Summary: This book was even better than the first one!
Review: This book was well written and it made you feel like you were in the town in the Logan family. I would recomend it to anyone.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good, make sure and read Roll of Thunder, Here my Cry First
Review: A good book, yet not as good as Roll of Thunder, Here my Cry or The Road to Memphis but still very good. Its best quality is the element of fear. I will not tell you what the fear is for incase you have not read the book but I would recommend it, but only if you have read Roll of Thunder, Here my Cry first.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not as Good as Roll of Thunder...
Review: This story continues the Logan family saga from where Roll of thunder ended. However, this book has none of the charm that Roll of Thunder displays so beautifully. In this book the Logan family deals with more issues that threaten either their surrvival or their integrity and predictably rise above it all.

For L.A. Teachers: The book is longer then Roll of Thunder. And while it answers some questions that Roll of Thunder Left unanswered; it isn't worth the time. When it's so hard to get kids to read any book, a book that makes you fight to finish it is the last thing teachers need to push in the classroom. Let them read Roll of Thunder, it's a great book. That can be the class wide book, then if anyone wants to explore further they can read this book on their own.

Summary: Reader from Healdsburg. The book that touches the heart.
Review: This book is one of two that you should really read, if you like books about real people. Hard times and losses are a part of this book too. The book is about a black family making do with what they had. The bravery of a young boy and how he tries to help his family is amazing. This book made me laugh, cry, and get the feeling that I could have been there.

Rating: 5 stars

Summary: This is a breathtaking work from an amazing author.
Review: This book is good for children of all ages, it teaches good lessons and you can almost hear Mildred D. Taylor reading it aloud.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Cassie and Stacey are much older here and so is their town
Review: Let the circle be unbroken starts where Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry broke off, but it is a much maturer book and deals with the issues very directly. This reflects how much the characters have changed and matured. Stacey runs off to the cane fields when money gets short, and Cassie has started to have adolescent feelings which cannot be ignored. I definitely recommmend this book to anyone who has read Roll of Thunder, but if you haven't then start with that to get to know the essence of the characters before they start to change. This book was sad but more hopeful near the end that Roll of Thunder.

Summary: I am glad I read this book
Review: Reading this book taught alot about how cruel people can really be. I learned that what really matters is how you feel about yourself. I admire Cassie Logan for her strengh and I admire her parents for there wisdom about how to survive through such cruelty. I enjoyed this book and I thank my teacher for recommending it to me.

Summary: Fantastic book.
Review: I really liked this book because it gave me real insight into the hard life of African-Americans during a time when white was considered the 'better' race. Cassie Logan is a tough girl growing up with three older brothers, and she shows how hard growing up can be. It was so real, but also somewhat deppressing. But it never got boring. The Logan family was lucky because they had their own plantation, but they struggled to survive. The whites were very powerful and they just about took everything over. It helped me see through the eyes of a black person. Cassie went through a lot of things- her old family friend being put in jail after an unfair trial, her school friends losing everything they had, her brother running away to try to make a better living, and her father leaving for long spells to earn hardly any money. And the simpler things too- watching her older brother pull away as he began desiring privacy, her cousin trying to pass for white. I loved Cassie because she told everything from the bottom of her heart, and she didn't deny her feelings. At times, this book enraged me because it opened my eyes to the cruel realism of racism. It was excellently written.
