Summary: if u liked "feeling sorry for celia" u'll lov this!
Review: The "posh" girls of Ashbury High are being forced to take part in a pen pal project with the "tattooed bunny-killers" of Brookfield High. oh no!

Written completely in letters and such, this very interesting novel will have you hooked untill the last notice board pin up.

You follow three best friends (wild lydia, down to earth Em and "crazy" cassie) as they meet three fellas from brookfield (charlie the car thief (i lov him), seb the artist, and matthew the trumpet player (?))

Its full of love, friendship, revenge, parents, death, self confience, tears and laughter.

I say read it, the idea of letters might put you off if you've ever read "dear clair my ex best friend" but this is quality!

and remember: "Slavery will NOT be tolerated in this school."

Summary: One of the Best Books I've Ever Read
Review: The Year of Secret Assignments was one of the best books I've ever read. I stayed up all night reading it! The plot is about three friends named Lydia, Emily and Cassie, who have to write to three boys from a rival school named Sebastian, Charlie and Matthew. Lydia is strange; Emily is flamboyant; Cassie is withdrawn; Seb is sweet; Charlie is funny; and Matthew is, well--that would be giving the plot away. This is a great book and it kept me totally engaged, or as Emily would say, insinuated. Everyone should read The Year of Secret Assignments!

Summary: An awesome book!!!
Review: The Yr. of Secret Assignments is a great book! It's about 3 private school girls writing to 3 boys, who they cannot relate to at all. My favorite characters were Emily and Charlie. The "Date with a Girl" was really funny. Cassie was a little bit boring to me and Matthew was...read the book to find out! But in Cassie's and Matthew's letter exchanges, Matthew changes really suddenly. Lydia and Seb are fine, but you can't really tell what Lydia's really thinking and doing.
I recommend this book to girls from the ages of 13-17. It was awesome and I could not put it down!!!

Summary: Remarkable
Review: This book is about 3 girls (Lydia, Cassie, and Emily) who are best friends and go to a posh school called Ashbury. Their teacher assigns a penfriend project with the school rival, hoping it'll bring peace. Lydia, Cassie and Emily write letters to 3 boys (Charlie, Matthew and Seb). Lydia and Emily are happy with their penfriends (Charlie and Seb) while Cassie recieves awkward, usually 1 or 2 sentences from a Matthew Dunlop. When she and Matt agree to meet after he's softened up to her, something scary happens, and her 2 best friends and their penfriends decided to take action and get back at him.
But when Lydia and Emily ask Seb and Charlie about Matt, they discover there's no one who holds this name at the rival school Brookfield.
After they all confront Matt, strange things happen at both schools. Viruses affect the Ashbury e-mailing system, rude graffiti covers the walls of both schools, and the Brookfield science lab has a slippery floor. When Lydia, Cassie and Emily are accused of the "wrong-doings", Lydia and Emily pull in Seb and Charlie to try and find justice between the 2 schools.
If you read the Sisterhood Series, Feeling Sorry for Celia, Gingerbread or the Confessions of Georgia Nicholson series, you'll find this extremly funny and enjoyable!

Summary: You'll want to read it twice
Review: This book was even better than "Feeling Sorry for Celia."

I've read the other customer reviews, and I wanted to say that I liked all three girls (Lyd, Cass and Em) and found their journeys interesting for different reasons. Lyd is a born leader with a powerful imagination. Her letters made me laugh aloud. But then, so did Cassie's. If you read her second letter to Matthew Dunlop, the understatement is hilarious.

Also, all three girls grow and change throughout the course of the story (Lyd and Em with regards to their relationships with the opposite sex), but Cassie is the one whose journey takes the most courage and who steps out of her comfort zone the most.

An earlier reviewer has done an excellent job of discussing Emily-isms. I found Charlie's comments and Seb's remarks to be quite funny as well. (See Seb's first letter to Lydia and Charlie's first letter to Emily).

Read the book -- you will want to read it over again, just to pick up all the pieces you might have missed.

Summary: FANTASTIC!
Review: This book was just absolutely amazing. It's made up of letters, notes, diaries, and emails. Two rival schools are doing a pen pal program. As you get further into the book, you see each person's relationship with their pen pal develop-or worsen. This book was very entertaining, but it does have some adult language. You should still read this book!!!!!

Summary: a really good book
Review: This book was so great, this is probably one of my favorite books. It's written in letters, journal entries, and notes, which can sometimes be cheesy but is actually really cool in this book. This is definitely a GIRL BOOK,but i think some guys might like it too. It's fun and funny, with some touching scenes and some hurtful ones thrown in. The writing is witty, the characters realistic and flawed. The only problem is that sometimes it is kind of obvious what will happen next, but it doesn't really mess up the book that much. I reccomend this book to girls aged 13 to 16.

Summary: A Great Book
Review: This was an excellent book, I loved it and have read it several times. Each of the characters are extremely realistic and easy to cheer for. I was able to identify with the emotions, and their assignments were funny. A great read for teenagers especially.
