Summary: It was not great but it was ok.
Review: Out of all the Redwall series this was not the greatest. In my personal opinion the characters were not vivid enough. I could not get a clear mental picture of the character or their personalities. because, you see, in all the other books it felt like I had a bond with the characters, it was like I was right there with them being part of the story. But, in this book it just didn't happen. I personally would not recamend this book to any one just starting the Redwall series. In order to really get the jist of this book and know what is going on you would have to start from the begining and read the books in chronological order which is: Mossflower, Outcast of Redwall, Marial of Redwall, Martin the Warrior, The Bellmaker, Salamandastron, Redwall, Mattimeo, then finaly Pearls of Lutra, but then after that also comes the newest edition the Redwall series The Long Patrol. Well other than that I would reccamend this book to any die-hard Redwall fan. REEDWAAAAALLLLL!!!!!!!!!!Eulaliaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!! Holt Lutraaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: Disgrace to Redwall!!!
Review: As with an earlier reveiwer, I only suggest this book to a vetran Redwaller. The zing, the enchantment, the feeling, just wasn't there as in the other Redwall books. Since I'm older, I read this book slowly and carefully, not rushing to get done as in other years. I was so heartbroken at this book I stopped reading Redwall for a while. There were parts I hated in this book, like how he named the warrior of the book Martin, "completing the circle" as he called it. To me, NO ONE other than the original Martin should have that name. Jaques seemed to be attempting to end the series right there, and the charectars were SO shallow that it just wasn't done, it was left there, forgotten. Maybe Jaques was trying to hurry up and write this book, I don't know. The chacectars, even the main charectar, Tansy, were so vague that I felt connected only slightly to the otters. The "new" Martin was especially dull, he obtained such a miniscule part in the story. I've read and re-read all of the Redwall books at least 3 times, except for this one, which I've only read once.I hear there's a new Redwall book coming out, I hope it's better than this one. I suggest to read this book slowly and carefully, think about what you've read, and compare it to other Redwall books, you may find something different about this book.

Summary: Holt Lutraaaaaa
Review: I'm currently reading this book and there is 1 thing I can say about it... it rules. Brian Jacques did a great job making new characters. I like the character Rasconza, I wonder if he dies? I haven't gotten to the part where they burn down Saint Ninian's but I cannot wait till I do.

Summary: Brian Jacques' -Best- yet!
Review: I've read all the books in The Redwall Series, (Including "The Long Patrol") and in my opinion, this one is most definately the best! I think it's because it's so different from the rest of the novels. Plus, Mr. Jacques introduces a new species: monitor lizards. The Redwall books have been my all time favorites for years, but this one is the best yet.

Summary: Pearls of Lutra: Riddle Perfect!!!!!!!!!
Review: Pearls of Lutra is about six pink pearles that are hidden within the Abbey Wall. These pearls are needed so that Tansy(A hedgehog, and one of the main characters in the story), and a couple of other animals (including Rollo, from REDWALL), can ransom back their Abbott from Ublaz Mad Eyes. This book is a very creative story, with lots of cool riddles!! Sometimes I wonder how Mr. Jacques does it. If you want your nose in a good book, read this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summary: A wonderful composition of well-thought-out literature!
Review: The Pearls of Lutra is definitely the best Redwall novel that I have read so far. I have always enjoyed trying to figure out the riddles and puzzles as I read the books. That is one of the many elements that, along with the wonderful characters and descriptions, make this book a winner! I really enjoyed the new characters, especially Clecky, Tansy, and Arven (the little maggit!). I would definitely reccomend this book for people who like exciting adventures. I can't wait for LONG PATROL!!!!! :-)

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not really a gem
Review: The title refers to six pink pearls called the "Tears of all Oceans". These are stolen, with much bloodshed, from the otters of Holt Lutra by rat pirates. Some of the plot devices used to drive the story are decidedly thin, and the proportions of the animal characters relative to each other and the natural world (trees waves, etc.) are very confusing and difficult to visualize.

For high points I would choose the poem-clues that drive the treasure hunt of the story-within-the-story, and the ever-present descriptions of food that sounds too wonderful to exist. Lest someone think that I have been too harsh in this review, let me close by admitting that I read the entire thing in one night, so I probably shouldn't complain too much.
