Rating: Summary: not a children's book Review: I have a feeling this is one of those books that grown-ups would like children to love, but that children themselves won't much appreciate. It's too bad, because it deals in simple language with cultural and gender issues that kids should probably hear about. Unfortunately, the pace and density of the plot are not great enough to sustain the attention of most young people. This is a decent book that has no audience.

At first I didn't think much of it until I actually read the first page then it grabbed my attention then I didn't put the book down for two or threee hours straight. This book is about a girl who lives in the deserts of Pakistan where her and her family are faced with natural disaters that force them to make a run for it and dessert their home for safety. Rating: Summary: A touching story of a Muslim girl growing up in the desert Review: I read the book, "Shabanu: Daughter of the Wind" for a class project. At first, I felt that this book was very boring and no action to it. When I got to about the middle of the book, I started really feeling for Shabanu's character. I felt for Shabanu's pain and grief throughout the story. It shows how & what a girl must do to grow up as a Muslim girl in the desert. This book is worth reading & is one of those books that you would remember for a lifetime.
