Summary: An amazing perspective
Review: I am a 14 year old girl, and I just have to say that anyone with any questions should get this book. To the concerned parents: Through this book, I discovered that I was a manic-depressive and got help. Now, if I hadn't read it, I might be dead. Seriously. Also, most teenagers already know this stuff, but have misconceptions- and this eradicates them. It's a wonderful book.

Summary: Don't Go There!
Review: My daughter received this book as a gift, and I was appalled by some of its contents. This book should only be purchased by adults and should be removed from adolescent access. "Deal With It" is nothing short of a sex manual. There are ways to present such information without be vulgar. The book contains excerpts, graphics and slang that are unnecessary, as well as inappropriate. This publication gives teenagers disgusting ideas and potentially harmful thoughts/actions.

I am very honest and open-minded when discussing such topics with my daughter of 12 years. I don't want her walking around saying the things that are printed in this book. What happened to discretion? There should be a warning label on this book!

Please review this book thoroughly and carefully before purchasing. I would hate to think that this is the type of "educational/informational" material being fed to our youth. What happened to morals?

Summary: Buyer Beware
Review: This is a WARNING to those purchasing this book with the intention of presenting hard life facts to young girls in a refreshing, positive way. This book presents hard facts in an even harder way to young girls and I warn adults to read it carefully before purchasing it for a girl they care about. I merely skimmed the SEX section, but was impressed with the other sections, ones that touched on such topics as: constructive ways to spend free time, different body types, physiological body changes, and how to have a positive self image, women's role in the workplace, what to do when others make fun of you, the role of religion in individual choices, ...etc. I was impressed with these topics and found the information to be thorough and well thought out.

The SEX topic, however, was covered with a graphic, vulgar, and less than cautionary method. The fact that the book is geared toward teens and has a page or two devoted to multiple sex partners without advising against pregnancy, STDs, or the potential for social exclusion and humiliation is disturbing. This book has multiple references to the act of sex as F*cking throughout, as well as descript explainations of sexual positions and slang terminology that I have only heard in the raunchiest of circumstances. I know that honesty is a large part of communication with teens, but I feel that this book had the potential to set the tone for an honest, enlightened, and informative discussion on teen sexuality and instead presented a dialogue for porn and profanity. I am very sorry that I bought this book and was humiliated when my friend called me to question my judgement in buying such a gift for her daughter.

I am not very conservative and am considered by most to be open minded and in some ways, very liberated, particularly about sexual expression and freedom therein. I am also aware that at 27, I probably had a different experience in adolosence than most teens can expect in this day and age, but I don't think that you have to out do the already radical exposure that young women have to sex in today's environment to get through to them. Teaching a young woman to make informed decisions and maintain self dignity will never be passee and will help them to succeed more quickly in this world than will teaching them how to have a menage a trois party prior to graduation. I really feel strongly that this book should be revised to be appropriate for the targeted audience.

Summary: deal with it! A whole new approach to your body, brain, life
Review: Ok what really gets on my nerves is all of these mothers coming on here, saying "MY BABY DOESN'T NEED TO READ THIS" if they don't read it, in an informative, factual style, they will either: Hear it off the street, or at school, by totally unfactual reasonings... or B, live it in their own life. Iam a 14 y\o gurl and I know for a fact, this is what we want to read. If we get this sort of excitment from a book, then we'll keep turning to books, and not trying to live it in real life! Ok? I don't care whether your gurl is 10 or 18! Buy this book! You will always learn special things from it!

Summary: I wish I'd had this book
Review: Remember when you were starting adolescence, and just wished you could get all the answers without asking the ridiculously humiliating questions? Remember wondering if other kids had the same questions? Remember wishing the answers you got were straightforward and honest? This book is a Fairy Godmother - a hip-older-sister kind of Fairy Godmother. I think this is a very important book for preteen girls. It is beautiful and brutally honest. No girl I know will ever grow up without this book!

Summary: GOOD BOOK
Review: This was such an informative book. It tells you everything! From sex to your emotions to drugs. It even goes through the history of how sex, virginity, etc were dwelt in other cultures and in the past. It also has real girls quoting about different subjects. I'm sure every girl will learn at least one thing from this book and I'm also sure that every girl will relate to the subjects discussed in this book.

Summary: A must read for teens!
Review: I purchased a copy of this book with the intention of giving it to a friend's teenage daughter. While flipping throught the pages, I was delightedly shocked at all of the topics covered from drugs to dating to mental health. In this age of media, kids have much more to deal with and this guide successfully navigates one through the muddy waters of growing up. Even I learned quite a bit!

Summary: The Book With No Shame
Review: This book is one of a kind. For teenage girls, written by teenage girls and has tons of info on everything!!! And I mean absolutely everything!!!! It's a book that lets you know that you're not alone, you're completely normal and it answers all the questions you were too afraid or embarassed to ask. This is such a good book to have around. I sure learned a lot from it! :)! It's about your body, your sexuality, your brain, and your life. And I love the way it's written, it's written so that we take it seriously, can understand it and won't get bored with it. It's like a 'teen girl dictionary'.
