Rating: Summary: LUTRAAA!!!!!! Review: This was the first Redwall book that I read, and it got me hooked on them. I read this book in first grade, and seven years later, it's still my favorite, and I am now the proud owner of the first 14 Redwall books. The book tells the story of Grath Longfletch, an otter whose family was murdered by Emperor Ublaz so that he could have 6 beautiul pearls belonging to them. Grath sets out to avenge the deaths, and regain the pearls. Along the way, Martin the second joins her, as Ublaz has kidnapped the Abbot of Redwall after learning the pearls are hidden inside. As they journey forth, a group of Abbey-dwellers, led by Tansy, a young hedgehog, must solve 6 mind-bending riddles that will lead them to the pearls. It's a good book, but first-time visitors to Mossflower should start at the beginning. To all those who have been to Mossflower before, I want to say one thing: Redwallll!!!
Rating: Summary: Pearls of Lutra Review: Grath Longfletch must avenge her holt becaus the evil Ublaze killed evryone except her trying to find the tears of the ocean. The tears of the ocean are 6 pink Pearls that are valuble. Ublaze wants them for his crown. The reason why he dosn't have them is because one of his vermin ran away to Redwall Aby where he gave them to somebody and she hid them. Now ublaze has caputered the abbot of their abby and holding them ransom The ransom is the pearls. Now Tansy is looking for them.Grath finds Martin and they go on a quest to find the abbot and so Grath can avenge her family.
Rating: Summary: A swashbuckling tale! Review: The Pearls of Lutra revolves around several central characters. First and foremost is Tansy the hedgehog. It is she who undertakes the quest to find the hidden pearls, and her sections of the book are filled with the usual enderaing Redwall dialects, characters, and riddles. The riddles were fun without being incredibly difficult to solve...children would have a good time thinking them over to see if they can figure it out before Tansy and her friends. Martin the second makes a return appearance, this time setting out to rescue kidnapped Redwallers. He proves to be his dependable self, protecting the innocent and bringing the vilians to their knees. Grath Longfletch is an otter bent on bringing vengeance on the corsairs that slaughtered her family. I could go on and on about so many of the characters in this book: owls, hares, the Guosim shrews, seals, and more!I enjoyed this book for the most part. The only drawback is that I found the varying storylines more distracting than usual. There are always a lot of things going on in Redwall books, but it was difficult to keep things straight this time. Perhaps the similarity in the names of several characters was part of it.
Rating: Summary: PEARLS OF LUTRA Review: PEARLS OF LUTRA IS A VERY COOL BOOK. I GIVE IT 5 STARS BECAUSE OF ITS AMOUNT OF ACTION AND MYSTERY. IN THIS BOOK GRATH LONGFLETHCH'S ENTIRE FAMILY IS KILLED BY CORSAIRS AND SEA RATS. SHE GOES OUT FOR REVENGE AND MEETS MARTIN THE REDWALL WARRIOR. THEY GO ON A QUEST WHILE TANSY IS FIGURING THE MYSTERY OF THE LUTRA PEARLS. OVER ALL THIS IS A GREAT BOOK THAT I THINK THAT EVERY ONE SHOULD READ.
Rating: Summary: Another great book by Jacques Review: Pearls of Lutra is a very good book. I think that the first few Redwall books are a little better, but I still really enjoyed this one. If you are new to the Redwall Series I would sugest that you read the books before this. Brian Jacques takes you into the story with great detail. You feel as if you are actually with 'Mad Eyes' Ublaz or Tansy. Tansy and Martin are my favorite characters in the book. If you ever need a good read Jacques will deliver.
