how certain things havent changed and how you mix the same war trauma with today's fragile and easily manipulated minds that have been raised more by barney, the simpsons and jay-z than their own parents. anyways, superb read, easy read, enojyable read, superb read, nuff said.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: This book is so great, I can't believe it should just be limited to young adults. One of the best books about the Vietnam War ever!
Rating: Summary: One of my favorite books!! Review: This book was sad, and trilling at the same time. I couldn't put it down. In one day i had read 131 pages. It makes you think twice about the war and the situation we are in right now, and what we are doing. This book is a classic, and I recomend it to everyone. Read this book and I garentee you will love it.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book Review: This book is probably the easiest read you'll ever have in your life. The story is excellent, and you really feel for Richie Perry, the protagonist. He goes through a lot and Fallen Angels is incredibly realistic. This is one of the best war books out there, and it is one of the best books I've ever read.
Also, the author's brother died in veitnam, so you know that this is all from the heart, and Walter Dean Myers displays his affection in the book openly and it makes the book even better.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Review: I did like the novel, but it was not something I would usually read. My father was a Vietnam Veteran so that kept me interested in the novel. I could almost see what was going on during the war by reading the book. Images would pop up in my head as I read the high and low points of the novel. This novel made me think about what my father had to go through during the war.
The novel started off slow, but it spead up after a while. There were five soldiers assigned to the same squad. They did not like their squad leader. They wahted to band together to get rid of him. They were trying to work together and stay alive while doing there their job in Vietnam. Death came on both sides of the battle field.
I would recommend this novel to any one who wants to vision what American soldiers went through in the Vietnam War. This book is not for everybody, but the ones who will check it out, it is worth it.
Rating: Summary: Fallen Angels- Read it or else!! Review: This book was more than I expected. The intro was kind of prolonged but it eventually gets off to a good start. Richard, the main character really, lets us in his mind and what he is going through mentally and physically. His side kick Peewee also acts as the comic relieve; to me at least. I couldn't predict the end which made me want to read it more. I didn't expect it to end as it did but all in all it was a good book. The characters seem genuine and you can relate to the situations . I would recommend it for any avid reader.
