Review: I am a 13 year old girl, and i personally loved this book! this has to be my favorite book ever! im not gonna write what the book is about because you can just read ever 1 else's reveiw. I thought this book was phenomanal , even the ending. I did not think the ending was unrealsitic at all! i thought that robert cormeir did a great job and i want to read more of his books like the Chocolate War. When i was reading this book i didn't want to put it down. I am recommending all of my freinds to read it and you should too!

Summary: Unrealistic Ending
Review: Having read two other great Cormier books in the past: The Chocolate War and I Am the Cheese, I had big expectations for this posthumous novel. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed.

Most of the book is actually quite good, and very thought-provoking. The characters are three-dimensional, and you really get into their minds, and the motivations behind their actions are clear. However, the ending is a complete letdown and totally unbelievable. I don't want to give too much away, but Cormier seems to discard all thought of character and intention just to give his reader a shocking surprise ending.

[. . .]

So, all-in-all, I'm glad I read the book, but I think its ending is fatally flawed. If you want to read a good Cormier novel, go pick up The Chocolate War instead. It's plot is supremely fine-tuned, and there's much more emotional investment in it, too.

Summary: Twists and turns until the end
Review: I always look forward to summer vacation. It means no school for 2 months. No homework, sleeping as late as you want, staying up until your eyelids shut and you are on no schedule. Almost every kid feels this way, any normal kid feels this way, even unnormal kids feel this way, even Jason Dorrant feels this way.

Jason is the quiet type, he is a good kid who just minds his own business. Well unless your a bully at school and he decides he has had enough and he hits you in the lunch line right in the face. Other than that Jason is very mild mannered, he doesn't have many friends and he doesn't say much. Even if he knows the answers in class he is still worried when he is called on.

So then summer vacation is here and Jason can't wait. He just wants to enjoy himself but that sure does take a quick turn. Jason hasn't even had a full day to enjoy the break and a tragedy happens. Jason's friend, a seven year old girl, Alicia is found murdered, and he is the suspect. There is no murder weapon and no clues except that Jason was the last one to see her.

The town is in an uproar and they want answers. With no where to turn, the poice call in an expert interrogator, Trent. Trent is as good as they get. Using tactics that are self taught throughout his many interrogations. Jason is called to the police station to 'help out' with what he remembers from Monday. However, the police want a confession and Trent wants to get it. Especially with added pressure from the Senator.

Will Trent try to find the truth or will he try to get Jason's confession? Trent is so good that he can almost talk a person into saying what he wants them to say. Although he has never faced a person like Jason in the interrogating room before. Find out if Jason falls into the trap of words or if he talks his way out.

Some say this book isn't realistic because Jason is twelve and Alicia is seven and they are friends. However, Jason is somewhat of a loner and doesn't have many friends his age. This book is a short and easy quick read. I recommend it for older teenagers and up because the questions move fast from Trent. It is a very exciting book all the way until the end.

Summary: A Real Cliffhanger!
Review: After a normal, typical day of play of a few neighborhood kids, a seven-year-old girl is found dead--murdered. There are no leads, murder weapon, or clues in the case. The police department, reacting from all the pressure of the townspeople, follow a gut instinct and begin to lean heavily on a twelve-year-old, male suspect who had been one of the last people to see the girl alive.
A hot shot interrogator is called in on the case to make the boy confess. He has never in his career failed to get a confession. Will he get one this time? Will it be a truthful one?
This novel will hold your attention throughout. It's full of murder, suspense, and intrigue. And, get ready for a surprise ending that leaves you stumped! Robert Cromier is one of the best writers of young adult literature that I have ever read.

Summary: Amy Bradshaw, Teacher
Review: As an educator I can see some value in this book, however, it is not one that I will be recommending to my students. Trent is an interrogator who is good - too good - at what he does. Jason is a slightly less than typical 12 year old who is asked to "help" him with a murder investigation. What happened when these two came together made me want to scream!!

I don't think this book is realistic. Yes, I realize it is fiction but, it is suppose to be realistic fiction. As far as I'm concerned it could be fantacy. I read many young adult books so that I can keep up with good literature to recommend to my students. I would not consider this good literature - fair maybe.

Summary: Scary
Review: Once you start you can't put this book down. I started reading it about 9 p.m. and finished about 1 a.m. It is a quick read and very good. Cormier keeps the reader interested by subtly suggesting another suspect. He continues with the interrugation by the detective. What surprised me was the deceit of the police. Even more so, was the surprise ending. It is scary to think that it could actually happen.

Summary: A Great Mystery Book
Review: Author: Robert Cormier
By: Neil Bartlett

This book is about a boy, Jason, who is convicted of a crime of a seven-year-old girl. Jason was a friend with the girl?s brother but he went over there to play with her sometimes. The girl, Alicia Bartlett, loved to play games and to put together puzzles. She was found dead in the dense words of her back yard, under two maple trees. Detective Lieutenant George Braxton was investigating the case and was very eager on finding the killer. He talked to Jason a lot because he was the last one with her. He was at her house and she was yelling at her brother because he was making fun of her. Her brother finally left with his friend and after that Jason had also left. Her body was carefully laid down all neat and tidy in her dress. She always wore dresses even on the hottest of days. The detective searches on for the answer but so far he only has a suspect and a body.