Rating: Summary: My Favorite book Review: This has been my favorite book. I liked this book because it was a great way for kids my age, older of younger, to expand on our imaginations. I chose this book because my best friend and my big brother reccomended it to me. They said that it was one of the best books that Brian Jacques has written. This book was about and evil pine marten names Ublaz that was overpowered by his own greed and nonforgivingness. He stole 6 rare pearls from the Holt Lutra. The only remaining survivor was Grath Longfetch. She swore to herself that she would avenge her family. In the long treak to Sampetra she met up with many characters. Some good, some bad. When the got to Sampetra, they formulated an attack and started a war between them and some other backstabbing vermin that turned to the good side in there own way. My favorite charachter was the squirrelbabe, Arven. He reminded my exactly of a little kid. He was a little guy who always got himself into trouble. My favorite part was when Tansy, Piknim, Craklyn, and Rollo were searching for the pearls. It was very exciting to see what was about to happen. I really enjoyed this book and I would reccomend it to anyone who has a great imagination and is ready for excitment!
Rating: Summary: Brian Jaques Thrilling 9th Book Review: Pearls of Lutra certainly satisfies the corsair-loving Redwall reader like me, but also includes the endless adventure at Redwall Abbey. The story mainly takes place in two locations; the Isle of Sampetra, and the Abbey of Redwall. The Isle of Sampetra is ruled by an evil pine marten,Ublaz "Mad Eyes", who uses his hypnotic powers to control the isle. However, his dream is to find 6 Pearls, to give him ultimate power. But when he finds that his corsair has failed to retrieve the Pearls, and they are in Redwall Abbey, he sends his Monitor Lizard Captain, Lask Frildur and his crew along with a kind-hearted corsair named Romsca, to get the pearls. Redwallers think that they have no pearls, but Romsca and his crew capture the Abbot and a volemaid, Viola, the ransom being the pearls. Tansy, a youth, goes through a series of riddles in order to find the pearls and get back Viola and Abbot Durral.
Rating: Summary: If you're looking for excitement, this is the book for you! Review: Wow, I thought this book was incredible! It's very interesting and exciting! Ublaz, the 'mad-eyed' pine marten, is searching for the six valuable pearls called "Tears of the Ocean". Naturally, Redwall Abbey has to be involved in it, so it turns out that one of his corsairs, Graylunk, had stolen them and had staggered into Redwall Abbey asking for help. Since he had had a fatal head injury, the pearls never was returned. Graylunk had gave the pink pearls to Fermal the Ancient before his death and Fermal had hid them around the Abbey. Ublaz the Mad-Eyed(He's called that because of his hypnotic stare) sends out a group of corsairs and his Monitor flesh-eating lizards to retrieve the precious pearls. (My favorite character somehow was Romsca, the female corsair, because she, amazingly, turns out good at the end.) Tansy the hedgehog maid, comes out in this books, but I didn't really like her because I'm not particulary fond of hedgehog maids. Anyway, Tansy and a group of her friends(Martin the Warrior included!) starts finding the pearls by solving the difficult riddles Fermal had wrote. Soon, the group of corsairs Ublaz had sent reaches Redwall Abbey and kidnaps Abbot Durral and Viola the prissy bankvole as hostages for the pearls. Will they escape? What will happen to the pearls? "Pearls Of Lutra" was very exciting! I'm so happy I got it for Christmas!
Rating: Summary: Best Book EVER Review: I've read this book about 25 times. I'm 13 and have only been reading Brain Jacques's books for a year and I've already read his series twice! This is my favorite because its packed with loads of adventure and the fight against evil. Best Book EVER!
Rating: Summary: Most exotic redwall book yet :Pearls of Lutra Review: This book takes the reader farther away from the actual Redwall Abbey than any other book so far in this series.Much of it takes place on a remote island out way west across the sea. There lives this story's main villain,Ublaz,or Mad Eyes, and he controls a whole army of monitor lizards[imagine that!].The riddles are the best yet.The plot is epic, the storyline grand. The characters are pretty good;some funny, others sad.[Some moments in this book are heartbreaking!]I also think this book is kind of dark[some parts].Lots of fighting and revenge and the like,as in the other Redwall books. But this is still a fantastic choice for Redwall fans and others interested.Fantastic!
