Summary: Review of Parrot in the Oven
Review: Parrot in the Oven was a good book to read. It was a growing up tale of a young Mexican boy going through many different situations. Manny the main charater in the book was talking about his life and the things he went through. Manny talks about his experiences through his childhood. It was a good read because it was a book that you could relate to. This book deals with some of the situations many Mexican kids go through in the United States. Manny talks about what he should be doing with his life and why he should do it. Manny is a young boy that dose not have too much confedence, but then starts to gain it up in the book. He understands what kind of person he should be in life, because he knows what other kind of person he could be and he dose not like it.

Summary: the best of them all
Review: I think that this book is a great book because its based on a true story. Many people now in days came from a poor family which mean that they have to work doing something in order to earn money and live of something. In this case Manny and Nardo came from a family who their parents make them work out in the fields. This family is going threw a lot of dificulties. Such as they father of the family can not sta in a job more than a week because he wastes the money on drinking alcohol. And by doing this he is losing his family. For example when he was drunk and he tried to shoot his wife. In the story Mrs.Hernandez wants her children to go to school and become something better in life. She dosen't want for her kids to end up were she did. She has to work because her own husband can not help out by working. In this case Nardo and Manny had to wrk in the fields for a while to help out. Manny and Nardo had to work in the field without any papers, and their was this one time when the immigration had a trip to the location were they where working at and Nardo and Manny ran. Now in days things in our life are somewhat similar to this. But not quite, our parents encurage us to go to school to get a better education. Therefore i think that this book is the best of them all.

Summary: My opinion
Review: I like to read books and Parrot in the Oven makes me think more about my roots. It talk about a Mexican family who was living in California working in the fields. The main character is Manny that show us, how to survive for any hard situation. I think he grow up fast, because he didn't have the time to play or being like other guy at his age.He was continuing his studies and also he helped his family working in the fields. One reason that I like this book is that Manny never give up, not matter if his father consider them as a penny. He demostred that he was more than a penny.

Summary: Parrot In the Oven
Review: To me i thought this book was great for the six weeks i read in my English class . when i read this book first i was like i don't think i will like it at all but i did ya there was boring chapters but there was a couple of main chapters that i like the most there was one that the mom wanted him to transfer schools but for some reason it couldn't happen. So he never transfer schools not only that but transfering schools is not that good because you have to start all over again. Then there was a other chapter that i thought was good when the dad goes crazy because he's drunk and he has a gun but he is looking for the bullets and he finds them and they are in the ladys dresser. She's not home shes getting her hair done . So she doesn't know . The whole thing is that he is drunk and people should know how people get when there drunk.
I recommended this book to anyone that does read this book it is great and i hope you enjoy reading it like the way i did .

Summary: My thoughts about the book
Review: I found this book very interesting because it talked about a total different culture and lifestyle that I've never experienced. I found that Manuel, the 13-year old narrator, had a rough time growing up in the projects for many reasons. His father was an abusive alcoholic who spent most of his time at a pool hall playing pool and drinking. Manuel's mother was a lady who made some mistakes in life like marrying someone she didn't love. He also had one brother and two sisters. Nardo, Manuel's brother, is a very popular, muscular, and fearful person who everyone likes and respects. Magda, one of Manuel's sisters who he has the most respect for is pretty much the caretaker of the house because she is the only one that has a job and brings home the money. And a six-year old sister who isn't in the book much.
What I like most about the book is the ending because throughout the book he had become a gangster and towards the end he realized that living the life of a gangster wasn't what he wanted to do. He realized that when his friend Eddie and him were in the park and Eddie robbed a lady who was getting in her car. A man who saw the incident told the police that Manuel was running after the thief and was not with him, although both knew that what he told the police officer was not true. When the police left, Manuel went walking home and when he walked in his house he saw his two sisters sleeping peacefully on the couch and that is when reality hit him and realized that the gang life wasn't for him and that he had more to live up to.

Review: Parrot in the Oven is a very interesting book. I liked this book because it talks about alot of things that I am passing for. Like when he wants a glove but he has to work for it. Me too because I want games I have too work for it my mom tells me that we don't have alot of money so if I want something I have to work for it. This book is realy making me see that my mom is saying the true. Another thig that the story tells is when he tries to be a gangster to make more friends and the bad things that hi family is passing for thats why I realy liked this story.
Tahts how I relise with the problems that my family is passing for because always do bad stoff like I tried to geat in a gang to make more friens and always be cool but I relise that what I was doing it was wrong becaus I sow how my friends were dieing because the drugs thats way I did not entered that gang. Summary: The Parrot in the Oven
Review: What I liked about the book was how he gave us a good description of how his family was and how they act at home and everywhere. Even though I know this isn't supposed to be funny the part I liked was when Manny's father and mother got into it they would fight to try and hurt each other. I also liked when Manny had joined the gang because the Garcia boys would jump him and Manny didn't know how to fight. Another reason why I liked the book because when Manny's father would get in the house after he comes home from the pool hall Manny describes him as he's trippin ,because he says he be abusive, he curses people out for nothin then he would go to the room where Manny's mother is then they would be fighting all night.

Review: I really enjoy reading this book. I don't really read much but when I start to read a book that I really enjoy I keep on reading it untill I'm done with it. This is like the fifth book that I have actually read all the way to the end, I'm not quite finished jet but I'm getting there. I like this book because it has many things that other books don't have for example, it has bad language. What I really like about that is that it is in English and in Spanish, maybe I like it because I'm hispanic and I understand what they are saying. This book also has many realistic scene like when they are in the chilli peper fiels picking chilli pepers out in the sun, that is about the only type of job that an immigrant can get at first when they come to the us. I find that to be true because when my dad first came to the U.S. he was working in the hot sun as a roofer. I recomend this book to other people because it teaches many lessons of real life, and I hope that they find it as interesting as I did.(In onother words "esta chingon")

Review: I read Parrot in the Oven and I thought that it was a very interesting book. I chose the book because the summary talked about a fourteen year old boy that was to choose between being somebody right,or somebody popular.I can say that Parrot in the Oven is the best book I've ever read because it tells the truth of what many teenagers face, now that the whole world is based in drugs, alcohol, gangs, and violence. By me reading this book, helped me a lot in making my decisions, and thinking of the consequences that come after every action. It also helped me knoe who my real friend are.

Summary: Parrot in the Oven
Review: Parrot in the Oven is a great book. It shows how the author went through life when he was a child, how his family was different from others. His Dad was a drunk, whenever he got paid from work,he would go to Rico's Pool Hall just to get drunk and gamble by playing pool.Bernardo,Manny's older brother can't keep a job, he would work ,but then he'll quit.Magda, Manny's other older sister, is always sneaking out of the house with her secret boyfriend. And a younger sister,Pedi, his dad favorite little girl.
I liked this book, because it teaches you a lot of things that happen in life. It shows how one person goes through life trying to change the way they are, because that's the way my family was. One thing I didn't like about the book was that when Manny joined the gang. One thing I learned about this book is that theres a lot families goest through life.
