Summary: Amazing sequel to amazing book
Review: Though many sequels to award-winning books are not as good, or more desperate than, the original, this book is the exact opposite. AMAZING!!! I had to read Roll of Thunder in reading class (all 30 of us had to), and after reading that wonderful composition, I couldn't help but read the sequel. If you're looking for a book that will keep you away from the television for a while, read this. I'd come home from school every day, do my homework, and read about 2 or 3 chapters. I'm telling you, it's impossible to put down!

Summary: Let The Circle Be Unbroken
Review: Let the Circle Be Unbroken is an interesting book that keeps the reader involved in the life of a poor black family during the depression. From the first chapter until the last word, Taylor gives the reader a peek into the thoughts and actions of a young girl named Cassie who finds out what racism and self respect truly are. I rarely read fictions based on true events, so when this book turned out to be so good, I was shocked. Many books have a great story and characters, but in this book Taylor gives so many specific details that the reader feels as if she is living in the depression. The first chapter, which is pretty boring, started out introducing the characters so it took me close to a week to really start reading the book. As soon as I got past the first part, the book started to become interesting, and I finished reading every page in less than two days.
Cassie, Little Man, Christopher-John, and Stacey are my favorite characters of the book. Each of the children had their own way of dealing with life and its many situations. The depression was a very important part of history, so the racist setting gave a lot of meaning to the situations the characters faced. I love the way Taylor wrote the truth about the past instead of making racism seem minor as many other books do.

Though this book has excellent theme, characters, and setting, conflicts made the story a little less believable. Many of the arguments and coincidences between characters were overly done and exaggerated to the point where they were hardly believable. In one section of the book a coincidence occurs when two relatives who do not get along, suddenly appear for the first time in many years. Their appearance is not in itself unusual, but the fact that the characters automatically do not get along, makes the story a tiny bit unbelievable.

To any non-racist or racist person, I would recommend this book. A book this in-depth would help a racist person see the other side of the story. The book would be great as a bedtime story for young children, an interesting novel for young adults, a great story for adults with busy schedules, or a remembrance story for anyone who lived during the depression. Only a person with an open heart and mind should read this book. It is a great story, but anyone looking for lots of action or violence should look somewhere else. Personally, I do not think I would read this book again until I read this book's sequel, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry. The reality and truth of this book would truly make this story a wonderful movie.

From this book, Let the Circle Be Unbroken by Mildred Taylor, I have learned of the true hardships that black people had to face many years ago. I learned that even with slavery illegal, a free black family could be treated poorly, and the tormentors could get away with these injustices. Never will I forget Cassie and her struggle to know all that was going on. Cassie helped me understand that it is the beauty of a person's thoughts that count in the overall view rather than the person's race, religion, or color.

Summary: Don't break the circle!
Review: "Let The Circle Be Unbroken" by Mildred Taylor is a really great book. I think it's great because of the different contrasts of the people and events that take place in the story. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes a good book about a family that has many problems in their life, but stay together by having courage and love. This book was one of the best ones I have ever read. That's why I gave it five stars.

Summary: Unforgettable
Review: It was hard being black in the southern states during the Great Depression. This is Cassie Logan's second narrarted book about what it really means to be black. I liked the plot of this book because it was rich. When T.J. is condemned to death for a crime he didn't commit and Cousin Bud is humiliated because Suzella tried to pass as a white and Stacey leaves for a job against the wishes of Mama, Cassie's close family circle seems about to fall apart. This book is just as strong and as good as its prequel Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry.

Summary: awesome
Review: Let the Circle Be Unbroken was a really awesome book. I don't think I've put it down since I have started it. Out of the series I'd have to say it was the best. It talks about a black family trying to survive off their land. When Stacey gets a chance to make money he takes it. He runs away with best friend Moe Turner, to work on a cane field.
Meanwhile, Cassie is scared sick... literally! She gets very sick, and poeple thinks she may die. But all in all, in the end we all are happy. I cried from this book many times, and I suppose you will too, if you read it. It is so life like,as if you are experiencing it.
I really hope you will read it, you will not regret it! Treasure the book, the knoledge you gain for it, and the experience. It is one worth experiencing!

Summary: Adversity
Review: In the beginning of Let the Circle be Unbroken Cassie finds a new friend who hardly speaks but understands everything. Stacey wants to prove himself worthy wants to become an adult. Their cousin from the North visits. In the middle their cousin Suzella wins everyone's heart but Cassie's. The times get worse when large landowners plow their fields of healthy cotton. The children must watch as an all white jury charges their friend with murder. In the end the children get stronger and accept that their friend is gone. The end is very good but I don't want to give it away. Read this book to find out what happens.

I liked this book because the family really did never give up. They had respect for everyone even if the other person hated them. It gave me hope and strength. I hope you read this book.

Mildred Taylor also wrote Roll of Thunder, Hear my Cry, The Road to Memphis and "Song of the Trees." I have only read two of the three but I liked Let the Circle be Unbroken the best.

Summary: SUPER NOVEL FOR TEENS AND OLDER
Review: Recently in my first period reading class we had to read the novel Let the Circle Be Unbroken. Before you read this book, you should read Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor. In my point of view, this was an excellent book.
I liked several different parts in this book. The first was when a black boy was charged and sentenced to the death penalty for the murder of a white man. Another one was when Cassie Logan, a 11 yr. old girl who tells the story, her cousin a mixed girl, Suzella, comes to visit from New York to get more in touch and find out more about her black side. My other favorite part is when a black lady registers to vote and starts a riot over this little thing that she wants to do for her birthday.
I recommend this book to everyone and anyone who loves history and like reading about the 1930s. Also, to people who like to read about the differences between blacks and whites in the 1930s. I think everyone should at least try and get into this book!

Summary: A book that can teach.
Review: The book that I have just finished reading is Let The Circle Be Unbroken. The book was written by Mildred Taylor. The book is very exciting. Then it can be very sad. The things I like about this book is there was a trial. The trial was very interestig. It made not want to put the book down.
The things I didn't like about the book is there was alot of racism going on. I found out about stuff I never even knew. Like how bad black people were treated, they were treated much then they said they were. I recomend this book if you really wantlearn about stuff that happened back then in Mississippi. I do not recomend this book if you can not stand the way black people were treated back then. Basicly I want some people to read this book so everyone will be glad on how they treated. I give this book four stars.

Summary: Let The Circle Be Unbroken
Review: Recently at my school (Jackson Middle School) we read a book by the name of Let The Circle Be Unbroken. It was written by Mildred Talor. The reason why I liked it was because it had a lot of detail in the different things that happened. I lie the part about Suzella, now that was the best. I recomend it because I think the kids should know more about racism. I think that the kids will enjoy this story a lot.
